1एकजना मानिस जसले अनुशासनलाई प्रेम गर्छ उसले त ज्ञानलाई त्यसै माया गर्छ, तर जसले सुधारलाई घृणा गर्छ, त्यो त पटमूर्ख हो।
1Whoso is loving instruction, is loving knowledge, And whoso is hating reproof [is] brutish.
2असल मानिसले परमप्रभुबाट अनुग्रह पाउँछ, तर एउटा धूर्त मानिसले दण्ड मात्र पाउँछ।
2The good bringeth forth favour from Jehovah, And the man of wicked devices He condemneth.
3दुष्टता द्वारा कसैलाई पनि सुरक्षित बनाउँनु सकिंदैन, तर धर्मी मानिसहरूको जरा उखाल्नु सकिंदैन।
3A man is not established by wickedness, And the root of the righteous is not moved.
4एक योग्य पत्नी आफ्नो पतिको निम्ति शिरको मुकुट हो, तर पति माथि अपमान ल्याउने गृहिणी लोग्नेको शरीरमा मककाउँदै गरेका हड्डीहरू जस्तै हो।
4A virtuous woman [is] a crown to her husband, And as rottenness in his bones [is] one causing shame.
5धर्मी मानिसहरूको योजनाहरू न्याय संगत हुन्छन्, तर दुष्टहरूको सल्लाह छलपूर्ण हुन्छन्।
5The thoughts of the righteous [are] justice, The counsels of the wicked — deceit.
6दुष्टहरूको शब्दहरू उपगोपनबाट आक्रमण भए झैं आउँछन्, तर ईमानदारीहरूको वचनले तिनीहरूलाई बचाउँछ।
6The words of the wicked [are]: `Lay wait for blood,` And the mouth of the upright delivereth them.
7दुष्ट मानिसहरूलाई नष्ट गरिन्छ अनि अस्तित्व रहित हुन्छ, तर धर्मी मानिसहरूको घर दृढतासाथ खडा रहन्छ।
7Overthrow the wicked, and they are not, And the house of the righteous standeth.
8मानिस आफ्नो भलो बुद्धिले प्रशंसा कमाउँछ, तर त्यस्तो मानिस जसको मन सदा कुबाटो तिर रहन्छ त्यो घृणित हुन्छ।
8According to his wisdom is a man praised, And the perverted of heart becometh despised.
9प्रतिष्ठित व्याक्ति हुँ भनी बहना गर्नु तर प्रचुर मात्रमा खाना नहुनु भन्दा एउटा साधरण व्याक्ति भएर आफैंलाई आफ्नो सेवक बनाउँनु असल हो।
9Better [is] the lightly esteemed who hath a servant, Than the self-honoured who lacketh bread.
10एकजना धर्मी मानिसले उसको पशुहरूको आवश्यकता ख्याल गर्छ, तर दुष्ट मानिसको असल काम निष्ठुर हुन्छ।
10The righteous knoweth the life of his beast, And the mercies of the wicked [are] cruel.
11आफ्नो खेतमा काम गर्ने कृषक सित प्रशस्त खाने चीज हुन्छ, तर बेकारमा समय नष्ट गर्ने मानिसको बुद्धि हुदैन।
11Whoso is tilling the ground is satisfied [with] bread, And whoso is pursuing vanities is lacking heart,
12दुष्ट मानिस सधैं दुष्टयाई कर्म गर्न मात्र खोज्छ, तर धर्मी मानिससित गहिरो शक्ति हुन्छ।
12The wicked hath desired the net of evil doers, And the root of the righteous giveth.
13दुष्ट मानिस आफ्नै खराब शब्दहरू चंगुलमा फस्छ। तर धर्मी मानिस त्यस्तो अप्ठेरोमा पर्दैन।
13In transgression of the lips [is] the snare of the wicked, And the righteous goeth out from distress.
14मानिसको व्याख्याले धेरै असल चीजहरू प्रदान गर्छ अनि त्यसरी नै उसले गरेको कामले उसलाई लाभ दिन्छ।
14From the fruit of the mouth [is] one satisfied [with] good, And the deed of man`s hands returneth to him.
15एक मूर्खले उसले जे गर्छ त्यसैलाई ठीक सोच्छ तर एक ज्ञानीले अरूबाट उपदेश लिन्छ।
15The way of a fool [is] right in his own eyes, And whoso is hearkening to counsel [is] wise.
16एकजना मूर्ख मानिस छिटो रिसाउँछ, तर एक समझदार मानिस उसको अपमान सहन्छ।
16The fool — in a day is his anger known, And the prudent is covering shame.
17एक सत्यवादी गावाहीले सत्य बयान दिन्छ तर एउटा झूटो साक्षीद्वारा दिएको बयान, झूटो हुन्छ।
17Whoso uttereth faithfulness declareth righteousness, And a false witness — deceit.
18विचार नगरी बोलेको बचनले तरवारले झैं घोच्छ, तर ज्ञानी मानिसले सोचेर बोल्छ र उसले भनेको शब्दले मलमको काम गर्छ।
18A rash speaker is like piercings of a sword, And the tongue of the wise is healing.
19जो सत्य बोल्छ सदा स्थीर रहन्छ, तर जो झूटो बोल्छ केही क्षणको निम्ति मात्र रहन्छ।
19The lip of truth is established for ever, And for a moment — a tongue of falsehood.
20ती जसले दुष्ट योजना बनाउँछन् मनमा छलकपट लुकाउछन् तर ती जो शान्ति मार्गको उपदेश दिन्छन् सुखी हन्छन।
20Deceit [is] in the heart of those devising evil, And to those counselling peace [is] joy.
21एकजना धर्मी व्याक्तिलाई हानी हुने छैन, दुष्टले धेरै दु;ख पाउँछ।
21No iniquity is desired by the righteous, And the wicked have been full of evil.
22परमप्रभुले झूटो ओंठलाई घृणा गर्नुुहुन्छ, तर सत्यवादी मानिस सित खुशी हुनुहुन्छ।
22An abomination to Jehovah [are] lying lips, And stedfast doers [are] his delight.
23एकजना समझदार तथा ज्ञानी मानिसले आफ्नो ज्ञान आफूसित राख्छ, तर मूर्खले भने आफ्नो मूर्खता पूर्ण कुराहरू लगत्तै बोली हाल्छ।
23A prudent man is concealing knowledge, And the heart of fools proclaimeth folly.
24मेहनती मानिस निरीक्षक बनाइन्छ, तर अल्छे मानिस सधैं कमारो हुनेछ।
24The hand of the diligent ruleth, And slothfulness becometh tributary.
25चिन्ताले मानिसको सुखलाई लुटछ, तर खुशीको खबरले उसलाई माथि उठाउँछ।
25Sorrow in the heart of a man boweth down, And a good word maketh him glad.
26धर्मी मानिसहरू सही काम गर्नुको निम्ति, एक साथ मिलेर काम गर्छन् ता दुष्ट मानिसहरूले बरालिने बाटो लिन्छन्।
26The righteous searcheth his companion, And the way of the wicked causeth them to err.
27एकजना अल्छी मानिसले उसको शिकार भुट्दैन, तर परिश्रमी मानिसले धेरै सम्पत्ति प्रप्त गर्नेछ।
27The slothful roasteth not his hunting, And the wealth of a diligent man is precious.
28धार्मीकताको मार्गले जीवनमा डोर्याउँछ। तर अधर्मीको मार्गले मृत्युमा डोर्याउँछ।
28In the path of righteousness [is] life, And in the way of [that] path [is] no death!
