¹(Un psalm al lui Asaf.) Da, bun este Dumnezeu cu Israel, cu cei cu inima curată.

¹Surely God The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “Elohim.” is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart.

²Totuş, era să mi se îndoaie piciorul, şi erau să-mi alunece paşii!

²But as for me, my feet were almost gone. My steps had nearly slipped.

³Căci mă uitam cu jind la cei nesocotiţi, cînd vedeam fericirea celor răi.

³For I was envious of the arrogant, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

⁴Într'adevăr, nimic nu -i turbură pînă la moarte, şi trupul le este încărcat de grăsime.

⁴For there are no struggles in their death, but their strength is firm.

⁵N'au parte de suferinţele omeneşti, şi nu sînt loviţi ca ceilalţi oameni.

⁵They are free from burdens of men, neither are they plagued like other men.

⁶Deaceea mîndria le slujeşte ca salbă, şi asuprirea este haina care -i înveleşte.

⁶Therefore pride is like a chain around their neck. Violence covers them like a garment.

⁷Li se bulbucă ochii de grăsime, şi au mai mult decît le-ar dori inima.

⁷Their eyes bulge with fat. Their minds pass the limits of conceit.

⁸Rîd, şi vorbesc cu răutate de asuprire: vorbesc de sus,

⁸They scoff and speak with malice. In arrogance, they threaten oppression.

⁹îşi înalţă gura pînă la ceruri, şi limba le cutreieră pămîntul.

⁹They have set their mouth in the heavens. Their tongue walks through the earth.

¹⁰Deaceea aleargă lumea la ei, înghite apă din plin,

¹⁰Therefore their people return to them, and they drink up waters of abundance.

¹¹şi zice: ,,Ce ar putea să ştie Dumnezeu, şi ce ar putea să cunoască Cel Prea Înalt?``

¹¹They say, “How does God know? Is there knowledge in the Most High?”

¹²Aşa sînt cei răi: totdeauna fericiţi, şi îşi măresc bogăţiile.

¹²Behold, these are the wicked. Being always at ease, they increase in riches.

¹³Degeaba dar mi-am curăţit eu inima, şi mi-am spălat mînile în nevinovăţie:

¹³Surely in vain I have cleansed my heart, and washed my hands in innocence,

¹⁴căci în fiecare zi sînt lovit, şi în toate dimineţile sînt pedepsit.

¹⁴For all day long have I been plagued, and punished every morning.

¹⁵Dacă aş zice: ,,Vreau să vorbesc ca ei,`` iată că n'aş fi credincios neamului copiilor Tăi.

¹⁵If I had said, “I will speak thus”; behold, I would have betrayed the generation of your children.

¹⁶M'am gîndit la aceste lucruri ca să le pricep, dar zădarnică mi -a fost truda,

¹⁶When I tried to understand this, it was too painful for me;

¹⁷pînă ce am intrat în sfîntul locaş al lui Dumnezeu, şi am luat seama la soarta dela urmă a celor răi.

¹⁷Until I entered God’s sanctuary, and considered their latter end.

¹⁸Da, Tu -i pui în locuri alunecoase, şi -i arunci în prăpăd.

¹⁸Surely you set them in slippery places. You throw them down to destruction.

¹⁹Cum sînt nimiciţi într'o clipă! Sînt perduţi, prăpădiţi printr'un sfîrşit năpraznic.

¹⁹How they are suddenly destroyed! They are completely swept away with terrors.

²⁰Ca un vis la deşteptare, aşa le lepezi chipul, Doamne, la deşteptarea Ta!

²⁰As a dream when one wakes up, so, Lord, The word translated “Lord” is “Adonai.” when you awake, you will despise their fantasies.

²¹Cînd mi se amăra inima, şi mă simţeam străpuns în măruntaie,

²¹For my soul was grieved. I was embittered in my heart.

²²eram prost şi fără judecată, eram ca un dobitoc înaintea Ta.

²²I was so senseless and ignorant. I was a brute beast before you.

²³Însă eu sînt totdeauna cu Tine, Tu m'ai apucat de mîna dreaptă;

²³Nevertheless, I am continually with you. You have held my right hand.

²⁴mă vei călăuzi cu sfatul Tău, apoi mă vei primi în slavă.

²⁴You will guide me with your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.

²⁵Pe cine altul am eu în cer afară de Tine? Şi pe pămînt nu-mi găsesc plăcerea în nimeni decît în Tine.

²⁵Whom do I have in heaven? There is no one on earth whom I desire besides you.

²⁶Carnea şi inima pot să mi se prăpădească: fiindcă Dumnezeu va fi pururea stînca inimii mele şi partea mea de moştenire.

²⁶My flesh and my heart fails, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

²⁷Căci iată că ceice se depărtează de Tine, pier; Tu nimiceşti pe toţi ceice-Ţi sînt necredincioşi.

²⁷For, behold, those who are far from you shall perish. You have destroyed all those who are unfaithful to you.

²⁸Cît pentru mine, fericirea mea este să mă apropii de Dumnezeu: pe Domnul Dumnezeu Îl fac locul meu de adăpost, ca să povestesc toate lucrările Tale.

²⁸But it is good for me to come close to God. I have made the Lord Yahweh “Yahweh” is God’s proper Name, sometimes rendered “LORD” (all caps) in other translations. my refuge, that I may tell of all your works.
