1शांतपणे दिलेल्या उत्तरामुळे राग निघून जातो. पण तिखट उत्तरामुळे राग वाढतो.
1A soft answer turneth back fury, And a grievous word raiseth up anger.
2शहाणा माणूस बोलतो तेव्हा इतरांना ऐकावेसे वाटते. पण मूर्ख माणूस केवळ मूर्खताच बडबडतो.
2The tongue of the wise maketh knowledge good, And the mouth of fools uttereth folly.
3सगळीकडे काय चालले आहे ते परमेश्वर बघतो. परमेश्वर सगळ्या माणसांना बघत असतो. चांगल्या आणि वाईट.
3In every place are the eyes of Jehovah, Watching the evil and the good.
4दयेचे मायेचे शब्द म्हणजे जणू जीवनवृक्ष. पण खोट्या शब्दांमुळे माणसाची उमेद खचते.
4A healed tongue [is] a tree of life, And perverseness in it — a breach in the spirit.
5मूर्ख माणूस त्याच्या वडिलांच्या उपदेशाकडे लक्ष देत नाही. पण जेव्हा लोक शहाण्या माणसाला शिकवण्याचा प्रयत्न करतात तेव्हा तो लक्षपूर्वक ऐकतो.
5A fool despiseth the instruction of his father, And whoso is regarding reproof is prudent.
6चांगले लोक पुष्कळ बाबतीत श्रीमंत असतात. पण दुष्टाकडे ज्या गोष्टी असतात त्यामुळे त्याच्यावर संकटे येतात.
6[In] the house of the righteous [is] abundant strength, And in the increase of the wicked — trouble.
7शहाणे लोक बोलतात तेव्हा नवीन माहिती मिळते. पण मूर्ख लोक ऐकण्यासारखे काही बोलत नाहीत.
7The lips of the wise scatter knowledge, And the heart of fools [is] not right.
8दुष्ट माणसे ज्या गोष्टी अर्पण करतात त्या परमेश्वराला आवडत नाहीत. पण परमेश्वर चांगल्या माणसाची प्रार्थना ऐकून आनंदी होतो.
8The sacrifice of the wicked [is] an abomination to Jehovah, And the prayer of the upright [is] His delight.
9दुष्ट लोक ज्या प्रकारे जगतात ते परमेश्वराला आवडत नाही. जे लोक सत्कृत्य करायचा प्रयत्न करतात त्यांच्यावर परमेश्वर प्रेम करतो.
9An abomination to Jehovah [is] the way of the wicked, And whoso is pursuing righteousness He loveth.
10जर एखाद्या माणसाने चुकीने जगायला सुरुवात केली तर त्याला शिक्षा होईल. आणि ज्या माणसाला योग्य अयोग्य सांगितलेले आवडत नाही त्याचा नाश होईल.
10Chastisement [is] grievous to him who is forsaking the path, Whoso is hating reproof dieth.
11परमेश्वराला सर्व माहीत असते. मृत्युलोकांत काय घडते ते देखील त्याला माहीत असते. म्हणून लोकांच्या मनात आणि हृदयात काय चालले आहे ते परमेश्वराला नक्कीच ठाऊक असेल.
11Sheol and destruction [are] before Jehovah, Surely also the hearts of the sons of men.
12मूर्खाला तो चुकत आहे हे सांगितलेले आवडत नाही. आणि तो माणूस शहाण्या माणसाला माहिती विचारायला नकार देतो.
12A scorner loveth not his reprover, Unto the wise he goeth not.
13माणूस जर आनंदी असला तर त्याच्या चेहऱ्यावर आनंद दिसेल. पण जर एखादा मनातून दु:खी असला तर त्याचा आत्मा ते दु:ख दाखवेल.
13A joyful heart maketh glad the face, And by grief of heart is the spirit smitten.
14शहाणा माणूस अधिक ज्ञान मिळवायता प्रयत्न करतो. पण मूर्खाला अधिक मूर्खताच हवी असते.
14The heart of the intelligent seeketh knowledge, And the mouth of fools enjoyeth folly.
15काही गरीब लोक नेहमी खिन्न असतात. पण मनातून आनंदी असलेल्या लोकांसाठी जीवन म्हणजे एक मोठा समारंभ असतो.
15All the days of the afflicted [are] evil, And gladness of heart [is] a perpetual banquet.
16गरीब राहून परमेश्वराचा आदर करणे हे श्रीमंत होऊन खूप संकटे भोगण्यापेक्षा चांगले असते.
16Better [is] a little with the fear of Jehovah, Than much treasure, and tumult with it.
