¹Ijob respondis kaj diris:

¹And Job answered and said,

²Ecx hodiaux mia parolado restas maldolcxa; Mia suferado estas pli peza, ol miaj gxemoj.

²Even to-day is my complaint bitter: my stroke is heavier than my groaning.

³Ho, se mi scius, kiamaniere mi povas Lin trovi, Veni al Lia trono!

³Oh that I knew where I might find him, that I might come to his seat!

⁴Mi prezentus al Li jugxan aferon, Kaj mian busxon mi plenigus per argumentoj.

⁴I would order the cause before him, and fill my mouth with arguments;

⁵Mi ekscius la vortojn, kiujn Li respondus al mi; Mi komprenus, kion Li dirus al mi.

⁵I would know the words he would answer me, and understand what he would say unto me.

⁶CXu en la grandeco de Sia forto Li luktus kontraux mi? Ne, Li nur atentu min;

⁶Would he plead against me with [his] great power? Nay; but he would give heed unto me.

⁷Tiam pravulo procesus kun Li, Kaj mi liberigxus por cxiam de mia Jugxanto.

⁷There would an upright man reason with him; and I should be delivered for ever from my judge.

⁸Sed jen mi iras antauxen, kaj Li tie ne estas; Mi iras malantauxen, kaj mi Lin ne rimarkas;

⁸Lo, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I do not perceive him;

⁹Se Li faras ion maldekstre, mi Lin ne trovas; Se Li kasxas Sin dekstre, mi Lin ne vidas.

⁹On the left hand, where he doth work, but I behold [him] not; he hideth himself on the right hand, and I see [him] not.

¹⁰Sed mian vojon Li konas; Se Li min elprovos, mi eliros kiel oro.

¹⁰But he knoweth the way that I take; he trieth me, I shall come forth as gold.

¹¹Sur Lia irejo forte tenigxas mia piedo; Lian vojon mi konservis, kaj ne forklinigxis.

¹¹My foot hath held to his steps; his way have I kept, and not turned aside.

¹²Mi ne deturnas min de la ordonoj de Liaj lipoj; Pli ol mian propran legxon mi konservis la dirojn de Lia busxo.

¹²Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have laid up the words of his mouth more than the purpose of my own heart.

¹³Sed Li estas sola:kiu kontrauxstaros al Li? Kion Lia animo deziras, tion Li faras.

¹³But he is in one [mind], and who can turn him? And what his soul desireth, that will he do.

¹⁴Kio estas destinita por mi, tion Li plenumos; Kaj Li havas multe da similaj aferoj.

¹⁴For he will perform [what] is appointed for me; and many such things are with him.

¹⁵Tial mi tremas antaux Lia vizagxo, Mi primeditas, kaj mi timas Lin.

¹⁵Therefore am I troubled at his presence; I consider, and I am afraid of him.

¹⁶Dio senkuragxigis mian koron, Kaj la Plejpotenculo min konfuzis.

¹⁶For ùGod hath made my heart soft, and the Almighty troubleth me;

¹⁷CXar mi ne estas neniigita antaux la mallumo, Kaj antaux mia vizagxo Li ne kovris la mallumon.

¹⁷Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither hath he hidden the gloom from me.
