¹Cît despre mine, fraţilor, cînd am venit la voi, n'am venit să vă vestesc taina lui Dumnezeu cu o vorbire sau înţelepciune strălucită.

¹When I came to you, brothers, I didn’t come with excellence of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God.

²Căci n'am avut de gînd să ştiu între voi altceva decît pe Isus Hristos şi pe El răstignit.

²For I determined not to know anything among you, except Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

³Eu însumi, cînd am venit în mijlocul vostru, am fost slab, fricos şi plin de cutremur.

³I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling.

⁴Şi învăţătura şi propovăduirea mea nu stăteau în vorbirile înduplecătoare ale înţelepciunii, ci într'o dovadă dată de Duhul şi de putere,

⁴My speech and my preaching were not in persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,

⁵pentruca credinţa voastră să fie întemeiată nu pe înţelepciunea oamenilor, ci pe puterea lui Dumnezeu.

⁵that your faith wouldn’t stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

⁶Totuş ceeace propovăduim noi printre cei desăvîrşiţi, este o înţelepciune; dar nu a veacului acestuia, nici a fruntaşilor veacului acestuia, cari vor fi nimiciţi.

⁶We speak wisdom, however, among those who are full grown; yet a wisdom not of this world, nor of the rulers of this world, who are coming to nothing.

⁷Noi propovăduim înţelepciunea lui Dumnezeu, cea tainică şi ţinută ascunsă, pe care o rînduise Dumnezeu, spre slava noastră, mai înainte de veci,

⁷But we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the wisdom that has been hidden, which God foreordained before the worlds for our glory,

⁸şi pe care n'a cunoscut -o niciunul din fruntaşii veacului acestuia; căci, dacă ar fi cunoscut -o, n-ar fi răstignit pe Domnul slavei.

⁸which none of the rulers of this world has known. For had they known it, they wouldn’t have crucified the Lord of glory.

⁹Dar, după cum este scris: ,,Lucruri, pe cari ochiul nu le -a văzut, urechea nu le -a auzit, şi la inima omului nu s'au suit, aşa sînt lucrurile, pe cari le -a pregătit Dumnezeu pentru cei ce -L iubesc.``

⁹But as it is written, “Things which an eye didn’t see, and an ear didn’t hear, which didn’t enter into the heart of man, these God has prepared for those who love him.” Isaiah 64:4

¹⁰Nouă însă Dumnezeu ni le -a descoperit prin Duhul Său. Căci Duhul cercetează totul, chiar şi lucrurile adînci ale lui Dumnezeu.

¹⁰But to us, God revealed them through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

¹¹În adevăr, cine dintre oameni cunoaşte lucrurile omului, afară de duhul omului, care este în el? Tot aşa: nimeni nu cunoaşte lucrurile lui Dumnezeu afară de Duhul lui Dumnezeu.

¹¹For who among men knows the things of a man, except the spirit of the man, which is in him? Even so, no one knows the things of God, except God’s Spirit.

¹²Şi noi n'am primit duhul lumii, ci Duhul care vine dela Dumnezeu, ca să putem cunoaşte lucrurile, pe cari ni le -a dat Dumnezeu prin harul Său.

¹²But we received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is from God, that we might know the things that were freely given to us by God.

¹³Şi vorbim despre ele nu cu vorbiri învăţate dela înţelepciunea omenească, ci cu vorbiri învăţate dela Duhul Sfînt, întrebuinţînd o vorbire duhovnicească pentru lucrurile duhovniceşti.

¹³Which things also we speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual things.

¹⁴Dar omul firesc nu primeşte lucrurile Duhului lui Dumnezeu, căci, pentru el, sînt o nebunie; şi nici nu le poate înţelege, pentrucă trebuiesc judecate duhovniceşte.

¹⁴Now the natural man doesn’t receive the things of God’s Spirit, for they are foolishness to him, and he can’t know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

¹⁵Omul duhovnicesc, dimpotrivă, poate să judece totul, şi el însuş nu poate fi judecat de nimeni.

¹⁵But he who is spiritual discerns all things, and he himself is judged by no one.

¹⁶Căci ,,cine a cunoscut gîndul Domnului, ca să -I poată da învăţătură?`` Noi însă avem gîndul lui Hristos.

¹⁶“For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he should instruct him?” Isaiah 40:13 But we have Christ’s mind.
