1To the Overseer. — A Psalm of David. Hear, O God, my voice, in my meditation, From the fear of an enemy Thou keepest my life,
2Počuj, ó, Bože, môj hlas, keď pokorne volám! Ostríhaj môj život pred strachom nepriateľa.
2Hidest me from the secret counsel of evil doers, From the tumult of workers of iniquity.
3Skry ma pred tajnou radou zlostníkov, pred vzbúrou tých, ktorí páchajú neprávosť,
3Who sharpened as a sword their tongue, They directed their arrow — a bitter word.
4ktorí naostrili svoj jazyk ako meč; namierili svoju strelu, horké slovo,
4To shoot in secret places the perfect, Suddenly they shoot him, and fear not.
5aby z úkrytov strieľali do nevinného; strelia náhle do neho tak, čo sa nenazdá, a neboja sa.
5They strengthen for themselves an evil thing, They recount of the hiding of snares, They have said, `Who doth look at it?`
6Upevňujú sa v zlej veci; rozprávajú, že vraj ukryť a nadstaviť osídla a hovoria, že veď kto ich vidí?!
6They search out perverse things, `We perfected a searching search,` And the inward part of man, and the heart [are] deep.
7Vyhľadávajú nešľachetnosti. Bude nám koniec, keď bude plán vymyslený. A vnútro človeka a srdce je hlboké!
7And God doth shoot them [with] an arrow, Sudden have been their wounds,
8Ale strelí do nich Bôh; prebodne ich strela, tak čo sa nenazdajú a budú porazení.
8And they cause him to stumble, Against them [is] their own tongue, Every looker on them fleeth away.
9A spôsobia to, že ich jazyk dopadne na nich na samých tak, že zdesení budú krútiť hlavou všetci, ktorí budú hľadieť na nich.
9And all men fear, and declare the work of God, And His deed they have considered wisely.
10A budú sa báť všetci ľudia a budú zvestovať skutok Boží a porozumejúc jeho dielu zmúdrejú.
10The righteous doth rejoice in Jehovah, And hath trusted in Him, And boast themselves do all the upright of heart!
11Spravedlivý sa bude radovať v Hospodinovi a utečie sa k nemu, a chváliť sa ním budú všetci, ktorí sú priameho srdca.
