¹Bildad din Şuah a luat cuvîntul şi a zis:

¹Then Bildad the Shuhite answered,

²,,Cînd vei pune capăt acestor cuvîntări? Vino-ţi în minte şi apoi vom vorbi.

²“How long will you hunt for words? Consider, and afterwards we will speak.

³Pentruce ne socoţi atît de dobitoci? Pentru ce ne priveşti ca pe nişte vite?

³Why are we counted as animals, which have become unclean in your sight?

⁴Oare pentru tine, care te sfîşii în mînia ta, s'ajungă pustiu pămîntul, şi să se strămute stîncile din locul lor?

⁴You who tear yourself in your anger, shall the earth be forsaken for you? Or shall the rock be removed out of its place?

⁵5. Da, lumina celui rău se va stinge, şi flacăra din focul lui, nu va mai străluci.

⁵“Yes, the light of the wicked shall be put out, The spark of his fire shall not shine.

⁶Se va întuneca lumina în cortul lui, şi se va stinge candela deasupra lui.

⁶The light shall be dark in his tent. His lamp above him shall be put out.

⁷Paşii lui cei puternici se vor strîmta; şi, cu toate opintirile lui, va cădea.

⁷The steps of his strength shall be shortened. His own counsel shall cast him down.

⁸Căci calcă cu picioarele pe laţ, şi umblă prin ochiuri de reţea;

⁸For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he wanders into its mesh.

⁹este prins în cursă de călcăi, şi laţul pune stăpînire pe el;

⁹A snare will take him by the heel. A trap will catch him.

¹⁰capcana în care se prinde este ascunsă în pămînt, şi prinzătoarea îi stă pe cărare.

¹⁰A noose is hidden for him in the ground, a trap for him in the way.

¹¹De jur împrejur îl apucă spaima, şi -l urmăreşte pas cu pas.

¹¹Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, and shall chase him at his heels.

¹²Foamea îi mănîncă puterile, nenorocirea este alături de el.

¹²His strength shall be famished. Calamity shall be ready at his side.

¹³Mădularele îi sînt mistuite unul după altul, mădularele îi sînt mîncate de întîiul născut al morţii.

¹³The members of his body shall be devoured. The firstborn of death shall devour his members.

¹⁴Este smuls din cortul lui unde se credea la adăpost, şi este tîrît spre împăratul spaimelor.

¹⁴He shall be rooted out of his tent where he trusts. He shall be brought to the king of terrors.

¹⁵Nimeni din ai lui nu locuieşte în cortul lui, pucioasă este presărată pe locuinţa lui.

¹⁵There shall dwell in his tent that which is none of his. Sulfur shall be scattered on his habitation.

¹⁶Jos, i se usucă rădăcinile; sus îi sînt ramurile tăiate.

¹⁶His roots shall be dried up beneath. Above shall his branch be cut off.

¹⁷Îi piere pomenirea de pe pămînt, numele lui nu mai este pe uliţă.

¹⁷His memory shall perish from the earth. He shall have no name in the street.

¹⁸Este împins din lumină în întunerec, şi este izgonit din lume.

¹⁸He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.

¹⁹Nu lasă nici moştenitori, nici sămînţă în poporul său, nicio rămăşiţă vie în locurile în cari locuia.

¹⁹He shall have neither son nor grandson among his people, nor any remaining where he lived.

²⁰Neamurile cari vor veni se vor uimi de prăpădirea lui, şi neamul de acum va fi cuprins de groază.

²⁰Those who come after shall be astonished at his day, as those who went before were frightened.

²¹Aceasta este soarta celui rău, aceasta este soarta celui ce nu cunoaşte pe Dumnezeu.``

²¹Surely such are the dwellings of the unrighteous. This is the place of him who doesn’t know God.”
