¹Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? or canst thou mark when the hinds do calve?

²[39:5] Јеси ли избројао месеце, докле носе? Знаш ли време кад се легу?

²Canst thou number the months that they fulfil? or knowest thou the time when they bring forth?

³[39:6] Како се савијају, млад своју испуштају, и опраштају се болова?

³They bow themselves, they bring forth their young ones, they cast out their sorrows.

⁴[39:7] Како јача млад њихова, расте по пољу и отишавши не враћа се к њима?

⁴Their young ones are in good liking, they grow up with corn; they go forth, and return not unto them.

⁵[39:8] Ко је пустио дивљег магарца да је слободан, и ремене дивљем магарцу ко је разрешио?

⁵Who hath sent out the wild ass free? or who hath loosed the bands of the wild ass?

⁶[39:9] Коме одредих пустињу за кућу и за стан слатину.

⁶Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the barren land his dwellings.

⁷[39:10] Он се смеје вреви градској, и не слуша вике настојникове.

⁷He scorneth the multitude of the city, neither regardeth he the crying of the driver.

⁸[39:11] Шта налази у горама, оно му је пића, и тражи сваку зелен.

⁸The range of the mountains is his pasture, and he searcheth after every green thing.

⁹[39:12] Би ли ти једнорог хтео служити? Би ли ноћивао за јаслама твојим?

⁹Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib?

¹⁰[39:13] Можеш ли везати ужем једнорога да оре? Хоће ли влачити бразде за тобом?

¹⁰Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?

¹¹[39:14] Хоћеш ли се ослонити на њ што му је снага велика? И оставити на њему свој посао?

¹¹Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? or wilt thou leave thy labour to him?

¹²[39:15] Хоћеш ли се поуздати у њ да ће ти свести летину и на гумно твоје сложити?

¹²Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather it into thy barn?

¹³[39:16] Јеси ли ти дао пауну лепа крила и перје чапљи или ноју?

¹³Gavest thou the goodly wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich?

¹⁴[39:17] Који снесе на земљи јајца своја, и остави их да их прах греје?

¹⁴Which leaveth her eggs in the earth, and warmeth them in dust,

¹⁵[39:18] И не мисли да ће их нога разбити и звер пољска згазити;

¹⁵And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may break them.

¹⁶[39:19] Немилостив је птићима својим као да нису његови, и да му труд не буде узалуд не боји се.

¹⁶She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not her's: her labour is in vain without fear;

¹⁷[39:20] Јер му Бог није дао мудрости нити му је уделио разума.

¹⁷Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath he imparted to her understanding.

¹⁸[39:21] Кад се подигне у вис, смеје се коњу и коњику.

¹⁸What time she lifteth up herself on high, she scorneth the horse and his rider.

¹⁹[39:22] Јеси ли ти дао коњу јачину? Јеси ли ти окитио врат његов рзањем?

¹⁹Hast thou given the horse strength? hast thou clothed his neck with thunder?

²⁰Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils is terrible.

²¹[39:24] Копа земљу, весео је од силе, иде на сусрет оружју;

²¹He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men.

²²[39:25] Смеје се страху и не плаши се нити узмиче испред мача;

²²He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword.

²³[39:26] Кад звекће над њим тул и сева копље и сулица;

²³The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield.

²⁴[39:27] Од немирноће и љутине копа земљу, и не може да стоји кад труба затруби.

²⁴He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believeth he that it is the sound of the trumpet.

²⁵[39:28] Кад труба затруби, он вришти, из далека чује бој, вику војвода и поклич.

²⁵He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.

²⁶[39:29] Еда ли по твом разуму лети јастреб? Шири крила своја на југ?

²⁶Doth the hawk fly by thy wisdom, and stretch her wings toward the south?

²⁷[39:30] Еда ли се на твоју заповест диже у вис орао, и на висини вије гнездо?

²⁷Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high?

²⁸[39:31] На стени станује и бави се, на врх стене, на тврдом месту.

²⁸She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place.

²⁹[39:32] Одатле гледа хране, далеко му виде очи.

²⁹From thence she seeketh the prey, and her eyes behold afar off.

³⁰[39:33] И птићи његови пију крв, и где су мртва телеса онде је он.

³⁰Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain are, there is she.
