¹Planurile pe cari le face inima atîrnă de om, dar răspunsul pe care -l dă gura vine dela Domnul. -

¹The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from Yahweh.

²Toate căile omului sînt curate în ochii lui, dar celce cercetează duhurile este Domnul. -

²All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but Yahweh weighs the motives.

³Încredinţează-ţi lucrările în mîna Domnului, şi îţi vor izbuti planurile. -

³Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed.

⁴Domnul a făcut toate pentru o ţintă, chiar şi pe cel rău pentru ziua nenorocirii. -

⁴Yahweh has made everything for its own end— yes, even the wicked for the day of evil.

⁵Orice inimă trufaşă este o scîrbă înaintea Domnului; hotărît, ea nu va rămînea nepedepsită. -

⁵Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to Yahweh: they shall certainly not be unpunished.

⁶Prin dragoste şi credincioşie omul ispăşeşte nelegiuirea, şi prin frica de Domnul se abate dela rău. -

⁶By mercy and truth iniquity is atoned for. By the fear of Yahweh men depart from evil.

⁷Cînd sînt plăcute Domnului căile cuiva, îi face prieteni chiar şi pe vrăjmaşii lui. -

⁷When a man’s ways please Yahweh, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

⁸Mai bine puţin, cu dreptate, decît mari venituri, cu strîmbătate. -

⁸Better is a little with righteousness, than great revenues with injustice.

⁹Inima omului se gîndeşte pe ce cale să meargă, dar Domnul îi îndreaptă paşii. -

⁹A man’s heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps.

¹⁰Hotărîri dumnezeieşti sînt pe buzele împăratului, gura lui nu trebuie să facă greşeli cînd judecă. -

¹⁰Inspired judgments are on the lips of the king. He shall not betray his mouth.

¹¹Cîntarul şi cumpăna dreaptă vin dela Domnul; toate greutăţile de cîntărit sînt lucrarea Lui. -

¹¹Honest balances and scales are Yahweh’s; all the weights in the bag are his work.

¹²Împăraţilor le este scîrbă să facă rău, căci prin neprihănire se întăreşte un scaun de domnie. -

¹²It is an abomination for kings to do wrong, for the throne is established by righteousness.

¹³Buzele neprihănite sînt plăcute împăraţilor, şi ei iubesc pe celce vorbeşte cu neprihănire. -

¹³Righteous lips are the delight of kings. They value one who speaks the truth.

¹⁴Mînia împăratului este un vestitor al morţii, dar un om înţelept trebuie s'o potolească. -

¹⁴The king’s wrath is a messenger of death, but a wise man will pacify it.

¹⁵Seninătatea feţei împăratului este viaţa, şi bunăvoinţa lui este ca o ploaie de primăvară. -

¹⁵In the light of the king’s face is life. His favor is like a cloud of the spring rain.

¹⁶Cu cît mai mult face cîştigarea înţelepciunii decît a aurului! Cu cît este mai de dorit cîştigarea priceperii decît a argintului! -

¹⁶How much better it is to get wisdom than gold! Yes, to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.

¹⁷Calea oamenilor fără prihană este să se ferească de rău; acela îşi păzeşte sufletul, care veghează asupra căii sale. -

¹⁷The highway of the upright is to depart from evil. He who keeps his way preserves his soul.

¹⁸Mîndria merge înaintea pieirii, şi trufia merge înainte căderii. -

¹⁸Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

¹⁹Mai bine să fii smerit cu cei smeriţi, decît să împarţi prada cu cei mîndri. -

¹⁹It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor, than to divide the plunder with the proud.

²⁰Cine cugetă la Cuvîntul Domnului, găseşte fericirea, şi cine se încrede în Domnul este fericit. -

²⁰He who heeds the Word finds prosperity. Whoever trusts in Yahweh is blessed.

²¹Cine are o inimă înţeleaptă este numit priceput, dar dulceaţa buzelor măreşte ştiinţa. -

²¹The wise in heart shall be called prudent. Pleasantness of the lips promotes instruction.

²²Înţelepciunea este un izvor de viaţă pentru cine o are; dar pedeapsa nebunilor este nebunia lor. -

²²Understanding is a fountain of life to one who has it, but the punishment of fools is their folly.

²³Cine are o inimă înţeleaptă, îşi arată înţelepciunea cînd vorbeşte, şi mereu se văd învăţături noi pe buzele lui. -

²³The heart of the wise instructs his mouth, and adds learning to his lips.

²⁴Cuvintele prietenoase sînt ca un fagur de miere, dulci pentru suflet, şi sănătoase pentru oase. -

²⁴Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

²⁵Multe căi i se par bune omului, dar la urmă duc la moarte. -

²⁵There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

²⁶Cine munceşte, pentru el munceşte, căci foamea lui îl îndeamnă la lucru. -

²⁶The appetite of the laboring man labors for him; for his mouth urges him on.

²⁷Omul stricat pregăteşte nenorocirea, şi pe buzele lui este ca un foc aprins. -

²⁷A worthless man devises mischief. His speech is like a scorching fire.

²⁸Omul neastîmpărat stîrneşte certuri, şi pîrîtorul desbină pe cei mai buni prieteni. -

²⁸A perverse man stirs up strife. A whisperer separates close friends.

²⁹Omul asupritor amăgeşte pe aproapele său, şi -l duce pe o cale, care nu este bună. -

²⁹A man of violence entices his neighbor, and leads him in a way that is not good.

³⁰Cine închide ochii, ca să se dedea la gînduri stricate, cine-şi muşcă buzele, a şi săvîrşit răul. -

³⁰One who winks his eyes to plot perversities, one who compresses his lips, is bent on evil.

³¹Perii albi sînt o cunună de cinste, ea se găseşte pe calea neprihănirii. -

³¹Gray hair is a crown of glory. It is attained by a life of righteousness.

³²Cel încet la mînie preţuieşte mai mult decît un viteaz, şi cine este stăpîn pe sine preţuieşte mai mult decît cine cucereşte cetăţi. -

³²One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty; one who rules his spirit, than he who takes a city.

³³Se aruncă sorţul în poala hainei, dar orice hotărîre vine dela Domnul. -

³³The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from Yahweh.
