¹われらはバビロンの川のほとりにすわり、シオンを思い出して涙を流した。

¹By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down. Yes, we wept, when we remembered Zion.

²われらはその中のやなぎにわれらの琴をかけた。

²On the willows in its midst, we hung up our harps.

³われらをとりこにした者が、われらに歌を求めたからである。われらを苦しめる者が楽しみにしようと、「われらにシオンの歌を一つうたえ」と言った。

⁴われらは外国にあって、どうして主の歌をうたえようか。

⁵エルサレムよ、もしわたしがあなたを忘れるならば、わが右の手を衰えさせてください。

⁶もしわたしがあなたを思い出さないならば、もしわたしがエルサレムをわが最高の喜びとしないならば、わが舌をあごにつかせてください。

⁶Let my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth if I don’t remember you; if I don’t prefer Jerusalem above my chief joy.
