¹After these things, Jesus went away to the other side of the sea of Galilee, which is also called the Sea of Tiberias.

²Kaj granda homamaso lin sekvis, cxar ili vidis la signojn, kiujn li faris por la malsanuloj.

²A great multitude followed him, because they saw his signs which he did on those who were sick.

³Kaj Jesuo supreniris sur la monton, kaj tie li sidis kun siaj discxiploj.

³Jesus went up into the mountain, and he sat there with his disciples.

⁴Kaj la Pasko, la festo de la Judoj, estis proksima.

⁴Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand.

⁵Jesuo do, levinte siajn okulojn, kaj ekvidinte, ke granda homamaso venas al li, diris al Filipo:De kie ni acxetu panojn, por ke cxi tiuj mangxu?

⁵Jesus therefore lifting up his eyes, and seeing that a great multitude was coming to him, said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, that these may eat?”

⁶This he said to test him, for he himself knew what he would do.

⁷Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that everyone of them may receive a little.”

⁸One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him,

⁹CXi tie estas knabo, kiu havas kvin hordeajn panojn kaj du malgrandajn fisxojn; sed kio estas tio por tiom da homoj?

⁹“There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are these among so many?”

¹⁰Jesuo diris:Sidigu la homojn. Kaj estis tie multe da herbo. La viroj do sidigxis, nombre cxirkaux kvin mil.

¹⁰Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in that place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.

¹¹Kaj Jesuo prenis la panojn, kaj doninte dankon, disdonis al la sidigxintoj; kaj tiel same el la fisxoj tiom, kiom oni deziris.

¹¹Jesus took the loaves; and having given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to those who were sitting down; likewise also of the fish as much as they desired.

¹²When they were filled, he said to his disciples, “Gather up the broken pieces which are left over, that nothing be lost.”

¹³Ili do kolektis ilin, kaj plenigis dek du korbojn per la fragmentoj de la kvin hordeaj panoj, kiuj postrestis al la mangxintoj.

¹³So they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces from the five barley loaves, which were left over by those who had eaten.

¹⁴Kiam do la homoj vidis la signon, kiun Jesuo faris, ili diris:CXi tiu estas vere la profeto, kiu devis veni en la mondon.

¹⁴When therefore the people saw the sign which Jesus did, they said, “This is truly the prophet who comes into the world.”

¹⁵Tial Jesuo, eksciante, ke oni celas veni kaj kapti lin, por fari lin regxo, denove fortiris sin sola al la monto.

¹⁵Jesus therefore, perceiving that they were about to come and take him by force, to make him king, withdrew again to the mountain by himself.

¹⁶Kaj kiam vesperigxis, liaj discxiploj malsupreniris al la maro;

¹⁶When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea,

¹⁷kaj ensxipigxinte, ili veturis trans la maron al Kapernaum. Kaj jam estis mallume, kaj Jesuo ankoraux ne venis al ili.

¹⁷and they entered into the boat, and were going over the sea to Capernaum. It was now dark, and Jesus had not come to them.

¹⁸The sea was tossed by a great wind blowing.

¹⁹When therefore they had rowed about twenty-five or thirty stadia, 25 to 30 stadia is about 5 to 6 kilometers or about 3 to 4 miles they saw Jesus walking on the sea, see Job 9:8 and drawing near to the boat; and they were afraid.

²⁰Sed li diris al ili:GXi estas mi; ne timu.

²⁰But he said to them, “It is I or, I AM . Don’t be afraid.”

²¹They were willing therefore to receive him into the boat. Immediately the boat was at the land where they were going.

²²On the next day, the multitude that stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there, except the one in which his disciples had embarked, and that Jesus hadn’t entered with his disciples into the boat, but his disciples had gone away alone.

²³(venis tamen sxipetoj el Tiberias proksime al la loko, kie oni mangxis la panon, post kiam la Sinjoro donis dankon) -

²³However boats from Tiberias came near to the place where they ate the bread after the Lord had given thanks.

²⁴kiam do la homamaso vidis, ke Jesuo ne estas tie, nek liaj discxiploj, ili ankaux eniris la sxipetojn kaj veturis al Kapernaum, sercxante Jesuon.

²⁴When the multitude therefore saw that Jesus wasn’t there, nor his disciples, they themselves got into the boats, and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.

²⁵Kaj trovinte lin trans la maro, ili diris al li:Rabeno, kiam vi venis cxi tien?

²⁵When they found him on the other side of the sea, they asked him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?”

²⁶Jesuo respondis al ili kaj diris:Vere, vere, mi diras al vi:Vi min sercxas, ne cxar vi vidis signojn, sed cxar vi mangxis el la panoj kaj satigxis.

