¹Vă sfătuiesc dar eu, cel întemniţat pentru Domnul, să vă purtaţi într'un chip vrednic de chemarea, pe care aţi primit -o,

¹I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to walk worthily of the calling with which you were called,

²cu toată smerenia şi blîndeţa, cu îndelungă răbdare; îngăduiţi-vă unii pe alţii în dragoste,

²with all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love;

³şi căutaţi să păstraţi unirea Duhului, prin legătura păcii.

³being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

⁴Este un singur trup, un singur Duh, după cum şi voi aţi fost chemaţi la o singură nădejde a chemării voastre.

⁴There is one body, and one Spirit, even as you also were called in one hope of your calling;

⁵Este un singur Domn, o singură credinţă, un singur botez.

⁵one Lord, one faith, one baptism,

⁶Este un singur Dumnezeu şi Tată al tuturor, care este mai pe sus de toţi, care lucrează prin toţi şi care este în toţi.

⁶one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in us all.

⁷Dar fiecăruia din noi harul i -a fost dat după măsura darului lui Hristos.

⁷But to each one of us was the grace given according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

⁸De aceea este zis: ,,S'a suit sus, a luat robia roabă, şi a dat daruri oamenilor.``

⁸Therefore he says, “When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men.” Psalm 68:18

⁹Şi acest: ,,S'a suit``, ce însemnează decît că înainte Se pogorîse în părţile mai de jos ale pămîntului?

⁹Now this, “He ascended,” what is it but that he also first descended into the lower parts of the earth?

¹⁰Cel ce S'a pogorît, este acelaş cu cel ce s'a suit mai pe sus de toate cerurile, ca să umple toate lucrurile.

¹⁰He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.

¹¹Şi El a dat pe unii apostoli; pe alţii, prooroci; pe alţii, evanghelişti; pe alţii, păstori şi învăţători,

¹¹He gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, shepherds or, pastors and teachers;

¹²pentru desăvîrşirea sfinţilor, în vederea lucrării de slujire, pentru zidirea trupului lui Hristos,

¹²for the perfecting of the saints, to the work of serving, to the building up of the body of Christ;

¹³pînă vom ajunge toţi la unirea credinţei şi a cunoştinţei Fiului lui Dumnezeu, la starea de om mare, la înălţimea staturii plinătăţii lui Hristos;

¹³until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a full grown man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;

¹⁴ca să nu mai fim copii, plutind încoace şi încolo, purtaţi de orice vînt de învăţătură, prin viclenia oamenilor şi prin şiretenia lor în mijloacele de amăgire;

¹⁴that we may no longer be children, tossed back and forth and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in craftiness, after the wiles of error;

¹⁵ci, credincioşi adevărului, în dragoste, să creştem în toate privinţele, ca să ajungem la Cel ce este Capul, Hristos.

¹⁵but speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him, who is the head, Christ;

¹⁶Din El tot trupul, bine închegat şi strîns legat, prin ceiace dă fiecare încheitură, îşi primeşte creşterea, potrivit cu lucrarea fiecărei părţi în măsura ei, şi se zideşte în dragoste.

¹⁶from whom all the body, being fitted and knit together through that which every joint supplies, according to the working in measure of each individual part, makes the body increase to the building up of itself in love.

¹⁷Iată dar ce vă spun şi mărturisesc eu în Domnul: să nu mai trăiţi cum trăiesc păgînii, în deşertăciunea gîndurilor lor,

¹⁷This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind,

¹⁸avînd mintea întunecată, fiind străini de viaţa lui Dumnezeu, din pricina neştiinţei în care se află în urma împietririi inimii lor.

¹⁸being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their hearts;

¹⁹Ei şi-au perdut orice pic de simţire, s'au dedat la desfrînare, şi săvîrşesc cu lăcomie orice fel de necurăţie.

¹⁹who having become callous gave themselves up to lust, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

²⁰Dar voi n'aţi învăţat aşa pe Hristos;

²⁰But you did not learn Christ that way;

²¹dacă, cel puţin, L-aţi ascultat, şi dacă, potrivit adevărului care este în Isus, aţi fost învăţaţi,

²¹if indeed you heard him, and were taught in him, even as truth is in Jesus:

²²cu privire la felul vostru de viaţă din trecut, să vă desbrăcaţi de omul cel vechi care se strică după poftele înşelătoare;

²²that you put away, as concerning your former way of life, the old man, that grows corrupt after the lusts of deceit;

²³şi să vă înoiţi în duhul minţii voastre,

²³and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,

²⁴şi să vă îmbrăcaţi în omul cel nou, făcut după chipul lui Dumnezeu, de o neprihănire şi sfinţenie pe care o dă adevărul.

²⁴and put on the new man, who in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.

²⁵De aceea, lăsaţi-vă de minciună: ,,Fiecare dintre voi să spună aproapelui său adevărul``, pentrucă sîntem mădulare unii altora.

²⁵Therefore putting away falsehood, speak truth each one with his neighbor. For we are members of one another.

²⁶,,Mîniaţi-vă şi nu păcătuiţi``. Să n'apună soarele peste mînia voastră,

²⁶“Be angry, and don’t sin.” Psalm 4:4 Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath,

²⁷şi să nu daţi prilej diavolului.

²⁷neither give place to the devil.

²⁸Cine fura, să nu mai fure; ci mai de grabă să lucreze cu mînile lui la ceva bun, ca să aibă ce să dea celui lipsit.

²⁸Let him who stole steal no more; but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing that is good, that he may have something to give to him who has need.

²⁹Niciun cuvînt stricat să nu vă iasă din gură; ci unul bun, pentru zidire, după cum e nevoie, ca să dea har celor ce -l aud.

²⁹Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear.

³⁰Să nu întristaţi pe Duhul Sfînt al lui Dumnezeu, prin care aţi fost pecetluiţi pentru ziua răscumpărării.

³⁰Don’t grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

³¹Orice amărăciune, orice iuţime, orice mînie, orice strigare, orice clevetire şi orice fel de răutate să piară din mijlocul vostru.

³¹Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice.

³²Dimpotrivă, fiţi buni unii cu alţii, miloşi, şi iertaţi-vă unul pe altul, cum v'a iertat şi Dumnezeu pe voi în Hristos.

³²And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.
