1?-țideț mi qqaṛen : « ma yella win yebɣan ad yuɣal d amdebbeṛ di tejmaɛt d ayen yelhan i gețmenni ».
1The word [is] faithful: if any one aspires to exercise oversight, he desires a good work.
2Lameɛna amdebbeṛ di tejmaɛt ur ilaq ara ad afen deg-s lɣaci wayen ara s-d-ssukksen, ilaq ad yesɛu yiwet n tmeṭṭut kan, ad yili d win iḥekkmen deg iman-is, d aɛeqli, d win iteddun s ṣṣwab. Ilaq ad yili d win yesṭerḥiben deg wexxam-is, d win izemren ad isselmed awal n Ṛebbi ;
2The overseer then must be irreproachable, husband of one wife, sober, discreet, decorous, hospitable, apt to teach;
3ur yețțili ara d asekṛan neɣ d amčaqlal meɛna ad yili d aḥnin d imhenni. Ur ilaq ara ad iḥemmel idrimen ;
3not given to excesses from wine, not a striker, but mild, not addicted to contention, not fond of money,
4ilaq daɣen ad yissin amek ara idebbeṛ ɣef wexxam-is, arraw-is ad ilin d wid yețțaɣen awal yerna a t-țqadaṛen.
4conducting his own house well, having [his] children in subjection with all gravity;
5Axaṭer ma yella walebɛaḍ ur yezmir ara ad idebbeṛ ɣef wexxam is, amek ara idebbeṛ di tejmaɛt n Sidi Ṛebbi ?
5(but if one does not know how to conduct his own house, how shall he take care of the assembly of God?)
6Amdebbeṛ di tejmaɛt ur ilaq ara ad yili d ajdid di liman di Ɛisa Lmasiḥ, m'ulac a t-yekcem zzux, aț-țedṛu yid-es akken tedṛa d Cciṭan. f+
6not a novice, that he may not, being inflated, fall into [the] fault of the devil.
7Ilaq ula d wid ur numin ara s Ɛisa Lmasiḥ a d-cehden fell-as s lxiṛ ur țțafen ara deg-s wayen ara s-d ssukksen, iwakken ur iɣelli ara di tecṛektin n Cciṭan.
7But it is necessary that he should have also a good testimony from those without, that he may fall not into reproach and [the] snare of the devil.
8Ministers, in like manner, grave, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not seeking gain by base means,
9Ilaq ad ḥerzen s wul yeṣfan lbaḍna n liman i d-yețwakecfen.
9holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
10Ilaq ula d nutni ad țwajeṛben di leqdic-nsen, m'ur ufin ara ayen ara sen-d-ssukksen imiren zemren ad qedcen di tejmaɛt.
10And let these be first proved, then let them minister, being without charge [against them].
11Ula ț-țiqeddacin n tejmaɛt ilaq ad sɛunt lḥeṛma, ur țmeslayent ara cceṛ ɣef wiyaḍ, ad ilint ț-țiɛeqliyin, ț-țid i ɣef yella lețkal ɣef kullec.
11[The] women in like manner grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.
12Iqeddacen n tejmaɛt ilaq ad sɛun yiwet n tmeṭṭut kan yerna ad ḍebbṛen ɣef yexxamen-nsen d warraw-nsen akken ilaq.
12Let [the] ministers be husbands of one wife, conducting [their] children and their own houses well:
13Axaṭer wid iqeddcen ɣef tejmaɛt akken ilaq, ad yali leqdeṛ-nsen ad nnernin di liman yerna ad sɛun lețkal d ameqqran di Ɛisa Lmasiḥ.
13for those who shall have ministered well obtain for themselves a good degree, and much boldness in faith which [is] in Christ Jesus.
14Uriɣ-ak-n meṛṛa annect-agi ɣas akken ssarameɣ a n-aseɣ ɣuṛ-ek,
14These things I write to thee, hoping to come to thee more quickly;
15iwakken ma ɛeṭṭleɣ ur n-usiɣ ara aț-țissineḍ amek i glaq aț-țedduḍ deg wexxam n Sidi Ṛebbi i gellan ț-țajmaɛt n Ṛebbi yeddren. Tajmaɛt-agi, ț-țigejdit i ɣef ters tideț.
15but if I delay, in order that thou mayest know how one ought to conduct oneself in God's house, which is [the] assembly of [the] living God, [the] pillar and base of the truth.
16S tideț acḥal meqqṛet lbaḍna n Lmasiḥ yellan d sebba n liman-nneɣ : win akken i d-yusan s ṣṣifa n wemdan, i ɣef d-icehhed Ṛṛuḥ iqedsen, tɛeǧǧbent deg-s lmalayekkat, yețwabecceṛ i leǧnas, umnen yis di ddunit meṛṛa, yețwarfed s tmanegt tameqqrant ɣer igenwan.
16And confessedly the mystery of piety is great. God has been manifested in flesh, has been justified in [the] Spirit, has appeared to angels, has been preached among [the] nations, has been believed on in [the] world, has been received up in glory.
