1ฝ่ายเอลียาห์ชาวทิชบีผู้ซึ่งตั้งอาศัยอยู่ในกิเลอาด ได้ทูลอาหับว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอลผู้ซึ่งข้าพระองค์ปฏิบัติทรงพระชนม์อยู่แน่ฉันใด จะไม่มีน้ำค้างหรือฝนในปีเหล่านี้ นอกจากตามคำของข้าพระองค์"
1Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the foreigners of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As Yahweh, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.”
2แล้วพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์มายังท่านว่า
2The word of Yahweh came to him, saying,
3"จงออกไปจากที่นี่และหันไปทางตะวันออก และซ่อนตัวอยู่ที่ข้างลำธารเครีท ซึ่งอยู่ฟากแม่น้ำจอร์แดนข้างนี้
3“Go away from here, turn eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, that is before the Jordan.
4เจ้าจะดื่มน้ำจากลำธาร และเราได้บัญชาให้กาเลี้ยงเจ้าที่นั่น"
4It shall be, that you shall drink of the brook. I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.”
5ท่านจึงไปและกระทำตามพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์ ท่านไปอาศัยอยู่ที่ข้างลำธารเครีท ซึ่งอยู่ฟากแม่น้ำจอร์แดนข้างนี้
5So he went and did according to the word of Yahweh; for he went and lived by the brook Cherith, that is before the Jordan.
6และกาก็นำขนมปังและเนื้อมาให้ท่านในเวลาเช้า และนำขนมปังและเนื้อมาในเวลาเย็น และท่านก็ดื่มน้ำจากลำธาร
6The ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.
7และต่อมาภายหลังลำธารก็แห้ง เพราะไม่มีฝนในแผ่นดิน
7It happened after a while, that the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land.
8และพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์มายังท่านว่า
8The word of Yahweh came to him, saying,
9"ลุกขึ้นไปยังเมืองศาเรฟัทเถิด ซึ่งขึ้นแก่เมืองไซดอน และอาศัยอยู่ที่นั่น ดูเถิด เราได้บัญชาหญิงม่ายคนหนึ่งที่นั่นให้เลี้ยงเจ้า"
9“Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and stay there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to sustain you.”
10ท่านจึงลุกขึ้นไปยังเมืองศาเรฟัท และเมื่อมาถึงประตูเมือง ดูเถิด หญิงม่ายคนหนึ่งที่นั่นกำลังเก็บฟืน ท่านจึงเรียกนางว่า "ขอน้ำเล็กน้อยใส่ภาชนะมาให้ฉัน เพื่อฉันจะได้ดื่มน้ำ"
10So he arose and went to Zarephath; and when he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks: and he called to her, and said, “Please get me a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.”
11และขณะเมื่อนางจะไปเอาน้ำมา ท่านก็เรียนางแล้วบอกว่า "ขอนำอาหารใส่มือมาให้ฉันสักหน่อยหนึ่ง"
11As she was going to get it, he called to her, and said, “Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.”
12และนางตอบว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านทรงพระชนม์อยู่แน่ฉันใด ดิฉันไม่มีอะไรที่ปิ้งเสร็จ มีแต่แป้งสักกำมือหนึ่งในหม้อ และน้ำมันเล็กน้อยที่ในไห ดูเถิด ดิฉันกำลังเก็บฟืนสองท่อนเพื่อจะเข้าไปทำสำหรับตัวดิฉันและบุตรชายของดิฉัน เพื่อเราจะได้กินแล้วก็จะตาย"
12She said, “As Yahweh your God lives, I don’t have a cake, but a handful of meal in the jar, and a little oil in the jar. Behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and bake it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”
13และเอลียาห์บอกนางว่า "อย่ากลัวเลย จงไปทำตามที่เจ้าพูด แต่จงทำขนมก้อนเล็กให้ฉันก่อน แล้วเอามาให้ฉัน ภายหลังจึงทำสำหรับตัวเจ้าและบุตรชายของเจ้า
13Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid. Go and do as you have said; but make me of it a little cake first, and bring it out to me, and afterward make some for you and for your son.
14เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของอิสราเอลตรัสดังนี้ว่า `แป้งในหม้อนั้นจะไม่หมดและน้ำมันในไหนั้นจะไม่ขาด จนกว่าจะถึงวันที่พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงส่งฝนลงมายังพื้นดิน'"
14For thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, ‘The jar of meal shall not empty, neither shall the jar of oil fail, until the day that Yahweh sends rain on the earth.’”
15นางก็ไปกระทำตามคำของเอลียาห์ แล้วนาง ตัวท่านและครอบครัวของนางก็รับประทานอยู่หลายวัน
15She went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, ate many days.
16แป้งในหม้อก็ไม่หมด น้ำมันในไหก็ไม่ขาด ตามพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์ซึ่งตรัสทางเอลียาห์
16The jar of meal didn’t empty, neither did the jar of oil fail, according to the word of Yahweh, which he spoke by Elijah.
17และอยู่มาภายหลังเหตุการณ์เหล่านี้ บุตรชายของหญิงคนนั้นผู้เป็นเจ้าของบ้านก็ล้มป่วย อาการป่วยนั้นก็สาหัส จนไม่มีลมหายใจเหลืออยู่แล้ว
17It happened after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so severe, that there was no breath left in him.
18นางจึงกล่าวแก่เอลียาห์ว่า "โอ คนของพระเจ้า เจ้าข้า ฉันมีเรื่องอะไรเกี่ยวข้องกับท่าน ท่านได้มาหาฉันเพื่อฟื้นให้ทรงระลึกถึงความผิดของฉัน และกระทำให้บุตรชายของฉันตายหรือ"
18She said to Elijah, “What have I to do with you, you man of God? You have come to me to bring my sin to memory, and to kill my son!”
19และท่านก็พูดกับนางว่า "เอาบุตรชายของเจ้ามาให้ฉันเถิด" ท่านก็นำเขาไปจากอกของนางอุ้มขึ้นไปที่ห้องชั้นบนที่ท่านอาศัยอยู่ และวางเขาไว้บนที่นอนของท่านเอง
19He said to her, “Give me your son.” He took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into the room where he stayed, and laid him on his own bed.
20และท่านร้องทูลพระเยโฮวาห์ว่า "ข้าแต่พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของข้าพระองค์ พระองค์ทรงนำเหตุร้ายมาจนกระทั่งหญิงม่ายนี้ที่ข้าพระองค์อาศัยอยู่ด้วยทีเดียวหรือ โดยที่ทรงประหารบุตรชายของนางเสีย"
20He cried to Yahweh, and said, “Yahweh my God, have you also brought evil on the widow with whom I stay, by killing her son?”
21แล้วท่านก็เหยียดตัวลงทับเด็กนั้นสามครั้ง และร้องทูลพระเยโฮวาห์ว่า "ข้าแต่พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของข้าพระองค์ ขอชีวิตของเด็กคนนี้มาเข้าในตัวเขาอีก"
21He stretched himself on the child three times, and cried to Yahweh, and said, “Yahweh my God, please let this child’s soul come into him again.”
22และพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงฟังเสียงของเอลียาห์ และชีวิตของเด็กนั้นมาเข้าในตัวเขาอีก และเขาก็ฟื้นขึ้น
22Yahweh listened to the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.
23และเอลียาห์ก็อุ้มเด็กนั้น นำลงมาจากห้องชั้นบนเข้าไปในเรือน และมอบเขาให้แก่มารดาของเด็ก และเอลียาห์บอกว่า "ดูซิ บุตรของเจ้ายังมีชีวิตอยู่"
23Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the room into the house, and delivered him to his mother; and Elijah said, “Behold, your son lives.”
24และหญิงนั้นพูดกับเอลียาห์ว่า "คราวนี้ดิฉันทราบแล้วว่า ท่านเป็นคนของพระเจ้า และพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์ซึ่งอยู่ในปากของท่านเป็นความจริง"
24The woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of Yahweh in your mouth is truth.”
