¹A Hospodin hovoril Mojžišovi v Arbót-moábe pri Jordáne, naproti Jerichu a riekol:

¹And Jehovah spoke to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan of Jericho, saying,

²Prikáž synom Izraelovým, aby dali Levitom z dedičstva svojho državia, mestá na bývanie, aj obvod pre mestá vôkol nich dáte Levitom.

²Command the children of Israel, that of the inheritance of their possession they give unto the Levites cities to dwell in; and a suburb for the cities round about them shall ye give unto the Levites.

³A mestá im budú na bývanie, a ich obvody budú pre ich hovädá a pre ich majetky a pre všetky ich zvieratá.

³And the cities shall they have to dwell in, and their suburbs shall be for their cattle, and for their goods, and for all their beasts.

⁴A obvody miest, ktoré dáte Levitom, budú takéhoto rozsahu: od múra mesta a na vonok budú na tisíc lakťov dookola.

⁴And the suburbs of the cities that ye shall give unto the Levites shall be from the walls of the city outward, a thousand cubits round about.

⁵A tedy nameriate vonku za mestom stranu na východ dva tisíce lakťov a stranu na juh dva tisíce lakťov a stranu na západ dva tisíce lakťov a stranu na sever dva tisíce lakťov, a mesto bude v prostredku. To im budú obvody miest.

⁵And ye shall measure, without the city, the east side two thousand cubits, and the south side two thousand cubits, and the west side two thousand cubits, and the north side two thousand cubits, and the city shall be in the midst: they shall have this as suburbs of the cities.

⁶A okrem miest, ktoré dáte Levitom, tých šesť útočištných miest, ktoré dáte nato, aby sa do nich do niektorého utiekol ten, kto niekoho zabil, dáte im ešte štyridsaťdva miest.

⁶And [among] the cities that ye shall give unto the Levites [shall be] the six cities of refuge, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may flee thither, -- and besides them ye shall give forty-two cities:

⁷Všetkých miest, ktoré dáte Levitom, bude štyridsaťosem miest aj s ich obvodami.

⁷all the cities that ye shall give to the Levites shall be forty-eight cities, they and their suburbs.

⁸A mestá, ktoré dáte z državia synov Izraelových, dáte tak, že od toho, kto dostal viacej, vezmete viacej, a od toho, kto dostal menej, vezmete menej. Každý dá Levitom zo svojich miest podľa veľkosti svojho dedičstva, ktoré ktorí zdedili.

⁸And the cities which ye shall give shall be of the possession of the children of Israel: from them that have much ye shall take much, and from them that have little ye shall take little; each one according to his inheritance which he will inherit shall give of his cities to the Levites.

⁹A Hospodin hovoril Mojžišovi a riekol

⁹And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,

¹⁰Hovor synom Izraelovým a povieš im: Keď prejdete Jordán a vojdete do Kananejskej zeme,

¹⁰Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye pass over the Jordan into the land of Canaan,

¹¹vyznačíte si mestá, ktoré vám budú útočištnými mestami, kam sa utečie vrah, ten, kto niekoho zabil z nedopatrenia.

¹¹then ye shall appoint for yourselves cities: cities of refuge shall they be for you; that a manslayer may flee thither, who without intent smiteth a person mortally.

¹²A tie mestá vám budú útočišťom pred pomstiteľom, aby nezomrel vrah, dokiaľ by nestál pred obcou na súd.

¹²And ye shall have these cities for refuge from the avenger; that the manslayer die not, until he have stood before the assembly in judgment.

¹³A tedy z miest, ktoré dáte, budete mať šesť útočištných miest.

¹³And the cities that ye shall give shall be six cities of refuge for you.

¹⁴Tri mestá dáte za Jordánom a tri mestá dáte v Kananejskej zemi, to budú útočištné mestá.

¹⁴Three cities shall ye give on this side of the Jordan, and three cities shall ye give in the land of Canaan; they shall be cities of refuge.

¹⁵Pre synov Izraelových, pre pohostína i pre príchodzieho medzi nimi bude tých šesť miest útočišťom, aby sa ta utiekol každý, kto by zabil niekoho z nedopatrenia.

¹⁵For the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for the sojourner among them shall these six cities be a refuge, that one who smiteth a person mortally without intent may flee thither.

¹⁶Ale keby niekto uderil niekoho železným nástrojom tak, že by zomrel, je vrah; taký vrah zomrie!

¹⁶And if he have smitten him with an instrument of iron, so that he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall certainly be put to death.

¹⁷A keby niekto uderil niekoho kameňom z ruky, od ktorého môže zomrieť človek, a zomrel by, je vrah; taký vrah zomrie!

¹⁷And if he have smitten him with a stone from the hand, wherewith one may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall certainly be put to death.

¹⁸Alebo keby ho uderil nejakým dreveným nástrojom z ruky, od ktorého môže zomrieť človek, a zomrel by, vrah je, taký vrah zomrie!

