⁴La animo de maldiligentulo deziras, kaj ne ricevas; Sed la animo de diligentuloj satigxas.

⁴A sluggard's soul desireth and hath nothing; but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.

⁵Vorton malveran virtulo malamas; Sed malvirtulo agas abomene kaj venas al honto.

⁵A righteous [man] hateth lying; but the wicked maketh himself odious and cometh to shame.

⁶La virto gardas tiun, kiu iras gxustan vojon; Sed la malvirto pereigas pekulon.

⁶Righteousness preserveth him that is perfect in the way; but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.

⁷Unu sxajnigas sin ricxa, havante nenion; Alia sxajnigas sin malricxa, havante grandan ricxecon.

⁷There is that feigneth himself rich, and hath nothing; there is that maketh himself poor, and hath great wealth.

⁸Per sia ricxeco homo savas sian animon; Sed malricxulo ne auxskultas atentigon.

⁸The ransom of a man's life is his riches; but the indigent heareth not rebuke.

⁹La lumo de virtuloj brilegas; Sed la lumilo de malvirtuloj estingigxos.

⁹The light of the righteous rejoiceth; but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.

¹⁰Nur de malhumileco venas malpaco; Sed la akceptantaj konsilojn havas sagxon.

¹⁰By pride there only cometh contention; but with the well-advised is wisdom.

¹⁶Every prudent [man] acteth with knowledge; but the foolish layeth open [his] folly.

¹⁷A wicked messenger falleth into evil; but a faithful ambassador is health.

¹⁸Poverty and shame shall be [to] him that refuseth instruction; but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.
