¹It happened after many days, that the word of Yahweh came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, “Go, show yourself to Ahab; and I will send rain on the earth.”

²เอลียาห์ก็ไปแสดงตัวต่ออาหับ การกันดารอาหารนั้นสาหัสมากในสะมาเรีย

²Elijah went to show himself to Ahab. The famine was severe in Samaria.

³และอาหับรับสั่งเรียกโอบาดีห์ผู้เป็นอธิบดีกรมวัง (ฝ่ายโอบาดีห์นั้นเกรงกลัวพระเยโฮวาห์ยิ่งนัก

³Ahab called Obadiah, who was over the household. (Now Obadiah feared Yahweh greatly:

⁴และเมื่อเยเซเบลขจัดผู้พยากรณ์ของพระเยโฮวาห์ออกไป โอบาดีห์ได้นำผู้พยากรณ์หนึ่งร้อยคนซ่อนไว้ตามถ้ำแห่งละห้าสิบคน และเลี้ยงเขาทั้งหลายด้วยขนมปังและน้ำ)

⁴for it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of Yahweh, that Obadiah took one hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.)

⁵และอาหับรับสั่งโอบาดีห์ว่า "จงไปให้ทั่วพื้นแผ่นดินไปหาธารน้ำพุ และไปให้ทั่วทุกลำธาร ชะรอยเราจะพบหญ้าและรักษาชีวิตม้าและล่อให้คงอยู่ได้ และไม่ต้องสูญเสียสัตว์ไปหมด"

⁵Ahab said to Obadiah, “Go through the land, to all the springs of water, and to all the brooks. Perhaps we may find grass and save the horses and mules alive, that we not lose all the animals.”

⁶ดังนั้นพวกเขาก็แบ่งดินแดนกันเพื่อจะออกไปค้น อาหับเสด็จไปทางหนึ่ง ฝ่ายโอบาดีห์ไปอีกทางหนึ่ง

⁶So they divided the land between them to pass throughout it: Ahab went one way by himself, and Obadiah went another way by himself.

⁷เมื่อโอบาดีห์กำลังไปตามทาง ดูเถิด เอลียาห์ได้พบเขา และโอบาดีห์ก็จำท่านได้จึงซบหน้าลงพูดว่า "เอลียาห์ เจ้านายของข้าพเจ้า เป็นตัวท่านเองจริงหรือ"

⁷As Obadiah was in the way, behold, Elijah met him: and he recognized him, and fell on his face, and said, “Is it you, my lord Elijah?”

⁸และท่านก็ตอบเขาว่า "ตัวฉันเอง จงไปบอกเจ้านายของท่านว่า `ดูเถิด เอลียาห์อยู่ที่นี่'"

⁸He answered him, “It is I. Go, tell your lord, ‘Behold, Elijah is here!’”

⁹และเขากล่าวว่า "ข้าพเจ้าได้กระทำผิดประการใด ท่านจึงจะมอบผู้รับใช้ของท่านไว้ในพระหัตถ์ของอาหับให้ประหารข้าพเจ้าเสีย

⁹He said, “Wherein have I sinned, that you would deliver your servant into the hand of Ahab, to kill me?

¹⁰พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านทรงพระชนม์อยู่แน่ฉันใด ไม่มีประชาชาติหรือราชอาณาจักรใด ที่เจ้านายของข้าพเจ้ามิได้ส่งคนไปเสาะหาท่าน และเมื่อเขาทั้งหลายกราบทูลว่า `เขาไม่อยู่ที่นี่ พระเจ้าข้า' พระองค์ก็ให้ประชาชาติหรือราชอาณาจักรปฏิญาณว่าเขาทั้งหลายมิได้พบท่าน

¹⁰As Yahweh your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom, where my lord has not sent to seek you. When they said, ‘He is not here,’ he took an oath of the kingdom and nation, that they didn’t find you.

¹¹และคราวนี้ท่านกล่าวว่า `จงไปบอกเจ้านายของท่านว่า "ดูเถิด เอลียาห์อยู่ที่นี่"'

¹¹Now you say, ‘Go, tell your lord, “Behold, Elijah is here.”’

