1Ary toy izany koa, ianareo vehivavy, maneke ny vadinareo, mba ho voataonan'ny fitondran-tenan'ny vavy izy, na dia tsy amin'ny teny aza (raha tàhiny misy tsy manaiky ny teny),
1In like manner, the wives, be ye subject to your own husbands, that even if certain are disobedient to the word, through the conversation of the wives, without the word, they may be won,
2rehefa hitany ny fahadiovan'ny fitondran-tenanareo amin'ny fahatahorana.
2having beheld your pure behaviour in fear,
3Ary aoka ny firavahanareo tsy ho zavatra eny ivelany, toy ny firandranam-bolo sy ny firava-bolamena na ny fiakanjoana;
3whose adorning — let it not be that which is outward, of plaiting of hair, and of putting around of things of gold, or of putting on of garments,
4fa aoka ho toetra miafina ao am-po, izay tsy mety ho lò, dia ny fanahy malemy sady miadana, izay soa indrindra eo imason'Andriamanitra.
4but — the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible thing of the meek and quiet spirit, which is, before God, of great price,
5Fa tahaka izany no niravahan'ny vehivavy masina fahiny, izay nanantena an'Andriamanitra sady nanaiky ny vadiny;
5for thus once also the holy women who did hope on God, were adorning themselves, being subject to their own husbands,
6dia tahaka an'i Saraha, izay nanaiky an'i Abrahama ka nanao azy hoe "tompoko"; dia zanany ianareo, raha mba manao soa ka tsy matahotra izay fampitahorana na inona na inona.
6as Sarah was obedient to Abraham, calling him `sir,` of whom ye did become daughters, doing good, and not fearing any terror.
7Ary toy izany koa, ianareo lehilahy, miaraha mitoetra aminy araka ny marina, manaja ny vavy, tahaka ny mety hatao amin'ny fanaka malemilemy kokoa sady mpiara-mandova ny fahasoavan'ny fiainana,- mba tsy ho voasakana ny fivavahanareo.
7The husbands, in like manner, dwelling with [them], according to knowledge, as to a weaker vessel — to the wife — imparting honour, as also being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers be not hindered.
8[Famporisihana mba hitondra tena marina sy hiaritra tahaka ny niaretan'i Kristy] Farany, miraisa saina ianareo rehetra. ka miaraha ory, mifankatiava tahaka ny mpirahalahy, mifamindrà fo, manetre tena,
8And finally, being all of one mind, having fellow-feeling, loving as brethren, compassionate, courteous,
9tsy mamaly ratsy ny ratsy, na fanaratsiana ny fanaratsiana; fa aoka hisaotra kosa, satria ho amin'izany no niantsoana anareo mba handova fitahiana.
9not giving back evil for evil, or railing for railing, and on the contrary, blessing, having known that to this ye were called, that a blessing ye may inherit;
10"Fa na iza na iza maniry fiainana sy ta-hahita andro soa, Aoka izy hiaro ny lelany amin'ny ratsy Ary ny molony mba tsy hiteny fitaka;
10for `he who is willing to love life, and to see good days, let him guard his tongue from evil, and his lips — not to speak guile;
11Ary aoka izy hiala amin'ny ratsy ka hanao soa; Aoka izy hitady fihavanana sy hanaraka azy.
11let him turn aside from evil, and do good, let him seek peace and pursue it;
12Fa ny mason'ny Tompo dia mitsinjo ny marina, Ary ny sofiny mihaino ny fitarainany, Fa ny tavan'ny Tompo dia tezitra amin'ny mpanao ratsy" (Sal. 34.12-16).
12because the eyes of the Lord [are] upon the righteous, and His ears — to their supplication, and the face of the Lord [is] upon those doing evil;`
13Ary iza no hanisy ratsy anareo, raha mazoto amin'izay tsara ianareo?
13and who [is] he who will be doing you evil, if of Him who is good ye may become imitators?
14Fa raha tàhiny mitondra fahoriana noho ny fahamarinana ianareo, dia sambatra; ary aza matahotra tahaka azy, ary aza mangorohoro ianareo;
14but if ye also should suffer because of righteousness, happy [are ye]! and of their fear be not afraid, nor be troubled,
15fa manamasìna an i'Kristy ho Tompo ao am-ponareo (Isa. 8.12, 13); ary aoka ho vonona mandrakariva ianareo hamaly izay manontany anareo ny amin'ny anton'ny fanantenana ao anatinareo, nefa amin'ny fahalemem-panahy sy ny fanajana,
15and the Lord God sanctify in your hearts. And [be] ready always for defence to every one who is asking of you an account concerning the hope that [is] in you, with meekness and fear;
16ka manàna fieritreretana tsara, mba ho menatra izay manaratsy ny fitondran-tenanareo tsara ao amin'i Kristy, dia izay anendrikendrehana anareo.
16having a good conscience, that in that in which they speak against you as evil-doers, they may be ashamed who are traducing your good behaviour in Christ;
17Fa raha sitrapon'Andriamanitra, dia tsaratsara kokoa ny hitondra fahoriana amin'ny fanaovan-tsoa noho ny amin'ny fanaovan-dratsy.
17for [it is] better doing good, if the will of God will it, to suffer, than doing evil;
18Fa Kristy koa aza efa nijaly indray mandeha noho ny ota, ny Marina hamonjy ny tsy marina, mba hitondra antsika ho amin'Andriamanitra, ka novonoina tamin'ny nofo, fa novelomina tamin'ny fanahy,
18because also Christ once for sin did suffer — righteous for unrighteous — that he might lead us to God, having been put to death indeed, in the flesh, and having been made alive in the spirit,
19izay nandehanany sy nitoriany teny tamin'ireo fanahy tao an-tranomaizina,
19in which also to the spirits in prison having gone he did preach,
20dia izay tsy nanaiky fahiny, fony niandry ny fahari-pon'Andriamanitra tamin'ny andron'i Noa, raha mbola namboarina ny sambo-fiara, izay nidiran'ny olona vitsy, dia izy valo mianaka, ka dia namonjena azy ny rano,
20who sometime disbelieved, when once the long-suffering of God did wait, in days of Noah — an ark being preparing — in which few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water;
21izay mamonjy anareo koa ankehitriny, dia ny batisa, izay tenan'io tandindona io,- tsy ny fanesorana ny fahalotoan'ny nofo anefa, fa ny fitadiavana ny fieritreretana tsara eo anatrehan'Andriamanitra, amin'ny nitsanganan'i Jesosy Kristy tamin'ny maty. [ Na: fanontanian'] [ Na: amin'] [ Na: ny fitadiavan'ny fieritreretana tsara an'Andriamanitra]Izay eo amin'ny tanana ankavanan'Andriamanitra; fa efa lasa ho any an-danitra Izy ka efa nampanekena Azy ny anjely sy ny fahefana ary ny hery.
21also to which an antitype doth now save us — baptism, (not a putting away of the filth of flesh, but the question of a good conscience in regard to God,) through the rising again of Jesus Christ,
22Izay eo amin'ny tanana ankavanan'Andriamanitra; fa efa lasa ho any an-danitra Izy ka efa nampanekena Azy ny anjely sy ny fahefana ary ny hery.
22who is at the right hand of God, having gone on to heaven — messengers, and authorities, and powers, having been subjected to him.