17प्रेम असते त्या ठिकाणी थोडेसे खाणे हे तिरस्कार असलेल्या ठिकाणी भरपूर खाण्यापेक्षा चांगले असते.
17Better [is] an allowance of green herbs and love there, Than a fatted ox, and hatred with it.
18लवकर रागावणारे लोक संकटे आणतात. पण संयमी माणूस शांतता आणतो.
18A man of fury stirreth up contention, And the slow to anger appeaseth strife.
19आळशी माणसाला सगळीकडे संकटे मिळतील पण इमानदार माणसासाठी आयुष्य सोपे असेल.
19The way of the slothful [is] as a hedge of briers, And the path of the upright is raised up.
20शहाणा मुलगा त्याच्या वडिलांना सुखी करतो. पण मूर्ख माणूस त्याच्या आईला लाज आणतो.
20A wise son rejoiceth a father. And a foolish man is despising his mother.
21मूर्ख गोष्टी करण्यात मूर्खाला आनंद मिळतो. पण चांगला माणूस योग्य गोष्टी काळजीपूर्वक करतो.
21Folly is joy to one lacking heart, And a man of intelligence directeth [his] going.
22जर एखाद्याला पुरेशी माहिती मिळाली नाही तर त्याच्या योजना कोसळतील. पण जर एखाद्याने शहाण्या लोकांच्या बोलण्याकडे लक्ष दिले तर तो यशस्वी होईल.
22Without counsel [is] the making void of purposes, And in a multitude of counsellors it is established.
23चांगले उत्तर दिल्यावर माणूस आनंदी होतो. आणि योग्य वेळी योग्य शब्द फारच चांगला असतो.
23Joy [is] to a man in the answer of his mouth, And a word in its season — how good!
24शहाण्या माणसाने केलेली गोष्ट यशाकडे नेते आणि त्या गोष्टी त्याला मृत्यूकडे जाण्यापासून वाचवतात.
24A path of life [is] on high for the wise, To turn aside from Sheol beneath.
25गर्विष्ठ माणसाकडे असलेल्या सगळ्या गोष्टींचा परमेश्वर नाश करील. पण विधवेकडे असलेल्या गोष्टीचे परमेश्वर रक्षण करतो.
25The house of the proud Jehovah pulleth down, And He setteth up the border of the widow.
26परमेश्वराला दुष्ट विचार आवडत नाहीत. पण परमेश्वर मायेच्या शब्दांनी आनंदी होतो.
26An abomination to Jehovah [are] thoughts of wickedness, And pure [are] sayings of pleasantness.
27जर एखद्याने काही वस्तू मिळवण्यासाठी फसवणूक केली तर तो त्याच्या कुटुंबावर संकटे आणतो. पण जर एखादा माणूस खरा असला आणि लाच घेण्याविषयी त्याच्या मनात घृणा असेल तर तो जगू शकेल.
27A dishonest gainer is troubling his house, And whoso is hating gifts liveth.
28चांगले लोक उत्तर देण्याआधी विचार करतात. पण दुष्ट लोक विचार करण्याआधी बोलतात आणि त्यामुळे त्यांच्यावर संकटे येतात.
28The heart of the righteous meditateth to answer, And the mouth of the wicked uttereth evil things.
29परमेश्वर दुष्टांपासून खूप दूर आहे. पण तो चांगल्या माणसांच्या प्रार्थना नेहमी ऐकतो.
29Far [is] Jehovah from the wicked, And the prayer of the righteous He heareth.
30जो माणूस हसतो तो इतरांना आनंद देतो आणि चांगली बातमी ऐकून लोकांना अधिक चांगले वाटते.
30The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart, A good report maketh fat the bone.
31जो माणूस त्याचे चुकते आहे असे सांगितल्यावर ऐकतो तो शहाणा असतो.
31An ear that is hearing the reproof of life Doth lodge among the wise.
32जर एखाद्याने शिकायला नकार दिला तर तो स्वत:लाच इजा करुन घेतो. तू चुकतो आहेस असे सांगितलेले जो ऐकून घेतो तो अधिकाधिक गोष्टी समजू शकतो.
32Whoso is refusing instruction is despising his soul, And whoso is hearing reproof Is getting understanding.
33जो माणूस परमेश्वराचा आदर करतो तो शहाणे व्हायला शिकतो. परमेश्वराचा आदर करण्यासाठी माणसाने खरोखरच विनम्र व्हायला हवे.
33The fear of Jehovah [is] the instruction of wisdom, And before honour [is] humility!