²⁶Jesus answered them, “Most certainly I tell you, you seek me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves, and were filled.

²⁷Laboru ne por la pereema nutrajxo, sed por la nutrajxo, kiu restas gxis eterna vivo, kiun la Filo de homo donos al vi; cxar lin Dio, la Patro, sigelis.

²⁷ Don’t work for the food which perishes, but for the food which remains to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For God the Father has sealed him.”

²⁸Ili do diris al li:Kiel ni agu, por ke ni faru la farojn de Dio?

²⁸They said therefore to him, “What must we do, that we may work the works of God?”

²⁹Jesuo respondis kaj diris al ili:Jen la faro de Dio:kredi al tiu, kiun Li sendis.

²⁹Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”

³⁰Ili do diris al li:Kian signon vi montras, por ke ni vidu kaj kredu al vi? kion vi faras?

³⁰They said therefore to him, “What then do you do for a sign, that we may see, and believe you? What work do you do?

³¹Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness. As it is written, ‘He gave them bread out of heaven Greek and Hebrew use the same word for “heaven”, “the heavens”, “the sky”, and “the air”. to eat.’” Exodus 16:4; Nehemiah 9:15; Psalm 78:24-25

³²Jesuo do diris al ili:Vere, vere, mi diras al vi:Ne Moseo donis al vi tiun cxielan panon; sed mia Patro donas al vi la veran cxielan panon.

³²Jesus therefore said to them, “Most certainly, I tell you, it wasn’t Moses who gave you the bread out of heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread out of heaven.

³³CXar la pano de Dio estas tiu, kiu malsupreniras de la cxielo kaj donas vivon al la mondo.

³³ For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world.”

³⁴Ili do diris al li:Sinjoro, cxiam donu al ni tiun panon.

³⁴They said therefore to him, “Lord, always give us this bread.”

³⁵Jesuo diris al ili:Mi estas la pano de vivo; kiu venas al mi, tiu neniam malsatos, kaj kiu kredas al mi, tiu neniam soifos.

³⁵Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will not be hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.

³⁶Sed mi diris al vi, ke vi min vidis, kaj tamen vi ne kredas.

³⁶ But I told you that you have seen me, and yet you don’t believe.

³⁷CXio, kion la Patro donas al mi, venos al mi; kaj tiun, kiu venas al mi, mi ja ne eljxetos.

³⁷ All those whom the Father gives me will come to me. He who comes to me I will in no way throw out.

³⁸CXar mi malsupreniris de la cxielo, por plenumi ne mian volon, sed la volon de Tiu, kiu min sendis.

³⁸ For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me.

³⁹Kaj estas la volo de Tiu, kiu min sendis, ke el cxio, kion Li donis al mi, mi ne perdu ion, sed relevu gxin en la lasta tago.

³⁹ This is the will of my Father who sent me, that of all he has given to me I should lose nothing, but should raise him up at the last day.

⁴⁰CXar estas la volo de mia Patro, ke cxiu, kiu vidas la Filon kaj kredas al li, havu eternan vivon; kaj mi levos tiun en la lasta tago.

⁴⁰ This is the will of the one who sent me, that everyone who sees the Son, and believes in him, should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

⁴¹La Judoj do murmuris pri li, cxar li diris:Mi estas la pano, kiu malsupreniris de la cxielo.

⁴¹The Jews therefore murmured concerning him, because he said, “I am the bread which came down out of heaven.”

⁴²Kaj ili diris:CXu cxi tiu ne estas Jesuo, filo de Jozef, kies patron kaj patrinon ni konas? kiel do li diras:Mi malsupreniris de la cxielo?

⁴²They said, “Isn’t this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then does he say, ‘I have come down out of heaven?’”

⁴³Jesuo respondis kaj diris al ili:Ne murmuru inter vi.

⁴³Therefore Jesus answered them, “Don’t murmur among yourselves.

⁴⁴Neniu povas veni al mi, se la Patro, kiu min sendis, ne tiros lin; kaj mi levos tiun en la lasta tago.

⁴⁴ No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up in the last day.

⁴⁵Estas skribite en la profetoj:Kaj cxiuj estos instruitaj de Dio. CXiu do, kiu auxdis de la Patro kaj lernis, venas al mi.

⁴⁵ It is written in the prophets, ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Isaiah 54:13 Therefore everyone who hears from the Father, and has learned, comes to me.

⁴⁶Neniu vidis la Patron, krom tiu, kiu estas de Dio; li vidis la Patron.

⁴⁶ Not that anyone has seen the Father, except he who is from God. He has seen the Father.

⁴⁷Vere, vere, mi diras al vi:Kiu kredas, tiu havas vivon eternan.

