¹Te pa so dediščine, ki so jih dobili sinovi Izraelovi v Kanaanski deželi, ki so jih jim porazdelili Eleazar duhovnik in Jozue, sin Nunov, in poglavarji očetovinam vseh rodov Izraelovih sinov;

¹And these [are] they [of] the sons of Israel who inherited in the land of Canaan, whom Eleazar the priest, and Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the sons of Israel, caused to inherit;

²po žrebanju so jim pridelili dediščino, kakor je GOSPOD zapovedal po Mojzesu, devetim rodom in polovici rodu.

²by lot [is] their inheritance, as Jehovah commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine of the tribes, and the half of the tribe;

³Dvema rodoma in polovici rodu je namreč Mojzes dal dediščino na oni strani Jordana. Levitom pa ni dal dediščine med njimi nobene.

³for Moses hath given the inheritance of two of the tribes, and of half of the tribe, beyond the Jordan, and to the Levites he hath not given an inheritance in their midst;

⁴Kajti Jožefovih sinov sta bila dva roda, Manase in Efraim; in levitom niso dali deleža v deželi, samo mesta za prebivanje in pašnike okoli njih njih živini in njih blagu.

⁴for the sons of Joseph hath been two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim, and they have not given a portion to the Levites in the land, except cities to dwell in, and their suburbs for their cattle, and for their possessions;

⁵Kakor je bil GOSPOD zapovedal Mojzesu, tako so storili Izraelovi sinovi in so razdelili deželo.

⁵as Jehovah commanded Moses, so have the sons of Israel done, and they apportion the land.

⁶Tedaj pristopijo Judovi sinovi k Jozuetu v Gilgalu, in Kaleb, sin Jefunov, Kenizejec, ga ogovori: Ti veš, kar je rekel GOSPOD Mojzesu, možu Božjemu, zastran mene in tebe v Kades-barnei.

⁶And the sons of Judah come nigh unto Joshua in Gilgal, and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenezzite saith unto him, `Thou hast known the word that Jehovah hath spoken unto Moses the man of God, concerning me and concerning thee in Kadesh-Barnea:

⁷Štirideset let sem bil star, ko me je poslal Mojzes, služabnik GOSPODOV, iz Kades-barnee ogledovat deželo; in prinesel sem mu poročilo, kakor mi je bilo pri srcu.

⁷a son of forty years [am] I in Moses, servant of Jehovah, sending me from Kadesh-Barnea, to spy the land, and I bring him back word as with my heart;

⁸Toda moji bratje, ki so šli gori z menoj, so ljudstvu v obup zapeljali srce, jaz pa sem zvesto hodil za GOSPODOM, Bogom svojim.

⁸and my brethren who have gone up with me have caused the heart of the people to melt, and I have been fully after Jehovah my God;

⁹In Mojzes je prisegel tisti dan, rekoč: Gotovo bode dežela, po kateri je stopala tvoja noga, tebi in tvojim otrokom dediščina vekomaj, ker si zvesto hodil za GOSPODOM, Bogom mojim.

⁹and Moses sweareth in that day, saying, If not — the land on which thy foot hath trodden, to thee it is for inheritance, and to thy sons — to the age, for thou hast been fully after Jehovah my God.

¹⁰In sedaj, glej, GOSPOD me je ohranil v življenju, kakor je govoril teh štirideset in pet let, odkar je govoril besedo to Mojzesu, ko je Izrael potoval po puščavi. In sedaj, glej, danes sem petinosemdeset let star:

¹⁰`And, now, lo, Jehovah hath kept me alive, as He hath spoken, these forty and five years, since Jehovah spake this word unto Moses, when Israel went in the wilderness; and now, lo, I [am] to-day a son of five and eighty years;

¹¹in še danes sem tako krepak kakor tisti dan, ko me je Mojzes odposlal; kakršna je bila moja moč takrat, je tudi sedaj, da se bojujem in hodim ven in noter.

¹¹yet [am] I to-day strong as in the day of Moses` sending me; as my power then, so [is] my power now, for battle, and to go out, and to come in.

¹²Sedaj torej mi daj to gorovje, ki je o njem govoril GOSPOD tisti dan; kajti slišal si takrat, da so Enakimi ondi in velika in utrjena mesta. Morda bode GOSPOD z menoj, da jih preženem, kakor je govoril GOSPOD.

¹²`And now, give to me this hill-country, of which Jehovah spake in that day, for thou didst hear in that day, for Anakim [are] there, and cities, great, fenced; if so be Jehovah [is] with me, then I have dispossessed them, as Jehovah hath spoken.`

¹³Tedaj ga blagoslovi Jozue ter da Hebron v dediščino Kalebu, sinu Jefunovemu.

¹³And Joshua blesseth him, and giveth Hebron to Caleb son of Jephunneh for an inheritance,

¹⁴Zato je prišel Hebron v dedno posest Kalebu, Jefunovemu sinu, Kenizejcu, do današnjega dne, ker je zvesto hodil za GOSPODOM, Bogom Izraelovim.Hebron pa se je prej imenoval Arbovo mesto; ta je bil največji mož med Enakimi. In dežela je počivala od vojen.

¹⁴therefore hath Hebron been to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenezzite for an inheritance unto this day, because that he was fully after Jehovah, God of Israel;

¹⁵Hebron pa se je prej imenoval Arbovo mesto; ta je bil največji mož med Enakimi. In dežela je počivala od vojen.

¹⁵and the name of Hebron formerly [is] Kirjath-Arba (he [is] the great man among the Anakim); and the land hath rest from war.
