¹Ijob respondis kaj diris:

¹And Job answered and said,

²Auxskultu mian parolon; Kaj gxi estu anstataux viaj konsoloj.

²Hear attentively my speech, and let this replace your consolations.

³Toleru, ke mi parolu; Kaj kiam mi finos mian paroladon, tiam moku.

³Suffer me and I will speak; and after I have spoken, mock on!

⁴CXu kontraux homo mi disputas? Kaj kial mi ne estu malpacienca?

⁴As for me, is my complaint to a man? or wherefore should not my spirit be impatient?

⁵Turnu vin al mi, kaj vi eksentos teruron, Kaj vi metos la manon sur la busxon.

⁵Mark me, and be astonished, and lay the hand upon the mouth.

⁶Kiam mi ekpensas pri tio, min atakas teruro, Kaj tremo kaptas mian korpon.

⁶Even when I think [thereon], I am affrighted, and trembling taketh hold of my flesh.

⁷Kial malpiuloj vivas, Atingas maljunecon, akiras grandan havajxon?

⁷Wherefore do the wicked live, grow old, yea, become mighty in power?

⁸Ilia idaro estas bone arangxita antaux ili, kune kun ili, Kaj ilia devenantaro estas antaux iliaj okuloj.

⁸Their seed is established with them in their sight, and their offspring before their eyes.

⁹Iliaj domoj estas en paco, sen timo; Kaj la vergo de Dio ne estas sur ili.

⁹Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of +God upon them.

¹⁰Ilia bovo naskigas kaj ne estas forpusxata; Ilia bovino gravedigxas kaj ne abortas.

¹⁰Their bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.

¹¹Siajn malgrandajn infanojn ili elirigas kiel sxafaron, Kaj iliaj knaboj saltas.

¹¹They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.

¹²Ili gxojkrias sub la sonoj de tamburino kaj harpo, Ili estas gajaj sub la sonoj de fluto.

¹²They shout to the tambour and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the pipe.

¹³Ili pasigas siajn tagojn en bonstato, Kaj iras en SXeolon momente.

¹³They spend their days in prosperity, and in a moment go down to Sheol.

¹⁴Kaj tamen ili diras al Dio:Foriru de ni, Ni ne deziras koni Viajn vojojn;

¹⁴And they say unto ùGod, Depart from us, for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways!

¹⁵Kio estas la Plejpotenculo, ke ni servu al Li? Kaj kian utilon ni havos, se ni turnos nin al Li?

¹⁵What is the Almighty that we should serve him? and what are we profited if we pray unto him?

¹⁶Sed ne de ili dependas ilia bonstato; La pensmaniero de la malpiuloj estas malproksima de mi.

¹⁶Behold, their prosperity is not in their hand. The counsel of the wicked be far from me!

¹⁷GXis kiam? La lumilo de la malpiuloj estingigxu, Kaj ilia pereo venu sur ilin; Suferojn Li partodonu al ili en Sia kolero.

¹⁷How often is the lamp of the wicked put out, and cometh their calamity upon them? Doth he distribute sorrows [to them] in his anger?

¹⁸Ili estu kiel pajlero antaux vento, Kaj kiel grenventumajxo, kiun forportas ventego.

¹⁸Do they become as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carrieth away?

¹⁹Dio konservas lian malfelicxon por liaj infanoj; Li repagu al li mem, ke li sciu;

¹⁹+God layeth up [the punishment of] his iniquity for his children; he rewardeth him, and he shall know [it]:

²⁰Liaj propraj okuloj vidu lian malfelicxon, Kaj el la kolero de la Plejpotenculo li trinku.

²⁰His eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drink of the fury of the Almighty.

²¹CXar kiom interesas lin lia domo post li, Kiam la nombro de liaj monatoj finigxis?

²¹For what pleasure should he have in his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off?

²²CXu oni povas instrui scion al Dio, Kiu jugxas ja plej altajn?

²²Can any teach ùGod knowledge? And he it is that judgeth those that are high.

²³Unu mortas meze de sia abundeco, Tute trankvila kaj kontenta;

²³One dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet;

²⁴Lia brusto estas plena de lakto, Kaj liaj ostoj estas saturitaj de medolo.

²⁴His sides are full of fat, and the marrow of his bones is moistened;

²⁵Alia mortas kun animo suferanta, Kaj li ne gxuis bonon.

²⁵And another dieth in bitterness of soul, and hath not tasted good:

²⁶Sed ambaux kune ili kusxas en la tero, Kaj vermoj ilin kovras.

²⁶Together they lie down in the dust, and the worms cover them.

²⁷Vidu, mi scias viajn pensojn, Kaj la argumentojn, kiujn vi malice kolektas kontraux mi;

²⁷Lo, I know your thoughts, and the devices ye wrongfully imagine against me.

²⁸Vi diros:Kie estas la domo de la nobelo? Kaj kie estas la tendo, en kiu logxis la malpiuloj?

²⁸For ye say, Where is the house of the noble? and where the tent of the dwellings of the wicked?

²⁹Sed demandu la vojagxantojn, Kaj ne malatentu iliajn atestojn:

²⁹Have ye not asked the wayfarers? and do ye not regard their tokens:

³⁰En tago de malfelicxo la malpiulo estas sxirmata, En tago de kolero li estas metata flanken.

³⁰That the wicked is reserved for the day of calamity? They are led forth to the day of wrath.

³¹Kiu montros antaux lia vizagxo lian konduton? Kiu repagos al li, se li ion faris?

³¹Who shall declare his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he hath done?

³²Kaj li estas akompanata al la tomboj, Kaj sur la tomba altajxeto estas starigataj gardistoj.

³²Yet is he carried to the graves, and watch is kept over the tomb.

³³Dolcxaj estas por li la terbuloj de la valo, Kaj post li trenigxas cxiuj homoj, Kaj sennombraj estas tiuj, kiuj iris antaux li.

³³The clods of the valley are sweet unto him; and every man followeth suit after him, as there were innumerable before him.

³⁴Kiel do vi volas konsoli min per vantajxo, Kaj viaj respondoj enhavas nur malgxustajxojn?

³⁴How then comfort ye me in vain? Your answers remain perfidious.
