²Iron is taken out of the earth, and copper is smelted out of the ore.

³Мраку поставља међу, и све истражује човек до краја, и камење у тами и у сену смртном.

³Man sets an end to darkness, and searches out, to the furthest bound, the stones of obscurity and of thick darkness.

⁴Река навре с места свог да јој нико не може приступити; али се одбије и одлази трудом човечјим.

⁴He breaks open a shaft away from where people live. They are forgotten by the foot. They hang far from men, they swing back and forth.

⁵Из земље излази хлеб, и под њом је друго, као огањ.

⁵As for the earth, out of it comes bread; Underneath it is turned up as it were by fire.

⁶У камену је њеном место сафиру, а онде је прах златни.

⁶Sapphires come from its rocks. It has dust of gold.

⁷Те стазе не зна птица, нити је виде око крагујево;

⁷That path no bird of prey knows, neither has the falcon’s eye seen it.

⁸Не угази је младо зверје, нити њом прође лав.

⁸The proud animals have not trodden it, nor has the fierce lion passed by there.

⁹На кремен диже руку своју; превраћа горе из дна.

⁹He puts forth his hand on the flinty rock, and he overturns the mountains by the roots.

¹⁰Из стене изводи потоке, и свашта драгоцено види Му око.

¹⁰He cuts out channels among the rocks. His eye sees every precious thing.

¹¹Уставља реке да не теку, и шта је сакривено износи на видело.

¹¹He binds the streams that they don’t trickle. The thing that is hidden he brings forth to light.

¹²Али мудрост где се налази? И где је место разуму?

¹²“But where shall wisdom be found? Where is the place of understanding?

¹³Не зна јој човек цене, нити се находи у земљи живих.

¹³Man doesn’t know its price; Neither is it found in the land of the living.

¹⁴Бездана вели: Није у мени; и море вели: Није код мене.

¹⁴The deep says, ‘It isn’t in me.’ The sea says, ‘It isn’t with me.’

¹⁵Не може се дати чисто злато за њу, нити се сребро измерити у промену за њу.

¹⁵It can’t be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for its price.

¹⁶Не може се ценити златом офирским, ни драгим онихом ни сафиром.

¹⁶It can’t be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire or, lapis lazuli .

¹⁷Не може се наједначити с њом ни злато ни кристал, нити се може променити за закладе златне.

¹⁷Gold and glass can’t equal it, neither shall it be exchanged for jewels of fine gold.

¹⁸Од корала и бисера нема спомена, јер је вредност мудрости већа него драгом камењу.

¹⁸No mention shall be made of coral or of crystal. Yes, the price of wisdom is above rubies.

¹⁹Не може се с њом изједначити топаз етиопски, нити се може ценити чистим златом.

¹⁹The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, Neither shall it be valued with pure gold.

²⁰Откуда, дакле, долази мудрост? И где је место разуму?

²⁰Where then does wisdom come from? Where is the place of understanding?

²¹Сакривена је од очију сваког живог, и од птица небеских заклоњена.

²¹Seeing it is hidden from the eyes of all living, and kept close from the birds of the sky.

²²Погибао и смрт говоре: Ушима својим чусмо славу њену.

²²Destruction and Death say, ‘We have heard a rumor of it with our ears.’

²³Бог зна пут њен, и познаје место њено.

²³“God understands its way, and he knows its place.

²⁴Јер гледа до крајева земаљских и види све што је под свим небом.

²⁴For he looks to the ends of the earth, and sees under the whole sky.

²⁵Кад даваше ветру тежину, и мераше воду мером,

²⁵He establishes the force of the wind. Yes, he measures out the waters by measure.

²⁶Кад постављаше закон дажду и пут муњи громовној.

²⁶When he made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunder;

²⁷Још је онда виде и огласи је, уреди је и претражи је.

²⁷then he saw it, and declared it. He established it, yes, and searched it out.

²⁸А човеку рече: Гле, страх је Божји мудрост, и уклањати се ода зла јесте разум.

²⁸To man he said, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord The word translated “Lord” is “Adonai.” , that is wisdom. To depart from evil is understanding.’”
