¹And Eliphaz the Temanite answereth and saith: —

²Raha misy sahy miteny aminao, dia ho sosotra va ianao? Fa raha ny mamehy vava kosa, iza moa no mahazaka izany?

²Hath one tried a word with thee? — Thou art weary! And to keep in words who is able?

³Indro, efa nananatra ny maro ianao. Ary ny tanana miraviravy efa nampaherezinao;

³Lo, thou hast instructed many, And feeble hands thou makest strong.

⁴Ny teninao efa nanohana izay efa saiky lavo, ary ny lohalika malemy efa nampahatanjahinao

⁴The stumbling one do thy words raise up, And bowing knees thou dost strengthen.

⁵Nefa ankehitriny mba manjo anao kosa izany, ka dia kivy ianao, Mihatra aminao izany, ka raiki-tahotra ianao

⁵But now, it cometh in unto thee, And thou art weary; It striketh unto thee, and thou art troubled.

⁶Tsy ny fivavahanao va no tokinao? Ary tsy fanantenanao va ny fahitsian'ny lalanao? [Heb. fahatahoranao]

⁶Is not thy reverence thy confidence? Thy hope — the perfection of thy ways?

⁷Masìna ianao, tsarovy fa iza moa no very tsy nanan-tsiny? Ary taiza no nisy olo-mahitsy naringana?

⁷Remember, I pray thee, Who, being innocent, hath perished? And where have the upright been cut off?

⁸Araka izay efa hitako, dia izay miasa heloka sy mamafy fahoriana no mijinja izany.

⁸As I have seen — ploughers of iniquity, And sowers of misery, reap it!

⁹Ny fofonain'Andriamanitra no andringanana azy. Eny, ny fofonain'ny fahatezerany no mahalevona azy.

⁹From the breath of God they perish, And from the spirit of His anger consumed.

¹⁰Ny feon'ny olona, eny, ny feon'ny liona masiaka, ary ny nifin'ny liona tanora dia ombotana;

¹⁰The roaring of a lion, And the voice of a fierce lion, And teeth of young lions have been broken.

¹¹Mirenireny ny lion-dahy noho ny tsi-fahitany remby, ary miely ny zanaky ny liom-bavy.

¹¹An old lion is perishing without prey, And the whelps of the lioness do separate.

¹²Nisy teny tonga tamiko mangingina, ary ny sofiko nahare siosio avy taminy,

¹²And unto me a thing is secretly brought, And receive doth mine ear a little of it.

¹³Tamin'ny eritreritra avy amin'ny tsindrimandry alina, raha sondrian-tory ny olona,

¹³In thoughts from visions of the night, In the falling of deep sleep on men,

¹⁴Dia azon-tahotra sy hovotra aho, ka nampihorohoro ny taolako rehetra izany.

¹⁴Fear hath met me, and trembling, And the multitude of my bones caused to fear.

¹⁵Ary nisy fanahy nandalo teo anatrehako ka nampitsangam-bolo ny tenako.

¹⁵And a spirit before my face doth pass, Stand up doth the hair of my flesh;

¹⁶Nijanona izy, nefa tsy nahafantatra ny tarehiny aho; Nisy endri-javatra teo anoloan'ny masoko; Nisy fanginana, dia nandre feo aho nanao hoe:

¹⁶It standeth, and I discern not its aspect, A similitude [is] over-against mine eyes, Silence! and a voice I hear:

¹⁷Ho marina noho Andriamanitra va ny zanak'olombelona? Ho madio noho ny Mpanao azy va ny olona?[Na: eo anatrehan']

¹⁷`Is mortal man than God more righteous? Than his Maker is a man cleaner?

¹⁸Indro, tsy matoky ireo mpanompony aza Izy, eny, ny anjeliny aza ataony ho tsy tonga ohatra.

¹⁸Lo, in His servants He putteth no credence, Nor in His messengers setteth praise.`

¹⁹Koa mainka izay mitoetra ao an-trano tany, sady avy tamin'ny vovoka no nihaviany, ary mora poritra noho ny kalalao izy;[Heb. ao amin'ny vovoka fiorenany]

¹⁹Also — the inhabitants of houses of clay, (Whose foundation [is] in the dust, They bruise them before a moth.)

²⁰Indray andro monja dia montsana izy; Tsy misy misaina azy, na dia levona mandrakizay aza izy.Tsy voaongotra va ny kofehin-dainy ao aminy? Maty izy, nefa tsy mbola nanam-pahendrena.

²⁰From morning to evening are beaten down, Without any regarding, for ever they perish.

²¹Tsy voaongotra va ny kofehin-dainy ao aminy? Maty izy, nefa tsy mbola nanam-pahendrena.

²¹Hath not their excellency been removed with them? They die, and not in wisdom!
