1Ihi d acu i sɛan n wat Isṛail sennig wiyaḍ ? D acu n nnfeɛ yellan di ṭṭhaṛa ?
1What then [is] the superiority of the Jew? or what the profit of circumcision?
2Lfayda tella yerna ț-țameqqrant di mkul tama, axaṭer d nutni iwumi d-yefka Sidi Ṛebbi awal-is d imezwura.
2Much every way: and first, indeed, that to them were entrusted the oracles of God.
3Ma yella ihi kra deg-sen ɛuṣan awal-is, eɛni Sidi Ṛebbi a ten-inkeṛ meṛṛa i lmend-nsen ?
3For what? if some have not believed, shall their unbelief make the faith of God of none effect?
4D lmuḥal ! Sidi Ṛebbi d aḥeqqi, d imdanen kan i geskiddiben ; am akken yura di tektabt n ?abur : Iwakken a d-iban lḥeqq n wawal-ik, yerna m'ara tețḥasabeḍ, d kečč i gesɛan lḥeqq.
4Far be the thought: but let God be true, and every man false; according as it is written, So that thou shouldest be justified in thy words, and shouldest overcome when thou art in judgment.
5Ma yella lbaṭel i nxeddem isban-ed lḥeqq n Sidi Ṛebbi, d acu ara d-nini ? Eɛni Sidi Ṛebbi ur yesɛi ara lḥeqq m'ara ɣ-iɛaqeb ? ( Nniɣ-ed ayagi s lɛeqliya n wemdan. )
5But if our unrighteousness commend God's righteousness, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who inflicts wrath? I speak according to man.
6?-țideț yesɛa lḥeqq ! Neɣ m'ulac amek ara iḥaseb ddunit ?
6Far be the thought: since how shall God judge the world?
7Ma yella lekdeb-iw ițbeggin-ed tideț n Sidi Ṛebbi yerna isnernay di lɛaḍima-s, acuɣer ihi mazal-iyi țwaḥesbeɣ d amednub ?
7For if the truth of God, in my lie, has more abounded to his glory, why yet am *I* also judged as a sinner?
8Llan kra n yemdanen heddṛen fell-aɣ s ẓẓuṛ, qqaṛen belli nenna-d : « Acuɣeṛ ur nxeddem ara cceṛ iwakken a d-yeffeɣ lxiṛ ? » Imdanen am wigi uklalen lɛiqab n Sidi Ṛebbi.
8and not, according as we are injuriously charged, and according as some affirm that we say, Let us practise evil things, that good ones may come? whose judgment is just.
9Amek ihi ? Eɛni Nukni s wat Isṛail axiṛ n wiyaḍ ? Xaṭi ! Nniɣ-ed yakan belli am wat Isṛail am leǧnas nniḍen, d aklan n ddnub meṛṛa.
9What then? are we better? No, in no wise: for we have before charged both Jews and Greeks with being all under sin:
10Akken yura di tektabt iqedsen : Ulac amdan aḥeqqi, ulac ula d yiwen,
10according as it is written, There is not a righteous [man], not even one;
11 Yiwen ur ifhim, yiwen ur yețqellib ɣef Sidi Ṛebbi, ffɣen akk i webrid, uɣalen d imejhal ;
11there is not the [man] that understands, there is not one that seeks after God.
12 ulac win ixeddmen lxiṛ, ulac ula d yiwen.
12All have gone out of the way, they have together become unprofitable; there is not one that practises goodness, there is not so much as one:
13Imawen-nsen ldin am iẓekwan, Ilsawen-nsen d ixeddaɛen. ?čuṛen d ssem am izerman.
13their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; asps' poison [is] under their lips:
14 Imawen-nsen ččuṛen d ddeɛwat n cceṛ ț-țeṛzeg.
14whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness;
15 Iḍaṛṛen-nsen țɣawalen iwakken ad ssizlen idammen ;
15swift their feet to shed blood;
16 ansi ɛeddan ad ǧǧen axeṣṣar d nnger di lateṛ-nsen.
16ruin and misery [are] in their ways,
17 Ur ssinen ara abrid n lehna ;
17and way of peace they have not known:
18 ur sɛin ara deg ul-nsen tugdi n Sidi Ṛebbi.
