¹Înţelepciunea şi -a zidit casa, şi -a tăiat cei şapte stîlpi.

¹Wisdom has built her house. She has carved out her seven pillars.

²Şi -a junghiat vitele, şi -a amestecat vinul, şi -a pus masa.

²She has prepared her meat. She has mixed her wine. She has also set her table.

³Şi -a trimes slujnicele, şi strigă, de pe... vîrful înălţimilor cetăţii:

³She has sent out her maidens. She cries from the highest places of the city:

⁴,,Cine este prost, să vină încoace!`` Celor lipsiţi de pricepere le zice:

⁴“Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” As for him who is void of understanding, she says to him,

⁵,,Veniţi de mîncaţi din pînea mea, şi beţi din vinul pe care l-am amestecat!

⁵“Come, eat some of my bread, Drink some of the wine which I have mixed!

⁶Lăsaţi prostia, şi veţi trăi, şi umblaţi pe calea priceperii!``

⁶Leave your simple ways, and live. Walk in the way of understanding.”

⁷Celce mustră pe un batjocoritor îşi trage dispreţ, şi celce caută să îndrepte pe cel rău se alege cu ocară.

⁷He who corrects a mocker invites insult. He who reproves a wicked man invites abuse.

⁸Nu mustra pe cel batjocoritor, ca să nu te urască; mustră pe cel înţelept, şi el te va iubi!

⁸Don’t reprove a scoffer, lest he hate you. Reprove a wise man, and he will love you.

⁹Dă înţeleptului, şi se va face şi mai înţelept; învaţă pe cel neprihănit, şi va învăţa şi mai mult!

⁹Instruct a wise man, and he will be still wiser. Teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.

¹⁰Începutul înţelepciunii este frica de Domnul; şi ştiinţa sfinţilor, este priceperea.

¹⁰The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom. The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

¹¹Prin mine ţi se vor înmulţi zilele, şi ţi se vor mări anii vieţii tale.

¹¹For by me your days will be multiplied. The years of your life will be increased.

¹²Dacă eşti înţelept, pentru tine eşti înţelept; dacă eşti batjocoritor, tu singur vei suferi.

¹²If you are wise, you are wise for yourself. If you mock, you alone will bear it.

¹³Nebunia este o femeie gălăgioasă, proastă şi care nu ştie nimic.

¹³The foolish woman is loud, Undisciplined, and knows nothing.

¹⁴Ea şade totuş la uşa casei sale, pe un scaun, pe înălţimile cetăţii,

¹⁵ca să strige la trecătorii, cari merg pe calea cea dreaptă:

¹⁶,,Cine este prost, să vină aici!`` Iar celui fără minte îi zice:

¹⁶“Whoever is simple, let him turn in here.” as for him who is void of understanding, she says to him,

¹⁷,,Apele furate sînt dulci, şi pînea luată pe ascuns este plăcută!``

¹⁷“Stolen water is sweet. Food eaten in secret is pleasant.”

¹⁸El nu ştie că acolo sînt morţii, şi că oaspeţii ei sînt în văile locuinţei morţilor.