¹²อยู่มาพอข้าพเจ้าไปจากท่านแล้ว พระวิญญาณของพระเยโฮวาห์จะมาพาท่านไป ณ ที่ใดข้าพเจ้าก็ไม่ทราบ ฉะนั้นเมื่อข้าพเจ้าไปทูลอาหับ และพระองค์หาท่านไม่พบ พระองค์ก็จะทรงประหารข้าพเจ้าเสีย ถึงแม้ว่าข้าพเจ้าผู้รับใช้ของท่านยำเกรงพระเยโฮวาห์ตั้งแต่หนุ่มๆมา

¹²It will happen, as soon as I am gone from you, that the Spirit of Yahweh will carry you I don’t know where; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he can’t find you, he will kill me. But I, your servant, have feared Yahweh from my youth.

¹³ไม่มีผู้ใดเรียนเจ้านายของข้าพเจ้าดอกหรือว่า ข้าพเจ้าได้กระทำสิ่งใดเมื่อเยเซเบลประหารผู้พยากรณ์ของพระเยโฮวาห์เสีย และข้าพเจ้าได้ซ่อนผู้พยากรณ์หนึ่งร้อยคนของพระเยโฮวาห์ไว้ตามถ้ำแห่งละห้าสิบคน และเลี้ยงเขาด้วยขนมปังและน้ำ

¹³Wasn’t it told my lord what I did when Jezebel killed the prophets of Yahweh, how I hid one hundred men of Yahweh’s prophets with fifty to a cave, and fed them with bread and water?

¹⁴และคราวนี้ท่านบอกว่า `จงไปบอกเจ้านายของท่านว่า "ดูเถิด เอลียาห์อยู่ที่นี่"' แล้วพระองค์จะทรงประหารข้าพเจ้าเสีย"

¹⁴Now you say, ‘Go, tell your lord, “Behold, Elijah is here”;’ and he will kill me.”

¹⁵และเอลียาห์กล่าวว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาผู้ซึ่งข้าพเจ้าปฏิบัติอยู่ทรงพระชนม์อยู่แน่ฉันใด ข้าพเจ้าจะแสดงตัวของข้าพเจ้าแก่อาหับในวันนี้แน่"

¹⁵Elijah said, “As Yahweh of Armies lives, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself to him today.”

¹⁶โอบาดีห์จึงไปเฝ้าอาหับและทูลพระองค์ อาหับก็เสด็จไปพบเอลียาห์

¹⁶So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him; and Ahab went to meet Elijah.

¹⁷และอยู่มาเมื่ออาหับทอดพระเนตรเห็นเอลียาห์ อาหับก็ตรัสกับท่านว่า "นี่ตัวเจ้าหรือ เจ้าผู้ทำความลำบากให้อิสราเอล"

¹⁷It happened, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said to him, “Is that you, you troubler of Israel?”

¹⁸และท่านจึงทูลว่า "ข้าพระองค์มิได้กระทำความลำบากแก่อิสราเอล แต่พระองค์ได้กระทำ และราชวงศ์บิดาของพระองค์ เพราะว่าพวกพระองค์ได้ทอดทิ้งพระบัญญัติของพระเยโฮวาห์ และติดตามพระบาอัล

¹⁸He answered, “I have not troubled Israel; but you, and your father’s house, in that you have forsaken the commandments of Yahweh, and you have followed the Baals.

¹⁹เพราะฉะนั้นบัดนี้ขอทรงสั่งให้บรรดาชนอิสราเอลมาพบข้าพระองค์ที่ภูเขาคารเมล ทั้งผู้พยากรณ์ของพระบาอัลสี่ร้อยห้าสิบคนนั้น และผู้พยากรณ์ของเสารูปเคารพสี่ร้อยคนนั้น ผู้ซึ่งรับประทานที่โต๊ะเสวยของพระนางเยเซเบล"

¹⁹Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel to Mount Carmel, and four hundred fifty of the prophets of Baal, and four hundred of the prophets of the Asherah, who eat at Jezebel’s table.”

²⁰อาหับจึงทรงส่งไปยังคนอิสราเอลทั้งปวง และชุมนุมผู้พยากรณ์ที่ภูเขาคารเมล

²⁰So Ahab sent to all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together to Mount Carmel.