18there is no fear of God before their eyes.
19Neẓra belli ayen akk i d-tenna ccariɛa, tenna-t-id i wid yellan seddaw leḥkum n ccariɛa iwakken imdanen meṛṛa ad zemmemen yimawen-nsen, ad ẓren belli d imednuben i llan zdat Sidi Ṛebbi.
19Now we know that whatever the things the law says, it speaks to those under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world be under judgment to God.
20Ur yezmir yiwen ad yili d aḥeqqi ɣer Sidi Ṛebbi imi i gexdem ayen i d-teqqaṛ ccariɛa ; axaṭer ccariɛa tețbeggin-ed kan i wemdan belli d amednub i gella.
20Wherefore by works of law no flesh shall be justified before him; for by law [is] knowledge of sin.
21Tura Sidi Ṛebbi isbeggen-aɣ-d amek ara nuɣal d iḥeqqiyen zdat-es mbla ccariɛa. Ayagi yella di ccariɛa n Musa akk-d tektabin n lenbiya.
21But now without law righteousness of God is manifested, borne witness to by the law and the prophets;
22Sidi Ṛebbi iḥseb-aɣ d iḥeqqiyen imi numen s Ɛisa Lmasiḥ,
22righteousness of God by faith of Jesus Christ towards all, and upon all those who believe: for there is no difference;
23axaṭer ulac lxilaf ger yemdanen imi denben meṛṛa, țwaḥeṛmen si lɛaḍima n Sidi Ṛebbi.
23for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24Lameɛna s ṛṛeḥma-ines, yerra-ten d iḥeqqiyen mbla lexlaṣ, s Ɛisa Lmasiḥ i ten-id-icufeɛ.
24being justified freely by his grace through the redemption which [is] in Christ Jesus;
25D nețța i d-ifka Sidi Ṛebbi d asfel fell-aɣ iwakken s idammen-is yuzzlen, a d-yawi leɛfu n ddnub i yemdanen meṛṛa ara yamnen yis. Akka i d-ibeggen Sidi Ṛebbi lḥeqq-ines ; axaṭer zik-nni, asm'akken i sen-iṣbeṛ, ur iɛuqeb ara imdanen ɣef ddnubat-nsen ;
25whom God has set forth a mercy-seat, through faith in his blood, for [the] shewing forth of his righteousness, in respect of the passing by the sins that had taken place before, through the forbearance of God;
26ma ț-țura isken-ed amek i ten-yerra d iḥeqqiyen zdat-es, axaṭer yebɣa a d-ibeggen belli nețța d aḥeqqi yerna ad yerr d iḥeqqiyen wid akk ara yamnen s Ɛisa.
26for [the] shewing forth of his righteousness in the present time, so that he should be just, and justify him that is of [the] faith of Jesus.
27Anda-ț sebba n zzux ? Ulac ! Axaṭer mačči s lefɛayel ara nzux meɛna s liman.
27Where then [is] boasting? It has been excluded. By what law? of works? Nay, but by law of faith;
28Nukni neẓra amdan ad yuɣal d aḥeqqi zdat Ṛebbi s liman-ines mačči s wayen i d-tenna ccariɛa.
28for we reckon that a man is justified by faith, without works of law.
29Eɛni Sidi Ṛebbi, d Illu n wat Isṛail kan ? Ur yelli ara d Illu n leǧnas nniḍen ? Ula d nutni d Illu-nsen
29Is [God] the God of Jews only? is he not of [the] nations also? Yea, of nations also:
30imi yiwen n Ṛebbi kan i gellan ; ad yerr d iḥeqqiyen zdat-es wid akk yumnen, am wid iḍehṛen am wid ur neḍhiṛ.
30since indeed [it is] one God who shall justify [the] circumcision on the principle of faith, and uncircumcision by faith.
31Ma nenna-d akka, mačči d lqima n ccariɛa i nebɣa a nesseɣli, meɛna d lqima-ines n ṣṣeḥ i s-nefka.
31Do we then make void law by faith? Far be the thought: [no,] but we establish law.
