¹God, give the king your justice; your righteousness to the royal son.

²að hann dæmi lýð þinn með réttvísi og þína þjáðu með sanngirni.

²He will judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice.

³Fjöllin beri lýðnum frið og hálsarnir réttlæti.

³The mountains shall bring prosperity to the people. The hills bring the fruit of righteousness.

⁴Hann láti hina þjáðu meðal lýðsins ná rétti sínum, hann hjálpi hinum snauðu og kremji kúgarann.

⁴He will judge the poor of the people. He will save the children of the needy, and will break the oppressor in pieces.

⁵Þá mun hann lifa meðan sólin skín og tunglið ber birtu, frá kyni til kyns.

⁵They shall fear you while the sun endures; and as long as the moon, throughout all generations.

⁶Hann mun falla sem regn á slægjuland, sem regnskúrir, er vökva landið.

⁶He will come down like rain on the mown grass, as showers that water the earth.

⁷Um hans daga skal réttlætið blómgast og gnóttir friðar, uns tunglið er eigi framar til.

⁷In his days, the righteous shall flourish, and abundance of peace, until the moon is no more.

⁸Og hann skal ríkja frá hafi til hafs, frá Fljótinu til endimarka jarðar.

⁸He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, from the River to the ends of the earth.

⁹Fjandmenn hans skulu beygja kné fyrir honum og óvinir hans sleikja duftið.

⁹Those who dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him. His enemies shall lick the dust.

¹⁰Konungarnir frá Tarsis og eylöndunum skulu koma með gjafir, konungarnir frá Saba og Seba skulu færa skatt.

¹⁰The kings of Tarshish and of the islands will bring tribute. The kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.

¹¹Og allir konungar skulu lúta honum, allar þjóðir þjóna honum.

¹¹Yes, all kings shall fall down before him. All nations shall serve him.

¹²Hann bjargar hinum snauða, er hrópar á hjálp, og hinum þjáða, er enginn liðsinnir.

¹²For he will deliver the needy when he cries; the poor, who has no helper.

¹³Hann aumkast yfir bágstadda og snauða, og fátækum hjálpar hann.

¹³He will have pity on the poor and needy. He will save the souls of the needy.

¹⁴Frá ofbeldi og ofríki leysir hann þá, og blóð þeirra er dýrmætt í augum hans.

¹⁴He will redeem their soul from oppression and violence. Their blood will be precious in his sight.

¹⁵Hann mun lifa og menn munu gefa honum Saba-gull, menn munu sífellt biðja fyrir honum, blessa hann liðlangan daginn.

¹⁵They shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba. Men shall pray for him continually. They shall bless him all day long.

¹⁶Gnóttir korns munu vera í landinu, á fjallatindunum, í gróðri þess mun þjóta eins og í Líbanon, og menn skulu spretta upp í borgunum eins og gras úr jörðu.

¹⁶Abundance of grain shall be throughout the land. Its fruit sways like Lebanon. Let it flourish, thriving like the grass of the field.

¹⁷Nafn hans mun vara að eilífu, meðan sólin skín mun nafn hans gróa. Og með honum skulu allar ættkvíslir jarðarinnar óska sér blessunar, allar þjóðir munu hann sælan segja.

¹⁷His name endures forever. His name continues as long as the sun. Men shall be blessed by him. All nations will call him blessed.

¹⁸Lofaður sé Drottinn, Guð, Ísraels Guð, sem einn gjörir furðuverk,

¹⁸Praise be to Yahweh God, the God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds.
