¹आपला तारणारा देव आणि आपली आशा ख्रिस्त येशू यांच्या आज्ञेने ख्रिस्त येशूचा प्रेषित पौल याजकडून

¹Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to a command of God our Saviour, and of the Lord Jesus Christ our hope,

²विश्वासातील माझा खरा पुत्र तीमथ्य याला: देव जो पिता आणि आपला ख्रिस्त येशू, आमचा प्रभु याच्याकडून तुला कृपा, दया आणि शांति लाभो.

²to Timotheus — genuine child in faith: Grace, kindness, peace, from God our Father, and Christ Jesus our Lord,

³मी मासेदोनियाला जात असता तुला कळकळीने विनंति केल्याप्रमाणे तू इफिस येथे राहावेस असे माझे म्हणणे आहे. यासाठी की, काही ठराविक लोकांना खोटे शिक्षण देऊ नका अशी तुला त्यांना आज्ञा करता यावी. किंवा

³according as I did exhort thee to remain in Ephesus — I going on to Macedonia — that thou mightest charge certain not to teach any other thing,

⁴कथा-कहाण्यांच्या आहारी जाऊ नका आणि न संपणाऱ्या वंशावळ्या याकडे लक्ष देऊ नका असे तू त्यांना सांगावेस. कारण त्यामुळे भांडण वाढते आणि विश्वासाने देवाची योजना जी पूर्ण होते ती या गोष्टीमुळे पूर्ण होत नाही.

⁴nor to give heed to fables and endless genealogies, that cause questions rather than the building up of God that is in faith: —

⁵आणि या आज्ञेचे उद्दिष्ट प्रीति आहे, जी शुद्ध अंत:करणातून, चांगल्या सदसदविवेकबुद्धीतून व प्रामाणिक विश्वासातून उगम पावते.

⁵And the end of the charge is love out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned,

⁶काहींनी पतनामुळे या गोष्टीकडून आपले लक्ष दुसरीकडे लावले आहे व ते व्यर्य बडबडीकडे वळले आहेत.

⁶from which certain, having swerved, did turn aside to vain discourse,

⁷त्यांना नियमशास्त्राचे शिक्षक व्हायचे होते, पण ते ज्या गोष्टीविषयी मोठ्या आत्मविश्वासाने बोलतात व सांगतात त्या त्यांनाच कळत नाहीत.

⁷willing to be teachers of law, not understanding either the things they say, nor concerning what they asseverate,

⁸आता आम्हाला हे माहीत आहे की, नियमशास्त्र खरोखरच चांगले आहे. जर कोणी त्याचा चांगला वापर करतो.

⁸and we have known that the law [is] good, if any one may use it lawfully;

⁹म्हणजे हे जाणून घेऊन की, नियमशास्त्र हे नीतिमान लोकांसाठी केलेले नाही तर नियमशास्त्राचा भंग करणाऱ्या आणि बंडखोर लोकांसाठी, तिरस्तकरणीय लोकांसाठी, पापयांसाठी, भक्तिहीन आणि अधर्मी लोकांसाठी, वडिलांना ठार मारणाऱ्या, आईला ठार मारणाऱ्यासाठी,

⁹having known this, that for a righteous man law is not set, but for lawless and insubordinate persons, ungodly and sinners, impious and profane, parricides and matricides, men-slayers,

¹⁰खुनी लोकांसाठी, जारकर्मी, समलिंगसंभोगी, इतर मनुष्यांना फसविणारे, खोटारडे, खोटी शपथ घेणारे यांच्यासाठी आहे. इतर जे दुसरे सगळे करतात ते चांगल्या शिक्षणाविरुद्ध आहेत,

¹⁰whoremongers, sodomites, men-stealers, liars, perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that to sound doctrine is adverse,

¹¹गौरवी सुवार्ता जी धन्यवादित देवाकडून येते आणि जी माझ्यावर सोपविली आहे, तिला हे अनुसरून आहे.

¹¹according to the good news of the glory of the blessed God, with which I was entrusted.

¹²जो मला सामर्थ्य देतो त्या ख्रिस्त येशू आपल्या प्रभुचे मी उपकार मानतो कारण त्याने मला विश्वासू समजले आणि त्याने मला त्याची सेवा करण्यासाठी नियुक्त केले.

¹²And I give thanks to him who enabled me — Christ Jesus our Lord — that he did reckon me stedfast, having put [me] to the ministration,

¹³जरी मी पूर्वी निंदा करणारा, मनस्ताप देणारा आणि हिंसक होतो, तरी माझ्यावर दया दाखविण्यात आली. तोर्पांत मी विश्वासणारा नव्हतो म्हणून अज्ञानामुळे मी तसा वागलो.

¹³who before was speaking evil, and persecuting, and insulting, but I found kindness, because, being ignorant, I did [it] in unbelief,

¹⁴परंतु विश्वास आणि दया जी ख्रिस्त येशूमध्ये सापडते ती आपल्या प्रभुच्या कृपेने ओसंडून वाहिली.

¹⁴and exceedingly abound did the grace of our Lord, with faith and love that [is] in Christ Jesus:

¹⁵एक विश्वासनीय वचन आहे जे स्वीकारावयास पूर्णपणे योग्य आहे. येशू ख्रिस्त पाप्यांना तारावयास या जगात आला. मी त्या पाप्यातील पहिला आहे.

¹⁵stedfast [is] the word, and of all acceptation worthy, that Christ Jesus came to the world to save sinners — first of whom I am;

¹⁶परंतु केवळ याच हेतूने माझ्यावर दया दाखविण्यात आली, यासाठी की माझ्यासारख्या अत्यंत वाईट पाप्याच्या उदाहरणावरून, पुढील काळात जे त्याजवर विश्वास ठेवतील त्यांना अनंतकाळचे जीवन मिळावे.

¹⁶but because of this I found kindness, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all long-suffering, for a pattern of those about to believe on him to life age-during:

¹⁷आता अनंतकाळचा राजा जो अविनाशी व अदृश्य आहे अशा एकाच देवाला माहिमा आणि गौरव अनंतकाळसाठी असो. आमेन.

¹⁷and to the King of the ages, the incorruptible, invisible, only wise God, [is] honour and glory — to the ages of the ages! Amen.

¹⁸तिमथ्या, माझ्या मुला, मी तुला तुझ्याविषयी पूर्वीच सांगण्यात आलेल्या संदेशानुसार ही आज्ञा सोपवीत आहे. यासाठी की सुयुद्ध करण्यात तिचा उपयोग करता यावा.

¹⁸This charge I commit to thee, child Timotheus, according to the prophesies that went before upon thee, that thou mayest war in them the good warfare,

¹⁹तुम्हांला विश्वास आणि चांगला विवेक असावा. कित्येकांनी चांगला विवेक नाकारुन विश्वास तारवाप्रमाणे उद्ध्वस्त केला आहे.

¹⁹having faith and a good conscience, which certain having thrust away, concerning the faith did make shipwreck,

²⁰त्यात हूमनाय आणि आलेक्सांद्र आहेत त्यांना मी सैतानाच्या स्वाधीन केले आहे यासाठी की, देवाविरुद्ध न बोलण्याविषयी त्यांनी शिकावे.

²⁰of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I did deliver to the Adversary, that they might be instructed not to speak evil.
