1A false balance is an abomination to Jehovah; but a just weight is his delight.
2Se venis malhumileco, venos ankaux honto; Sed cxe la humiluloj estas sagxo.
2[When] pride cometh, then cometh shame; but with the lowly is wisdom.
3La senkulpeco de la piuloj gvidos ilin; Sed la falsemo pereigos la maliculojn.
3The integrity of the upright guideth them; but the crookedness of the unfaithful destroyeth them.
4Ne helpos ricxo en la tago de kolero; Sed bonfaremo savas de morto.
4Wealth profiteth not in the day of wrath; but righteousness delivereth from death.
5La justeco de piulo ebenigas lian vojon; Sed malpiulo falos per sia malpieco.
5The righteousness of the perfect maketh plain his way; but the wicked falleth by his own wickedness.
6La justeco de piuloj savos ilin; Sed la pasio de maliculoj ilin kaptos.
6The righteousness of the upright delivereth them; but the treacherous are taken in their own craving.
7Kiam mortas homo pia, ne pereas lia espero; Sed la atendo de la pekuloj pereas.
7When a wicked man dieth, [his] expectation shall perish; and the hope of evil [men] perisheth.
8Piulo estas savata kontraux mizero, Kaj malpiulo venas sur lian lokon.
8The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.
9Per la busxo de hipokritulo difektigxas lia proksimulo; Sed per kompreno piuloj savigxas.
9With his mouth a hypocrite destroyeth his neighbour; but through knowledge are the righteous delivered.
10Kiam al la piuloj estas bone, la urbo gxojas; Kaj kiam pereas malpiuloj, gxi estas gaja.
10When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth; and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.
11Per la beno de piuloj urbo altigxas; Kaj per la busxo de malpiuloj gxi ruinigxas.
11By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted; but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
12Kiu mokas sian proksimulon, tiu estas malsagxulo; Sed homo prudenta silentas.
12He that despiseth his neighbour is void of heart; but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.
13Kiu iras kun kalumnioj, tiu elperfidas sekreton; Sed kiu havas fidelan spiriton, tiu konservas aferon.
13He that goeth about talebearing revealeth secrets; but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.
14CXe manko de prikonsiligxo popolo pereas; Sed cxe multe da konsilantoj estas bonstato.
14Where no advice is, the people fall; but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
15Malbonon faras al si tiu, kiu garantias por fremdulo; Sed kiu malamas donadon de mano, tiu estas ekster dangxero.
15It goeth ill with him that is surety for another; but he that hateth suretyship is secure.
16Aminda virino akiras honoron, Kaj potenculoj akiras ricxon.
16A gracious woman retaineth honour; and the violent retain riches.
17Bonkora homo donos bonon al sia animo, Kaj kruelulo detruas sian karnon.
17The merciful man doeth good to his own soul; but the cruel troubleth his own flesh.
18Malvirtulo akiras profiton malveran, Kaj la semanto de virto veran rekompencon.
18The wicked worketh a deceitful work; but he that soweth righteousness hath a sure reward.
19Bonfarado kondukas al vivo; Kaj kiu celas malbonon, tiu iras al sia morto.
19As righteousness [tendeth] to life, so he that pursueth evil [doeth it] to his own death.
20Abomenajxo por la Eternulo estas la malickoruloj; Sed placxas al Li tiuj, kiuj iras vojon pian.
20The perverse in heart are abomination to Jehovah; but they that are perfect in [their] way are his delight.
21Oni povas esti certa, ke malvirtulo ne restos senpuna; Sed la idaro de virtuloj estos savita.
21Hand for hand! an evil [man] shall not be held innocent; but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.
22Kiel ora ringo sur la nazo de porko, Tiel estas virino bela, sed malbonkonduta.
22A fair woman who is without discretion, is [as] a gold ring in a swine's snout.
23La deziro de virtuloj estas nur bono; Sed malvirtuloj povas esperi nur koleron.
23The desire of the righteous is only good; the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
24Unu disdonas, kaj ricxigxas cxiam pli; Alia tro avaras, kaj tamen nur malricxigxas.
24There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is right, but [it tendeth] only to want.
25Animo benanta gxuos bonstaton; Kaj kiu trinkigas, tiu mem havos suficxe por trinki.
25The liberal soul shall be made fat, and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
26Kiu retenas grenon, tiun malbenas la popolo; Sed beno venas sur la kapon de tiu, kiu disdonas.
26He that withholdeth corn, the people curse him; but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.
27Kiu celas bonon, tiu atingos placxon; Sed kiu sercxas malbonon, tiun gxi trafos.
27He that is earnest after good seeketh favour; but he that searcheth for mischief, it shall come upon him.
28Kiu fidas sian ricxecon, tiu falos; Sed virtuloj floros kiel juna folio.
28He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; but the righteous shall flourish as a leaf.
29Kiu detruas sian domon, tiu heredos venton; Kaj malsagxulo estas sklavo de sagxulo.
29He that troubleth his own house shall inherit wind; and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.
30La frukto de virtulo estas arbo de vivo; Kaj akiranto de animoj estas sagxulo.
30The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and the wise winneth souls.
31Se virtulo ricevas redonon sur la tero, Tiom pli malvirtulo kaj pekulo!
31Behold, the righteous shall be requited on the earth: how much more the wicked and the sinner.