¹⁸Or if he have smitten him with an instrument of wood, in the hand, wherewith one may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall certainly be put to death;

¹⁹Sám pomstiteľ krvi zabije vraha; keď ho niekde pristihne, ten ho zabije.

¹⁹the avenger of blood, he shall put the murderer to death; when he meeteth him, he shall put him to death.

²⁰A keby niekto z nenávisti sotil niekoho alebo by hodil niečo na neho zúmyselne, a zomrel by;

²⁰And if he thrust at him out of hatred, or hurl at him intentionally, so that he die,

²¹alebo keby ho z nepriateľstva uderil svojou rukou tak, že by zomrel, istotne zomrie ten, kto tak uderil, je vrah. Pomstiteľ krvi zabije vraha, keď ho stretne.

²¹or from enmity smite him with his hand, so that he die, he that smote him shall certainly be put to death; he is a murderer: the avenger of blood shall put the murderer to death, when he meeteth him. --

²²Ale keby ho sotil z nenazdania, bez nepriateľstva, alebo keby hodil na neho nejakú vec, nech už by bola jakákoľvek, bez úmyslu,

²²But if he have thrust at him suddenly without enmity, or have cast upon him anything unintentionally,

²³alebo keby ho nevidel a spustil by na neho nejaký kameň, od ktorého by mohol zomrieť človek, a zomrel by, a nebol by mu býval nepriateľom ani by nebol hľadal jeho zlého,

²³or [have smitten him] with any stone wherewith one may die, without seeing him, and have cast it upon him so that he die, and he was not his enemy, neither sought his harm:

²⁴vtedy rozsúdi obec medzi tým, kto zabil, a medzi pomstiteľom krvi podľa týchto súdov.

²⁴then the assembly shall judge between the smiter and the avenger of blood according to these judgments;

²⁵A obec vytrhne takého vraha z ruky pomstiteľa krvi a navrátia ho, totiž obec, do mesta jeho útočišťa, do ktorého sa bol utiekol, a bude bývať v ňom až do smrti najvyššieho kňaza, ktorého pomazali svätým olejom.

²⁵and the assembly shall rescue the manslayer out of the hand of the avenger of blood, and the assembly shall restore him to the city of his refuge, whither he had fled; and he shall abide in it until the death of the high-priest, who was anointed with the holy oil.

²⁶Ale keby sa opovážil vrah a vyšiel by za chotár mesta svojho útočišťa, do ktorého sa utiekol,

²⁶But if the manslayer shall in any way come outside the limits of the city of his refuge whither he hath fled,

²⁷a pomstiteľ krvi by ho našiel vonku za chotárom mesta jeho útočišťa, a tam by zabil pomstiteľ krvi vraha, nemá viny na krvi,

²⁷and the avenger of blood find him outside the limits of his city of refuge, and the avenger of blood kill the manslayer, there shall be no blood-guiltiness upon him;

²⁸lebo má bývať v meste svojho útočišťa až do smrti najvyššieho kňaza, a len po smrti najvyššieho kňaza navráti sa vrah do zeme svojho državia.

²⁸for the manslayer should have remained in the city of his refuge until the death of the high-priest; but after the death of the high-priest he may return into the land of his possession.

²⁹A toto vám bude súdnym ustanovením po vašich pokoleniach vo všetkých vašich bydliskách.

²⁹And this shall be unto you a statute of right throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

³⁰Ktokoľvek by zabil človeka podľa svedoctva svedkov, zabijú vraha. Ale jeden svedok nebude môcť svedčiť proti niekomu tak, aby zomrel.

³⁰Whoever shall smite a person mortally, at the mouth of witnesses shall the murderer be put to death; but one witness shall not testify against a person to cause him to die.

³¹A nevezmete výplaty za dušu, za život vraha, ktorý súc nešľachetný je hoden smrti, ale doista zomrie.

³¹And ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, who is guilty of death, but he shall certainly be put to death.

³²Ani nevezmete výplaty za útek do mesta jeho útočišťa, tak aby sa vrátil a býval v zemi, dokiaľ nezomrie kňaz,

³²And ye shall take no satisfaction for him that hath fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.

³³aby ste nepoškvrnili zeme, v ktorej ste, lebo taká krv by poškvrnila zem. A takej zemi sa ničím iným nepokryje hriech za krv, ktorá bola vyliata v nej, iba krvou toho, kto ju vylial.

³³And ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are; for blood, it polluteth the land; and there can be no atonement made for the land, for the blood that hath been shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.

³⁴A preto nezanečistíš zeme, v ktorej bývate, a vprostred ktorej prebývam ja, lebo ja Hospodin prebývam prostred synov Izraelových.

³⁴And ye shall not defile the land that ye inhabit, in the midst whereof I dwell; for I am Jehovah who dwell in the midst of the children of Israel.
