¹Praise ye Jehovah. Oh give thanks unto Jehovah; for he is good; For his lovingkindness [endureth] forever.

²Kush mund të përshkruajë bëmat e Zotit ose të shpallë tërë lavdinë e tij?

²Who can utter the mighty acts of Jehovah, Or show forth all his praise?

³Lum ata që respektojnë drejtësinë, që bëjnë atë që është e drejtë në çdo kohë.

³Blessed are they that keep justice, And he that doeth righteousness at all times.

⁴Mos më harro mua, o Zot, sipas mirësisë sate që tregon ndaj popullit tënd, dhe më vizito me shpëtimin tënd,

⁴Remember me, O Jehovah, with the favor that thou bearest unto thy people; Oh visit me with thy salvation,

⁵me qëllim që të shoh mirëqënien e të zgjedhurve të tu, të kënaqem në gëzimin e kombit tënd dhe të mbushem me lavdi për trashëgiminë tënde.

⁵That I may see the prosperity of thy chosen, That I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, That I may glory with thine inheritance.

⁶Ne dhe etërit tanë kemi mëkatuar, kemi bërë paudhësi dhe të këqija.

⁶We have sinned with our fathers, We have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.

⁷Etërit tanë në Egjipt nuk i kuptuan mrekullitë e tua, nuk kujtuan numrin e madh të mirësive të tua dhe ngritën krye pranë detit, Deti i Kuq.

⁷Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; They remembered not the multitude of thy lovingkindnesses, But were rebellious at the sea, even at the Red Sea.

⁸Megjithatë Zoti i shpëtoi për hir të emrit të tij, për të bërë të njohur fuqinë e tij.

⁸Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, That he might make his mighty power to be known.

⁹I bërtiti Detit të Kuq dhe ai u tha, dhe i udhëhoqi nëpër humnerat si nëpër një shkretëtirë.

⁹He rebuked the Red Sea also, and it was dried up: So he led them through the depths, as through a wilderness.

¹⁰I shpëtoi nga dora e atij që i urrente dhe i shpengoi nga dora e armikut.

¹⁰And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, And redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

¹¹Dhe ujërat i mbuluan armiqtë e tyre, dhe nuk shpëtoi as edhe një prej tyre.

¹¹And the waters covered their adversaries; There was not one of them left.

¹²Atëherë u besuan fjalëve të tij dhe kënduan lavdinë e tij.

¹²Then believed they his words; They sang his praise.

¹³Por shpejt i harruan veprat e tij dhe nuk pritën me besim plotësimin e planit të tij.

¹³They soon forgat his works; They waited not for his counsel,

¹⁴U ndezën nga lakmia në shkretëtirë dhe e tunduan Perëndinë në vetmi.

¹⁴But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, And tempted God in the desert.

¹⁵Dhe ai u dha atyre sa i kërkonin, por dërgoi midis tyre një lëngatë që pakësoi numrin e tyre.

¹⁵And he gave them their request, But sent leanness into their soul.

¹⁶Kur në kamp patën smirë Moisiun dhe Aaronin, i shenjti i Zotit,

¹⁶They envied Moses also in the camp, [And] Aaron the saint of Jehovah.

¹⁷toka u hap dhe përpiu Dathanin dhe groposi grupin e Abiramit.

¹⁷The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, And covered the company of Abiram.

¹⁸Një zjarr shpërtheu në mes të tyre dhe flaka i përpiu të pabesët.

¹⁸And a fire was kindled in their company; The flame burned up the wicked.

¹⁹Bënë një viç në Horeb dhe adhuruan një shëmbëlltyrë prej metali të shkrirë,

¹⁹They made a calf in Horeb, And worshipped a molten image.

²⁰dhe e ndërruan lavdinë e tyre me shëmbëllytrën e një kau që ha bar.

²⁰Thus they changed their glory For the likeness of an ox that eateth grass.

²¹Harruan Perëndinë, Shpëtimtarin e tyre, që kishte bërë gjëra të mëdha në Egjipt,

²¹They forgat God their Saviour, Who had done great things in Egypt,

²²mrekullitë në vendin e Kamit, gjëra të tmerrshme në Detin e Kuq.

²²Wondrous works in the land of Ham, [And] terrible things by the Red Sea.

²³Prandaj ai foli t'i shfarosë, por Moisiu, i zgjedhuri i tij, u paraqit mbi të çarën përpara tij për të penguar që zemërimi i tij t'i shkatërronte.

²³Therefore he said that he would destroy them, Had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, To turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy [them].

²⁴Ata e përçmuan akoma vendin e mrekullueshëm, nuk i besuan fjalës së tij,

²⁴Yea, they despised the pleasant land, They believed not his word,

²⁵por murmuritën në çadrat e tyre dhe nuk dëgjuan zërin e Zotit.

