¹Nu strigă înţelepciunea, şi nu-şi înalţă priceperea glasul?

¹Doesn’t wisdom cry out? Doesn’t understanding raise her voice?

²Ea se aşează sus pe înălţimi, afară pe drum, la răspîntii,

²On the top of high places by the way, where the paths meet, she stands.

³şi strigă lîngă porţi, la intrarea cetăţii, la intrarea porţilor:

³Beside the gates, at the entry of the city, at the entry doors, she cries aloud:

⁴,,Oamenilor, către voi strig, şi spre fiii oamenilor se îndreaptă glasul meu.

⁴“To you men, I call! I send my voice to the sons of mankind.

⁵Învăţaţi-vă minte, proştilor, şi înţelepţiţi-vă nebunilor!

⁵You simple, understand prudence. You fools, be of an understanding heart.

⁶Asculaţi, căci am lucruri mari de spus, şi buzele mi se deschid ca să înveţe pe alţii ce este drept.

⁶Hear, for I will speak excellent things. The opening of my lips is for right things.

⁷Căci gura mea vesteşte adevărul, şi buzele mele urăsc minciuna!

⁷For my mouth speaks truth. Wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

⁸Toate cuvintele gurii mele sînt drepte, n'au nimic neadevărat nici sucit în ele.

⁸All the words of my mouth are in righteousness. There is nothing crooked or perverse in them.

⁹Toate sînt lămurite pentru cel priceput, şi drepte pentru ceice au găsit ştiinţa.

⁹They are all plain to him who understands, right to those who find knowledge.

¹⁰Primiţi mai de grabă învăţăturile mele decît argintul, şi mai de grabă ştiinţa de cît aurul scump.

¹⁰Receive my instruction rather than silver; knowledge rather than choice gold.

¹¹Căci înţelepciunea preţuieşte mai mult de cît mărgăritarele, şi nici un lucru de preţ nu se poate asemui cu ea.

¹¹For wisdom is better than rubies. All the things that may be desired can’t be compared to it.

¹²Eu, Înţelepciunea, am ca locuinţă mintea, şi pot născoci cele mai chibzuite planuri.

¹²“I, wisdom, have made prudence my dwelling. Find out knowledge and discretion.

¹³Frica de Domnul este urîrea răului; trufia şi mîndria, purtarea rea şi gura... mincinoasă, iată ce urăsc eu.

¹³The fear of Yahweh is to hate evil. I hate pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth.

¹⁴Dela mine vine sfatul şi izbînda, eu sînt priceperea, a mea este puterea.

¹⁴Counsel and sound knowledge are mine. I have understanding and power.

¹⁵Prin mine împărăţesc împăraţii şi dau voivozii porunci drepte.

¹⁵By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.

¹⁶Prin mine cîrmuiesc dregătorii, şi mai marii, toţi judecătorii pămîntului.

¹⁶By me princes rule; nobles, and all the righteous rulers of the earth.

¹⁷Eu iubesc pe ceice mă iubesc, şi cei ce mă caută cu totdinadinsul mă găsesc.

¹⁷I love those who love me. Those who seek me diligently will find me.

¹⁸Cu mine este bogăţia şi slava, avuţiile trainice şi dreptatea.

¹⁸With me are riches, honor, enduring wealth, and prosperity.

¹⁹Rodul meu este mai bun decît aurul cel mai curat, şi venitul meu întrece argintul cel mai ales.

¹⁹My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold; my yield than choice silver.

²⁰Eu umblu pe calea nevinovăţiei, pe mijlocul cărărilor neprihănirii,

²⁰I walk in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of justice;

²¹ca să dau o adevărată moştenire celor ce mă iubesc, şi să le umplu visteriile.

²¹That I may give wealth to those who love me. I fill their treasuries.

²²Domnul m'a făcut cea dintîi dintre lucrările Lui, înaintea celor mai vechi lucrări ale Lui.

²²“Yahweh possessed me in the beginning of his work, before his deeds of old.

²³Eu am fost aşezată din vecinicie, înainte de orice început, înainte de a fi pămîntul.

²³I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, before the earth existed.

²⁴Am fost născută cînd încă nu erau adîncuri, nici izvoare încărcate cu ape;

²⁴When there were no depths, I was brought forth, when there were no springs abounding with water.

²⁵am fost născută înainte de întărirea munţilor, înainte de a fi dealurile,

²⁵Before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was brought forth;

²⁶cînd nu era încă nici pămîntul, nici cîmpiile, nici cea dintîi fărîmă din pulberea lumii.

²⁶while as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the beginning of the dust of the world.

²⁷Cînd a întocmit Domnul cerurile, eu eram de faţă; cînd a tras o zare pe faţa adîncului,

²⁷When he established the heavens, I was there; when he set a circle on the surface of the deep,

²⁸cînd a pironit norii sus, şi cînd au ţîşnit cu putere izvoarele adîncului,

²⁸when he established the clouds above, when the springs of the deep became strong,

²⁹cînd a pus un hotar mării, ca apele să nu treacă peste porunca Lui, cînd a pus temeliile pămîntului,

²⁹when he gave to the sea its boundary, that the waters should not violate his commandment, when he marked out the foundations of the earth;

³⁰eu eram meşterul Lui, la lucru lîngă el, şi în toate zilele eram desfătarea Lui, jucînd neîncetat înaintea Lui,

³⁰then I was the craftsman by his side. I was a delight day by day, always rejoicing before him,

³¹jucînd pe rotocolul pămîntului Său, şi găsindu-mi plăcerea în fiii oamenilor.

³¹Rejoicing in his whole world. My delight was with the sons of men.

³²Şi acum, fiilor, ascultaţi-mă, căci ferice de ceice păzesc căile mele!

³²“Now therefore, my sons, listen to me, for blessed are those who keep my ways.

³³Ascultaţi învăţătura, ca să vă faceţi înţelepţi, şi nu lepădaţi sfatul meu.

³³Hear instruction, and be wise. Don’t refuse it.

³⁴Ferice de omul care m'ascultă, care veghează zilnic la porţile mele, şi păzeşte pragul uşii mele.

³⁴Blessed is the man who hears me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at my door posts.

³⁵Căci celce mă găseşte, găseşte viaţa, şi capătă bunăvoinţa Domnului.

³⁵For whoever finds me, finds life, and will obtain favor from Yahweh.

³⁶Dar celce păcătuieşte împotriva mea îşi vatămă sufletul său; toţi ceice mă urăsc pe mine, iubesc moartea.

³⁶But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul. All those who hate me love death.”