⁴⁷ Most certainly, I tell you, he who believes in me has eternal life.

⁴⁸Mi estas la pano de vivo.

⁴⁸ I am the bread of life.

⁴⁹ Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died.

⁵⁰Jen la pano, kiu malsupreniris de la cxielo, por ke oni mangxu el gxi kaj ne mortu.

⁵⁰ This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, that anyone may eat of it and not die.

⁵¹Mi estas la viva pano, kiu malsupreniris de la cxielo; se iu mangxos el cxi tiu pano, tiu vivos eterne; kaj la pano, kiun mi donos, estas mia karno, por la vivo de la mondo.

⁵¹ I am the living bread which came down out of heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. Yes, the bread which I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”

⁵²La Judoj do disputis inter si, dirante:Kiel cxi tiu povas doni al ni sian karnon por mangxi?

⁵²The Jews therefore contended with one another, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”

⁵³Jesuo do diris al ili:Vere, vere, mi diras al vi:Se vi ne mangxas la karnon de la Filo de homo kaj ne trinkas lian sangon, vi ne havas en vi vivon.

⁵³Jesus therefore said to them, “Most certainly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you don’t have life in yourselves.

⁵⁴Kiu mangxas mian karnon kaj trinkas mian sangon, tiu havas eternan vivon; kaj mi levos tiun en la lasta tago.

⁵⁴ He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.

⁵⁵CXar mia karno estas vera mangxajxo, kaj mia sango estas vera trinkajxo.

⁵⁵ For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.

⁵⁶Kiu mangxas mian karnon kaj trinkas mian sangon, tiu restas en mi, kaj mi en li.

⁵⁶ He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me, and I in him.

⁵⁷Kiel la vivanta Patro min sendis, kaj mi vivas pro la Patro, tiel, kiu min mangxas, tiu vivos pro mi.

⁵⁷ As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father; so he who feeds on me, he will also live because of me.

⁵⁸Jen la pano, kiu malsupreniris de la cxielo; ne kiel la patroj mangxis, kaj mortis; kiu mangxas cxi tiun panon, tiu vivos eterne.

⁵⁸ This is the bread which came down out of heaven—not as our fathers ate the manna, and died. He who eats this bread will live forever.”

⁵⁹Tion li diris en la sinagogo, instruante en Kapernaum.

⁵⁹He said these things in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.

⁶⁰Multaj do el liaj discxiploj, auxdinte tion, diris:Malfacila estas tiu parolo; kiu povas lin auxskulti?

⁶⁰Therefore many of his disciples, when they heard this, said, “This is a hard saying! Who can listen to it?”

⁶¹Sed Jesuo, sciante en si mem, ke liaj discxiploj pri tio murmuris, diris al ili:CXu tio faligas vin?

⁶¹But Jesus knowing in himself that his disciples murmured at this, said to them, “Does this cause you to stumble?

⁶²Kio do, se vi vidos la Filon de homo supreniranta tien, kie li antauxe estis?

⁶² Then what if you would see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?

⁶³La spirito estas la viviganto; la karno nenion utilas; la vortoj, kiujn mi diris al vi, estas spirito kaj estas vivo.

⁶³ It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life.

⁶⁴Sed estas iuj el vi, kiuj ne kredas. CXar Jesuo sciis de la komenco, kiuj estas la nekredantoj, kaj kiu lin perfidos.

⁶⁴ But there are some of you who don’t believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who didn’t believe, and who it was who would betray him.

⁶⁵Kaj li diris:Tial mi diris al vi, ke neniu povas veni al mi, se tio ne estas donita al li de mia Patro.

⁶⁵He said, “For this cause have I said to you that no one can come to me, unless it is given to him by my Father.”

⁶⁶CXe tio multaj el liaj discxiploj iris returne kaj lin ne plu akompanis.

⁶⁶At this, many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

⁶⁷Jesuo do diris al la dek du:CXu vi ankaux volas foriri?

⁶⁷Jesus said therefore to the twelve, “You don’t also want to go away, do you?”

⁶⁸Simon Petro respondis al li:Sinjoro, al kiu ni iru? vi havas la vortojn de eterna vivo.

⁶⁸Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life.

⁶⁹Kaj ni ekkredis kaj scias, ke vi estas la Sanktulo de Dio.

⁶⁹We have come to believe and know that you are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

⁷⁰Respondis al ili Jesuo:CXu mi ne elektis vin la dek du, kaj unu el vi estas diablo?

⁷⁰Jesus answered them, “Didn’t I choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?”

⁷¹Li parolis pri Judas Iskariota, filo de Simon; cxar tiu, unu el la dek du, estis perfidonta lin.

⁷¹Now he spoke of Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, for it was he who would betray him, being one of the twelve.
