1Lova HERREN, min själ. HERRE, min Gud, du är hög och stor, i majestät och härlighet är du klädd.
1Bless Jehovah, O my soul! Jehovah my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with majesty and splendour;
2Du höljer dig i ljus såsom i en mantel, du spänner ut himmelen såsom ett tält;
2Covering thyself with light as with a garment, stretching out the heavens like a tent-curtain; --
3du timrar på vattnen dina salar, molnen gör du till din vagn, och du far fram på vindens vingar.
3Who layeth the beams of his upper chambers in the waters, who maketh clouds his chariot, who walketh upon the wings of the wind;
4Du gör vindar till dina sändebud, eldslågor till dina tjänare.
4Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flame of fire.
5Du grundade jorden på hennes fästen, så att hon icke vacklar till evig tid.
5He laid the earth upon its foundations: it shall not be removed for ever.
6Med djupet betäckte du henne såsom med en klädnad; uppöver bergen stodo vattnen.
6Thou hadst covered it with the deep, as with a vesture; the waters stood above the mountains:
7Men för din näpst flydde de; för ljudet av ditt dunder hastade de undan.
7At thy rebuke they fled, at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away; --
8Berg höjde sig, och dalar sänkte sig, på den plats som du hade bestämt för dem.
8The mountains rose, the valleys sank, unto the place which thou hadst founded for them; --
9En gräns satte du, som vattnen ej fingo överskrida, så att de icke åter skulle betäcka jorden.
9Thou hast set a bound which they may not pass over, that they turn not again to cover the earth.
10Du lät källor flyta fram i dalarna, mellan bergen togo de sin väg.
10He sendeth the springs into the valleys: they run among the mountains;
11De vattna alla markens djur, vildåsnorna släcka i dem sin törst.
11They give drink to every beast of the field; the wild asses quench their thirst.
12Vid dem bo himmelens fåglar, från trädens grenar höja de sin röst.
12The birds of heaven dwell by them; they give forth their voice from among the branches.
13Du vattnar bergen från dina salar, jorden mättas av den frukt du skapar.
13He watereth the mountains from his upper-chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.
14Du låter gräs skjuta upp för djuren och örter till människans tjänst. Så framalstrar du bröd ur jorden
14He maketh the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man; bringing forth bread out of the earth,
15och vin, som gläder människans hjärta; så gör du hennes ansikte glänsande av olja, och brödet styrker människans hjärta.
15And wine which gladdeneth the heart of man; making [his] face shine with oil; and with bread he strengtheneth man's heart.
16HERRENS träd varda ock mättade, Libanons cedrar, som han har planterat;
16The trees of Jehovah are satisfied, the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted,
17fåglarna bygga där sina nästen, hägern gör sitt bo i cypresserna.
17Where the birds make their nests; [as for] the stork, the fir trees are her house.
18Stenbockarna hava fått de höga bergen, klyftorna är klippdassarnas tillflykt.
18The high mountains are for the wild goats; the cliffs, a refuge for the rock-badgers.
19Du gjorde månen till att bestämma tiderna; solen vet stunden då den skall gå ned.
19He made the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth its going down.
20Du sänder mörker, och det bliver natt; då komma alla skogens djur i rörelse,
20Thou makest darkness, and it is night, wherein all the beasts of the forest creep forth:
21de unga lejonen ryta efter rov och begära sin föda av Gud.
21The young lions roar after the prey, and to seek their food from ùGod.
22Solen går upp; då draga de sig tillbaka och lägga sig ned i sina kulor.
22The sun ariseth, they retreat, and lay them down in their dens.
23Människan går då ut till sin gärning och till sitt arbete intill aftonen.
23Man goeth forth unto his work, and to his labour until the evening.
24Huru mångfaldiga äro icke dina verk, o HERRE! Med vishet har du gjort dem alla. Jorden är full av vad du har skapat.
24How manifold are thy works, O Jehovah! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.
25Se ock havet, det stora ock vida: ett tallöst vimmel rör sig däri, djur både stora och små.
25Yonder is the great and wide sea: therein are moving things innumerable, living creatures small and great.
26Där gå skeppen sin väg fram, Leviatan, som du har skapat att leka däri.
26There go the ships; [there] that leviathan, which thou hast formed to play therein.
27Alla vänta de efter dig, att du skall giva dem deras mat i rätt tid.
27These all look unto thee, that thou mayest give their food in its season:
28Du giver dem, då samla de in; du upplåter din hand, då varda de mättade med goda håvor.
28That thou givest unto them, they gather; thou openest thy hand, they are filled with good.
29Du fördöljer ditt ansikte, då förskräckas de; du tager bort deras ande, då förgås de och vända åter till sitt stoft igen.
29Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled; thou takest away their breath, they expire and return to their dust.
30Du sänder ut din ande, då varda de skapade, och du förnyar jordens anlete.
30Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created, and thou renewest the face of the earth.
31HERRENS ära förblive evinnerligen; må HERREN glädja sig över sina verk,
31The glory of Jehovah will endure for ever; Jehovah will rejoice in his works.
32han som skådar på jorden, och hon bävar, han som rör vid bergen, och de ryka.
32He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth; he toucheth the mountains, and they smoke.
33Jag vill sjunga till HERRENS ära, så länge jag lever; jag vill lovsjunga min Gud, så länge jag är till.
33I will sing unto Jehovah as long as I live; I will sing psalms to my God while I have my being.
34Mitt tal behage honom väl; må jag själv få glädja mig i HERREN.
34My meditation shall be pleasant unto him; I will rejoice in Jehovah.
35Men må syndare försvinna ifrån jorden och inga ogudaktiga mer vara till. Lova HERREN, min själ Halleluja!
35Sinners shall be consumed out of the earth, and the wicked shall be no more. Bless Jehovah, O my soul. Hallelujah!
