2Will der Tadler mit dem Allmächtigen hadern? Wer Gott zurechtweisen will, antworte nun!

3Da antwortete Hiob dem HERRN und sprach:
3Ano ra ko Hopa ki a Ihowa; i mea ia,
4Siehe, ich bin zu gering; was soll ich Dir antworten? Ich will meine Hand auf meinen Mund legen!

6Und der HERR antwortete dem Hiob aus dem Wetter und sprach:

7Gürte doch deine Lenden wie ein Mann; ich will dich fragen; sage her!
7Tena ra, whakatane, whitikiria tou hope, a ka ui atu ahau ki a koe, mau ano e whakaatu mai ki ahau.
8Willst du mir mein Recht absprechen, mir Ungerechtigkeit nachweisen, damit du gerecht seiest?

9Ist denn dein Arm dem Arme Gottes gleich, oder sprichst du mit Donnerstimme wie er?

10Bekleide dich doch mit Macht und Majestät und umgib dich mit Herrlichkeit und Glanz!

11Ergieße deines Zornes Fluten, siehe an jeden Stolzen und demütige ihn!

12Siehe an jeden Stolzen, erniedrige ihn und reiß die Gottlosen herunter!

13Begrabe sie miteinander im Staub, umhülle ihre Angesichter mit Finsternis!

14Dann will auch ich dich preisen, daß deine Rechte dir geholfen hat.

15Siehe doch das Flußpferd, das ich gemacht habe wie dich: Gras frißt es wie ein Ochs!

16Siehe doch, welche Kraft in seinen Lenden liegt und welche Stärke in den Sehnen seines Bauches!

17Es biegt seinen Schweif wie eine Zeder; die Sehnen seiner Lenden sind fest verschlungen.

18Seine Knochen sind wie eiserne Röhren, seine Schenkel wie geschmiedete Stäbe.

19Es ist der Erstling der Wege Gottes; der es gemacht hat, reichte ihm sein Schwert.

20Denn Futter tragen ihm die Berge, wo alle Tiere des Feldes spielen.

23Siehe, der Strom tritt über seine Ufer! Es fürchtet sich nicht; es bleibe wohl ruhig, wenn ein Jordan sich in seinen Mund ergöße!
