¹Kaj post tio Jesuo iradis en Galileo; cxar li ne volis iradi en Judujo, cxar la Judoj celis mortigi lin.

¹After these things, Jesus was walking in Galilee, for he wouldn’t walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him.

²La festo de la Judoj, nomata la festo de lauxboj, proksimigxis.

²Now the feast of the Jews, the Feast of Booths, was at hand.

³Liaj fratoj do diris al li:Transiru de cxi tie, kaj iru en Judujon, por ke viaj discxiploj ankaux vidu viajn farojn, kiujn vi faras.

³His brothers therefore said to him, “Depart from here, and go into Judea, that your disciples also may see your works which you do.

⁴CXar neniu faras ion sekrete, kaj celas mem esti publike konata. Se vi faras tiajn farojn, montru vin al la mondo.

⁴For no one does anything in secret, and himself seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, reveal yourself to the world.”

⁵CXar liaj fratoj mem ne kredis al li.

⁵For even his brothers didn’t believe in him.

⁶Jesuo do diris al ili:Mia tempo ankoraux ne venis; sed via tempo cxiam estas preta.

⁶Jesus therefore said to them, “My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.

⁷La mondo ne povas vin malami; sed min gxi malamas, cxar mi atestas pri gxi, ke gxiaj faroj estas malbonaj.

⁷ The world can’t hate you, but it hates me, because I testify about it, that its works are evil.

⁸Supreniru vi al la festo; mi ankoraux ne supreniras al la festo, cxar mia tempo ankoraux ne maturigxis.

⁸ You go up to the feast. I am not yet going up to this feast, because my time is not yet fulfilled.”

⁹Dirinte tion al ili, li restis ankoraux en Galileo.

⁹Having said these things to them, he stayed in Galilee.

¹⁰Sed kiam liaj fratoj supreniris al la festo, tiam li ankaux supreniris, ne malkasxe, sed kvazaux sekrete.

¹⁰But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly, but as it were in secret.

¹¹La Judoj do sercxis lin cxe la festo, kaj diris:Kie li estas?

¹¹The Jews therefore sought him at the feast, and said, “Where is he?”

¹²Kaj farigxis multe da murmurado inter la homamasoj pri li. Unuj diris:Li estas bonulo; aliaj diris:Ne, sed li erarigas la amason.

¹²There was much murmuring among the multitudes concerning him. Some said, “He is a good man.” Others said, “Not so, but he leads the multitude astray.”

¹³Tamen neniu parolis malkasxe pri li, pro timo antaux la Judoj.

¹³Yet no one spoke openly of him for fear of the Jews.

¹⁴Sed cxirkaux la mezo de la festo, Jesuo supreniris en la templon kaj instruis.

¹⁴But when it was now the midst of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and taught.

¹⁵Kaj la Judoj miris, dirante:Kiel cxi tiu scias skribojn, neniam lerninte?

¹⁵The Jews therefore marveled, saying, “How does this man know letters, having never been educated?”

¹⁶Jesuo respondis al ili kaj diris:Mia instruado estas ne mia, sed Ties, kiu min sendis.

¹⁶Jesus therefore answered them, “My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me.

¹⁷Se iu volas plenumi Lian volon, tiu scios pri la instruado, cxu gxi estas de Dio, aux cxu mi parolas nur el mi mem.

¹⁷ If anyone desires to do his will, he will know about the teaching, whether it is from God, or if I am speaking from myself.

¹⁸Kiu parolas el si mem, tiu celas sian propran gloron; sed kiu celas la gloron de Tiu, kiu lin sendis, tiu estas verema, kaj maljusteco ne estas en li.

¹⁸ He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory, but he who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

¹⁹CXu Moseo ne donis al vi la legxon? kaj neniu el vi observas la legxon. Kial vi celas mortigi min?

¹⁹ Didn’t Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keeps the law? Why do you seek to kill me?”

²⁰La homamaso respondis:Vi havas demonon; kiu celas mortigi vin?

²⁰The multitude answered, “You have a demon! Who seeks to kill you?”

²¹Jesuo respondis kaj diris al ili:Mi faris unu faron, kaj vi cxiuj miras pro tio.

²¹Jesus answered them, “I did one work, and you all marvel because of it.

²²Moseo donis al vi cirkumcidon (tamen gxi estas ne de Moseo, sed de la patroj); kaj vi en la sabato cirkumcidas viron.

²² Moses has given you circumcision (not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers), and on the Sabbath you circumcise a boy.

²³Se viro estas cirkumcidata en la sabato, por ke oni ne malobeu al la Mosea legxo, cxu vi koleras kontraux mi pro tio, ke mi tute sanigis viron en sabato?

²³ If a boy receives circumcision on the Sabbath, that the law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with me, because I made a man completely healthy on the Sabbath?

²⁴Ne jugxu laux sxajno, sed jugxu justan jugxon.

²⁴ Don’t judge according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment.”

²⁵Tiam kelkaj el la Jerusalemanoj diris:CXu li ne estas tiu, kiun oni celas mortigi?

²⁵Therefore some of them of Jerusalem said, “Isn’t this he whom they seek to kill?

²⁶Kaj jen li parolas maltime, kaj ili diras al li nenion. CXu eble la estraro certe scias, ke cxi tiu estas la Kristo?

²⁶Behold, he speaks openly, and they say nothing to him. Can it be that the rulers indeed know that this is truly the Christ?

²⁷Tamen ni scias, de kie cxi tiu estas; sed kiam la Kristo venos, neniu scios, de kie li estas.

²⁷However we know where this man comes from, but when the Christ comes, no one will know where he comes from.”

