¹"Me siguri ka një minierë për argjendin dhe një vend ku bëhet rafinimi i arit.

¹Surely there is a mine for silver, And a place for gold which they refine.

²Hekuri nxirret nga toka dhe guri i shkrirë jep bakrin.

²Iron is taken out of the earth, And copper is molten out of the stone.

³Njeriu i jep fund territ dhe hulumton thellësitë më të mëdha në kërkim të gurëve të varrosur në terr dhe në hijen e vdekjes.

³[Man] setteth an end to darkness, And searcheth out, to the furthest bound, The stones of obscurity and of thick darkness.

⁴Ai çel një pus larg vendbanimit, në vende të harruara nga këmbësorët; janë pezull dhe lëkunden larg njerëzve.

⁴He breaketh open a shaft away from where men sojourn; They are forgotten of the foot; They hang afar from men, they swing to and fro.

⁵Sa për tokën, prej asaj del buka, por nga poshtë është e trazuar nga zjarri.

⁵As for the earth, out of it cometh bread; And underneath it is turned up as it were by fire.

⁶Gurët e saj janë banesa e safirëve dhe përmbajnë pluhur ari.

⁶The stones thereof are the place of sapphires, And it hath dust of gold.

⁷Shpendi grabitqar nuk e njeh shtegun dhe as syri i skifterit nuk e ka parë kurrë.

⁷That path no bird of prey knoweth, Neither hath the falcon's eye seen it:

⁸Bishat e egra nuk e kanë përshkruar dhe as luani nuk ka kaluar kurrë andej.

⁸The proud beasts have not trodden it, Nor hath the fierce lion passed thereby.

⁹Njeriu vë dorë mbi strallin dhe i rrëzon malet nga rrënjët.

⁹He putteth forth his hand upon the flinty rock; He overturneth the mountains by the roots.

¹⁰Hap galeri ndër shkëmbinj dhe syri i tij sheh gjithçka që është e çmuar.

¹⁰He cutteth out channels among the rocks; And his eye seeth every precious thing.

¹¹Zë rrjedhat ujore që të mos rrjedhin, dhe nxjerr në dritë gjërat e fshehura.

¹¹He bindeth the streams that they trickle not; And the thing that is hid bringeth he forth to light.

¹²Po ku mund ta gjesh diturinë, dhe ku është vendi i zgjuarsisë?

¹²But where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding?

¹³Njeriu nuk ua di vlerën dhe ajo nuk gjendet mbi tokën e të gjallëve.

¹³Man knoweth not the price thereof; Neither is it found in the land of the living.

¹⁴Humnera thotë: "Nuk është tek unë"; deti thotë: "Nuk qëndron pranë meje".

¹⁴The deep saith, It is not in me; And the sea saith, It is not with me.

¹⁵Nuk përftohet duke e shkëmbyer me ar të rafinuar as blihet duke peshuar argjend.

¹⁵It cannot be gotten for gold, Neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof.

¹⁶Nuk shtihet në dorë me arin e Ofirit, me oniksin e çmuar ose me safirin.

¹⁶It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, With the precious onyx, or the sapphire.

¹⁷Ari dhe kristali nuk mund të barazohen me të dhe nuk këmbehet me enë ari të kulluar.

¹⁷Gold and glass cannot equal it, Neither shall it be exchanged for jewels of fine gold.

¹⁸Korali dhe kristali as që meritojnë të përmenden; vlera e diturisë është më e madhe se margaritarët.

¹⁸No mention shall be made of coral or of crystal: Yea, the price of wisdom is above rubies.

¹⁹Topazi i Etiopisë nuk mund të barazohet dhe nuk mund të vlerësohet me ar të kulluar.

¹⁹The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, Neither shall it be valued with pure gold.

²⁰Por atëherë nga rrjedh dituria dhe ku e ka selinë zgjuarsia?

²⁰Whence then cometh wisdom? And where is the place of understanding?

²¹Ajo u fshihet syve të çdo të gjalli, është e mbuluar për zogjtë e qiellit.

²¹Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living, And kept close from the birds of the heavens.

²²Abadoni dhe vdekja thonë: "Kemi dëgjuar të flitet për të me veshët tona".

²²Destruction and Death say, We have heard a rumor thereof with our ears.

²³Vetëm Perëndia njeh rrugën e saj, vetëm ai e di ku ndodhet,

²³God understandeth the way thereof, And he knoweth the place thereof.

²⁴sepse ai vë re skajet e tokës dhe sheh tërë ato që ndodhen nën qiejt.

²⁴For he looketh to the ends of the earth, And seeth under the whole heaven;

²⁵Kur caktoi peshën e erës dhe u caktoi ujërave një masë,

²⁵To make a weight for the wind: Yea, he meteth out the waters by measure.

²⁶kur bëri një ligj për shiun dhe një rrugë për vetëtimën e bubullimave,

²⁶When he made a decree for the rain, And a way for the lightning of the thunder;

²⁷atëherë pa dhe e tregoi, e vendosi dhe madje e hetoi,

²⁷Then did he see it, and declare it; He established it, yea, and searched it out.

²⁸dhe i tha njeriut: "Ja, të kesh frikë nga Zoti, kjo është dituri, dhe t'i largohesh së keqes është zgjuarsi"".

²⁸And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; And to depart from evil is understanding.
