¹Därefter tog Bildad från Sua till orda och sade:

¹And Bildad the Shuhite answered and said,

²Huru länge skolen I gå på jakt efter ord? Kommen till förstånd; sedan må vi talas vid.

²How long will ye hunt for words? Be intelligent, and then we will speak.

³Varför skola vi aktas såsom oskäliga djur, räknas i edra ögon såsom ett förstockat folk?

³Wherefore are we counted as beasts, and reputed stupid in your sight?

⁴Du som i din vrede sliter sönder dig själv, menar du att dör din skull jorden skall bliva öde och klippan flyttas bort från sin plats?

⁴Thou that tearest thyself in thine anger, shall the earth be forsaken for thee? and shall the rock be removed out of its place?

⁵Nej, den ogudaktiges ljus skall slockna ut, och lågan av hans eld icke giva något sken.

⁵Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the flame of his fire shall not shine.

⁶Ljuset skall förmörkas i hans hydda, och lampan slockna ut för honom.

⁶The light shall become dark in his tent, and his lamp over him shall be put out.

⁷Hans väldiga steg skola stäckas, hans egna rådslag bringa honom på fall.

⁷The steps of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down.

⁸Ty han rusar med sina fötter in i nätet, försåten lura, där han vandrar fram;

⁸For he is sent into the net by his own feet, and he walketh on the meshes;

⁹snaran griper honom om hälen, och gillret tager honom fatt;

⁹The gin taketh [him] by the heel, the snare layeth hold on him;

¹⁰garn till att fånga honom äro lagda på marken och snärjande band på hans stig.

¹⁰A cord is hidden for him in the ground, and his trap in the way.

¹¹Från alla sidor ängsla honom förskräckelser, de jaga honom, varhelst han går fram.

¹¹Terrors make him afraid on every side, and chase him at his footsteps.

¹²Olyckan vill uppsluka honom, och ofärd står redo, honom till fall.

¹²His strength is hunger-bitten, and calamity is ready at his side.

¹³Under hans hud frätas hans lemmar bort, ja, av dödens förstfödde bortfrätas hans lemmar.

¹³The firstborn of death devoureth the members of his body; it will devour his members.

¹⁴Ur sin hydda, som han förtröstar på, ryckes han bort, och till förskräckelsernas konung vandrar han hän.

¹⁴His confidence shall be rooted out of his tent, and it shall lead him away to the king of terrors:

¹⁵I hans hydda får främlingar bo, och svavel utströs över hans boning.

¹⁵They who are none of his shall dwell in his tent; brimstone shall be showered upon his habitation:

¹⁶Nedantill förtorkas hans rötter, och ovantill vissnar hans krona bort.

¹⁶His roots shall be dried up beneath, and above shall his branch be cut off;

¹⁷Hans åminnelse förgås ifrån jorden, hans namn lever icke kvar i världen.

¹⁷His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name on the pasture-grounds.

¹⁸Från ljus stötes han ned i mörker och förjagas ifrån jordens krets.

¹⁸He is driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.

¹⁹Utan barn och avkomma bliver han i sitt folk, och ingen i hans boningar skall slippa undan.

¹⁹He hath neither son nor grandson among his people, nor any remaining in the places of his sojourn.

²⁰Över hans ofärdsdag häpna västerns folk, och österns män gripas av rysning.

²⁰They that come after shall be astonished at his day, as they that went before [them] were affrighted.

²¹Ja, så sker det med den orättfärdiges hem, så går det dens hus, som ej vill veta av Gud.

²¹Surely, such are the dwellings of the unrighteous man, and such the place of him that knoweth not ùGod.