²⁸Jesuo do, instruante en la templo, ekkriis kaj diris:Vi jam min konas, kaj vi ankaux scias, de kie mi estas; kaj mi ne venis de mi mem; sed Tiu, kiu min sendis, estas vera, sed Lin vi ne konas.

²⁸Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, “You both know me, and know where I am from. I have not come of myself, but he who sent me is true, whom you don’t know.

²⁹Mi Lin konas, cxar mi estas de Li; kaj Li min sendis.

²⁹ I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me.”

³⁰Oni do celis kapti lin; sed neniu metis sur lin sian manon, cxar lia horo ankoraux ne venis.

³⁰They sought therefore to take him; but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come.

³¹Kaj multaj el la homamaso kredis al li, kaj diris:Kiam la Kristo venos, cxu li faros pli multe da signoj, ol cxi tiu faris?

³¹But of the multitude, many believed in him. They said, “When the Christ comes, he won’t do more signs than those which this man has done, will he?”

³²La Fariseoj auxdis la amason murmuranta tion pri li, kaj la cxefpastroj kaj la Fariseoj sendis oficistojn, por kapti lin.

³²The Pharisees heard the multitude murmuring these things concerning him, and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to arrest him.

³³Jesuo do diris al ili:Ankoraux iom da tempo mi estas kun vi, kaj mi foriras al Tiu, kiu min sendis.

³³Then Jesus said, “I will be with you a little while longer, then I go to him who sent me.

³⁴Vi min sercxos kaj ne trovos; kaj kie mi estas, vi ne povas tien veni.

³⁴ You will seek me, and won’t find me; and where I am, you can’t come.”

³⁵Tial la Judoj inter si diris:Kien cxi tiu iros, ke ni lin ne trovos? cxu li iros al la disjxetitoj inter la Grekoj kaj instruos la Grekojn?

³⁵The Jews therefore said among themselves, “Where will this man go that we won’t find him? Will he go to the Dispersion among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?

³⁶Kia diro estas tio, kion li diris:Vi min sercxos kaj ne trovos, kaj:Kie mi estas, vi ne povas tien veni?

³⁶What is this word that he said, ‘You will seek me, and won’t find me; and where I am, you can’t come’? ”

³⁷En la lasta tago, la granda tago de la festo, Jesuo staris kaj kriis, dirante:Se iu soifas, tiu venu al mi kaj trinku.

³⁷Now on the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink!

³⁸Kiu kredas al mi, kiel la Skribo diris, el ties ventro fluos riveroj da viva akvo.

³⁸ He who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, from within him will flow rivers of living water.”

³⁹Sed tion li diris pri la Spirito, kiun estis ricevontaj tiuj, kiuj kredis al li; cxar la Spirito ankoraux ne estis donita, cxar Jesuo ankoraux ne estis glorita.

³⁹But he said this about the Spirit, which those believing in him were to receive. For the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus wasn’t yet glorified.

⁴⁰Iuj do el la homamaso, auxdinte tiujn vortojn, diris:Vere cxi tiu estas la Profeto.

⁴⁰Many of the multitude therefore, when they heard these words, said, “This is truly the prophet.”

⁴¹Aliaj diris:CXi tiu estas la Kristo. Sed kelkaj diris:Tamen cxu el Galileo la Kristo venas?

⁴¹Others said, “This is the Christ.” But some said, “What, does the Christ come out of Galilee?

⁴²CXu la Skribo ne diris, ke la Kristo venas el la idaro de David kaj el la vilagxo Bet-Lehxem, kie David estis?

⁴²Hasn’t the Scripture said that the Christ comes of the seed of David, 2 Samuel 7:12 and from Bethlehem, Micah 5:2 the village where David was?”

⁴³Tiel farigxis pro li malkonsento inter la homamaso.

⁴³So there arose a division in the multitude because of him.

⁴⁴Kaj iuj el ili volis kapti lin, sed neniu metis sur lin la manojn.

⁴⁴Some of them would have arrested him, but no one laid hands on him.

⁴⁵Tiam la oficistoj revenis al la cxefpastroj kaj Fariseoj, kaj cxi tiuj diris al ili:Kial vi lin ne alkondukis?

⁴⁵The officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, “Why didn’t you bring him?”

⁴⁶Respondis la oficistoj:Ankoraux neniam tiel parolis homo.

⁴⁶The officers answered, “No man ever spoke like this man!”

⁴⁷La Fariseoj do respondis al ili:CXu vi ankaux estas erarigitaj?

⁴⁷The Pharisees therefore answered them, “You aren’t also led astray, are you?

⁴⁸CXu kredis al li iu el la regantoj, aux el la Fariseoj?

⁴⁸Have any of the rulers believed in him, or of the Pharisees?

⁴⁹Sed tiu homamaso, kiu ne scias la legxon, estas malbenita.

⁴⁹But this multitude that doesn’t know the law is accursed.”

⁵⁰Tiam Nikodemo (tiu, kiu venis nokte al Jesuo, estante unu el ili) diris al ili:

⁵⁰Nicodemus (he who came to him by night, being one of them) said to them,

⁵¹CXu nia legxo jugxas iun, se antauxe oni ne auxskultis lin, kaj ne sciigxis, kion li faras?

⁵¹“Does our law judge a man, unless it first hears from him personally and knows what he does?”

⁵²Ili respondis kaj diris al li:CXu vi ankaux estas el Galileo? Esploru, kaj vidu, ke neniam el Galileo venas profeto.

⁵²They answered him, “Are you also from Galilee? Search, and see that no prophet has arisen out of Galilee. See Isaiah 9:1 and Matthew 4:13-16. ”
