1Elihu a luat din nou cuvîntul, şi a zis:
1Moreover Elihu answered,
2,Ascultaţi, înţelepţilor, cuvintele mele! Luaţi aminte la mine, pricepuţilor!
2“Hear my words, you wise men. Give ear to me, you who have knowledge.
3Căci urechea deosebeşte cuvintele, cum gustă cerul gurii bucatele.`
3For the ear tries words, as the palate tastes food.
4Să alegem ce este drept, să vedem între noi ce este bun.
4Let us choose for us that which is right. Let us know among ourselves what is good.
5Iov a zis: ,Sînt nevinovat Şi Dumnezeu nu vrea să-mi dea dreptate;
5For Job has said, ‘I am righteous, God has taken away my right:
6am dreptate şi trec drept mincinos; rana mea este jalnică, şi sînt fără păcat.`
6Notwithstanding my right I am considered a liar. My wound is incurable, though I am without disobedience.’
7Este vreun om ca Iov, care să bea batjocura ca apa,
7What man is like Job, who drinks scorn like water,
8care să umble în tovărăşia celor ce fac rău, care să meargă mînă în mînă cu cei nelegiuiţi?
8Who goes in company with the workers of iniquity, and walks with wicked men?
9Căci el a zis: ,Nu -i foloseşte nimic omului să-şi pună plăcerea în Dumnezeu.`
9For he has said, ‘It profits a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.’
10Ascultaţi-mă dar, oameni pricepuţi! Departe de Dumnezeu nedreptatea, departe de Cel Atotputernic fărădelegea!
10“Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness, from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.
11El dă omului după faptele lui, răsplăteşte fiecăruia după căile lui.
11For the work of a man he will render to him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.
12Nu, negreşit, Dumnezeu nu săvîrşeşte fărădelegea; Cel Atotputernic nu calcă dreptatea.
12Yes surely, God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert justice.
13Cine L -a însărcinat să cîrmuiască pămîntul? Cine I -a dat lumea în grija Lui?
13Who put him in charge of the earth? or who has appointed him over the whole world?
14Dacă nu s'ar gîndi decît la El, dacă Şi-ar lua înapoi duhul şi suflarea,
14If he set his heart on himself, If he gathered to himself his spirit and his breath,
15tot ce este carne ar pieri deodată, şi omul s'ar întoarce în ţărînă.
15all flesh would perish together, and man would turn again to dust.
16Dacă ai pricepere, ascultă lucrul acesta, ia aminte la glasul cuvintelor mele!
16“If now you have understanding, hear this. Listen to the voice of my words.
17Oare ar putea să domnească un vrăjmaş al dreptăţii? Şi vei osîndi tu pe Cel drept, pe Cel puternic,
17Shall even one who hates justice govern? Will you condemn him who is righteous and mighty?—
18care strigă către împăraţi: ,Netrebnicilor!` Şi către domnitori: ,Nelegiuiţilor!`
18Who says to a king, ‘Vile!’ or to nobles, ‘Wicked!’?
19Care nu caută la faţa celor mari, şi nu face deosebire între bogat şi sărac, pentrucă toţi sînt lucrarea mînilor Lui?
19Who doesn’t respect the persons of princes, nor respects the rich more than the poor; for they all are the work of his hands.
20Într'o clipă, ei îşi pierd viaţa. La miezul nopţii, un popor se clatină şi piere. Cel puternic piere, fără amestecul mînii vreunui om.
20In a moment they die, even at midnight. The people are shaken and pass away. The mighty are taken away without a hand.
21Căci Dumnezeu vede purtatea tuturor, priveşte paşii fiecăruia.
21“For his eyes are on the ways of a man. He sees all his goings.
22Nu este nici întunerec, nici umbră a morţii, unde să se poată ascunde cei ce fac fărădelegea.
22There is no darkness, nor thick gloom, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
23Dumnezeu n'are nevoie să privească multă vreme, ca să tragă pe un om la judecată înaintea Lui.
23For he doesn’t need to consider a man further, that he should go before God in judgment.
24El zdrobeşte pe cei mari fără cercetare, şi pune pe alţii în locul lor.
24He breaks in pieces mighty men in ways past finding out, and sets others in their place.
25Căci El cunoaşte faptele lor: noaptea îi răstoarnă, sînt zdrobiţi.
25Therefore he takes knowledge of their works. He overturns them in the night, so that they are destroyed.
26Îi loveşte ca pe nişte nelegiuiţi, în faţa tuturor.
26He strikes them as wicked men in the open sight of others;
27Abătîndu-se dela El, şi părăsindtoate căile Lui,
27because they turned aside from following him, and wouldn’t pay attention to any of his ways,
28ei au făcut să se înalţe la Dumnezeu strigătul săracului. I-au îndreptat luarea aminte la strigătul celui nenorocit.
28so that they caused the cry of the poor to come to him. He heard the cry of the afflicted.
29Dacă dă El pace, cine poate s'o turbure? Dacă Îşi ascunde El Faţa, cine poate să -L vadă? La fel se poartă fie cu un popor, fie cu un om,
29When he gives quietness, who then can condemn? When he hides his face, who then can see him? Alike whether to a nation, or to a man,
30pentru ca nelegiuitul să nu mai stăpînească şi să nu mai fie o cursă pentru popor.
30that the godless man may not reign, that there be no one to ensnare the people.
31Căci a zis el vreodată lui Dumnezeu: ,Am fost pedepsit, nu voi mai păcătui;
31“For has any said to God, ‘I am guilty, but I will not offend any more.
32arată-mi ce nu văd; dacă am făcut nedreptăţi, nu voi mai face?`
32Teach me that which I don’t see. If I have done iniquity, I will do it no more’?
33Oare după părerea ta va face Dumnezeu dreptate? Tu lepezi, tu alegi, şi nu eu; Spune dar ce ştii!
33Shall his recompense be as you desire, that you refuse it? For you must choose, and not I. Therefore speak what you know.
34Oamenii cu pricepere vor fi de părerea mea, înţeleptul care m'ascultă va gîndi ca mine:
34Men of understanding will tell me, yes, every wise man who hears me:
35,Iov vorbeşte fără pricepere, şi cuvîntările lui sînt lipsite de judecată.
35‘Job speaks without knowledge. His words are without wisdom.’
36Să fie încercat dar mai departe, fiindcă răspunde ca cei răi!
36I wish that Job were tried to the end, because of his answering like wicked men.
37Căci adaugă la greşelile lui păcate noi; bate din palme în mijlocul nostru, îşi înmulţeşte cuvintele împotriva lui Dumnezeu.``
37For he adds rebellion to his sin. He claps his hands among us, and multiplies his words against God.”