²⁵But murmured in their tents, And hearkened not unto the voice of Jehovah.

²⁶Prandaj ai ngriti dorën kundër tyre, duke u betuar se do t'i rrëzonte në shkretëtirë,

²⁶Therefore he sware unto them, That he would overthrow them in the wilderness,

²⁷dhe se do t'i zhdukte pasardhësit e tyre midis kombeve dhe se do t'i shpërndante në të gjitha vendet.

²⁷And that he would overthrow their seed among the nations, And scatter them in the lands.

²⁸Ata i shërbyen edhe Baal-Peorit dhe hëngrën flijimet e të vdekurve.

²⁸They joined themselves also unto Baal-peor, And ate the sacrifices of the dead.

²⁹E zemëruan Perëndinë me veprimet e tyre dhe në mes tyre plasi murtaja.

²⁹Thus they provoked him to anger with their doings; And the plague brake in upon them.

³⁰Por Finehasi u ngrit dhe bëri drejtësi; dhe murtaja pushoi.

³⁰Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment; And so the plague was stayed.

³¹Dhe kjo iu vu në llogari të drejtësisë, brez pas brezi, përjetë.

³¹And that was reckoned unto him for righteousness, Unto all generations for evermore.

³²Ata e provokuan përsëri në ujërat e Meribas, dhe Moisiu pësoi të keqen për shkak të tyre,

³²They angered him also at the waters of Meribah, So that it went ill with Moses for their sakes;

³³sepse e ashpërsoi frymën e tij (të Moisiut) dhe ai foli pa u menduar me buzët e tij.

³³Because they were rebellious against his spirit, And he spake unadvisedly with his lips.

³⁴Ata nuk shkatërruan popujt, siç i kishte porositur Zoti;

³⁴They did not destroy the peoples, As Jehovah commanded them,

³⁵por u përzien midis popujve dhe mësuan veprat e tyre;

³⁵But mingled themselves with the nations, And learned their works,

³⁶u shërbyen idhujve të tyre, dhe këta u bënë një lak për ta;

³⁶And served their idols, Which became a snare unto them.

³⁷ua flijuan demonëve bijtë dhe bijat e tyre,

³⁷Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto demons,

³⁸dhe derdhën gjak të pafajshëm, gjakun e bijve të tyre dhe të bijave të tyre, që u flijuan për idhujtë e Kanaanit; dhe vendi u ndot nga gjaku i derdhur.

³⁸And shed innocent blood, Even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, Whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan; And the land was polluted with blood.

³⁹Kështu ata u ndotën me veprat e tyre dhe u kurvëruan me aktet e tyre.

³⁹Thus were they defiled with their works, And played the harlot in their doings.

⁴⁰Dhe zemërimi i Zotit u ndez kundër popullit të tij, dhe ai ndjeu një neveri për trashëgiminë e tij.

⁴⁰Therefore was the wrath of Jehovah kindled against his people, And he abhorred his inheritance.

⁴¹I la në dorë të kombeve, dhe u sunduan nga ata që i urrenin.

⁴¹And he gave them into the hand of the nations; And they that hated them ruled over them.

⁴²Armiqtë e tyre i shtypën dhe ata iu nënshtruan pushtetit të tyre.

⁴²Their enemies also oppressed them, And they were brought into subjection under their hand.

⁴³Ai i çliroi shumë herë, por ata vazhduan të ngrenë krye dhe të zhyten në paudhësinë e tyre.

⁴³Many times did he deliver them; But they were rebellious in their counsel, And were brought low in their iniquity.

⁴⁴Megjithatë ai i kushtoi kujdes ankthit të tyre, kur dëgjoi britmat e tyre,

⁴⁴Nevertheless he regarded their distress, When he heard their cry:

⁴⁵dhe iu kujtua besëlidhja e lidhur me ta dhe në dhemshurinë e madhe të tij u qetësua.

⁴⁵And he remembered for them his covenant, And repented according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.

⁴⁶Bëri që ata të fitojnë përkrahje ndër të gjithë ata që i kishin çuar në robëri.

⁴⁶He made them also to be pitied Of all those that carried them captive.

⁴⁷Na shpëto, o Zot, Perëndia ynë, dhe na mblidh midis kombeve, me qëllim që të kremtojmë emrin tënd të shenjtë dhe të lumturohemi duke të lëvduar.

⁴⁷Save us, O Jehovah our God, And gather us from among the nations, To give thanks unto thy holy name, And to triumph in thy praise.

⁴⁸I bekuar qoftë Zoti, Perëndia i Izraelit, nga përjetësia në përjetësi. Dhe tërë populli le të thotë: "Amen". Aleluja.

⁴⁸Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Israel, From everlasting even to everlasting. And let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye Jehovah. BOOK V