²¹และเอลียาห์ก็เข้ามาใกล้ประชาชนทั้งปวงกล่าวว่า "ท่านทั้งหลายจะขยักขย่อนอยู่ระหว่างสองฝ่ายนี้นานสักเท่าใด ถ้าพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงเป็นพระเจ้าจงติดตามพระองค์ แต่ถ้าพระบาอัลเป็น ก็จงตามท่านไปเถิด" และประชาชนไม่ตอบท่านสักคำเดียว

²¹Elijah came near to all the people, and said, “How long will you waver between the two sides? If Yahweh is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.” The people answered him not a word.

²²แล้วเอลียาห์พูดกับประชาชนว่า "ตัวข้าพเจ้า คือข้าพเจ้าแต่ผู้เดียวเป็นผู้พยากรณ์ของพระเยโฮวาห์ที่เหลืออยู่ แต่ผู้พยากรณ์พระบาอัลมีสี่ร้อยห้าสิบคน

²²Then Elijah said to the people, “I, even I only, am left a prophet of Yahweh; but Baal’s prophets are four hundred fifty men.

²³ขอให้เขามอบวัวผู้แก่เราสองตัว แล้วขอให้เขาทั้งหลายเลือกวัวเป็นของเขาตัวหนึ่งฟันเป็นท่อนๆ วางไว้บนกองฟืนแต่อย่าใส่ไฟ และข้าพเจ้าจะเตรียมวัวผู้อีกตัวหนึ่งนั้นวางไว้บนฟืน และไม่ใส่ไฟ

²³Let them therefore give us two bulls; and let them choose one bull for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on the wood, and put no fire under; and I will dress the other bull, and lay it on the wood, and put no fire under it.

²⁴และท่านทั้งหลายจงร้องออกพระนามพระของท่าน และข้าพเจ้าจะร้องออกพระนามพระเยโฮวาห์ พระเจ้าองค์ที่ทรงตอบด้วยไฟ พระองค์นั้นแหละทรงเป็นพระเจ้า" และประชาชนทั้งปวงก็ตอบว่า "อย่างที่พูดก็ดีแล้ว"

²⁴You call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of Yahweh. The God who answers by fire, let him be God.” All the people answered, “It is well said.”

²⁵แล้วเอลียาห์พูดกับผู้พยากรณ์ของพระบาอัลว่า "จงเลือกวัวผู้ตัวหนึ่งสำหรับท่านและตระเตรียมเสียก่อน เพราะพวกท่านมากคนด้วยกัน จงร้องออกพระนามพระของท่าน แต่อย่าใส่ไฟ"

²⁵Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “Choose one bull for yourselves, and dress it first; for you are many; and call on the name of your god, but put no fire under it.”

²⁶เขาทั้งหลายก็เอาวัวผู้ที่เขานำมาให้และเขาทั้งหลายก็จัดเตรียมและร้องออกพระนามพระบาอัล ตั้งแต่เวลาเช้าจนเที่ยงกล่าวว่า "ข้าแต่พระบาอัล ขอสดับพวกข้าพเจ้าเถิด" แต่ก็ไม่มีเสียงและไม่มีใครตอบ และเขาก็โขยกเขยกอยู่รอบแท่นซึ่งเขาได้สร้างขึ้นนั้น

²⁶They took the bull which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any who answered. They leaped about the altar which was made.

²⁷ครั้นถึงเวลาเที่ยงเอลียาห์ก็เย้ยเขาทั้งหลายว่า "ร้องให้ดังๆซี เพราะท่านเป็นพระองค์หนึ่ง ท่านกำลังสนทนาอยู่ หรือท่านกำลังแอบซ่อนตัวอยู่ หรือท่านไปเที่ยว หรือชะรอยท่านกำลังหลับอยู่และจะต้องปลุก"

²⁷It happened at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, “Cry aloud; for he is a god. Either he is musing, or he has gone aside, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he sleeps and must be awakened.”

²⁸เขาทั้งหลายก็ร้องเสียงดัง และเชือดเฉือนตัวเองตามธรรมเนียมของเขาด้วยมีดและหลาว จนโลหิตไหลพุ่งออกมาตามตัว

²⁸They cried aloud, and cut themselves in their way with knives and lances, until the blood gushed out on them.

²⁹และต่อมาเมื่อผ่านเที่ยงวันไปแล้ว เขาก็ทำนายจนถึงเวลาถวายบูชาตอนเย็น แต่ไม่มีเสียง ไม่มีใครตอบ ไม่มีใครฟัง

²⁹It was so, when midday was past, that they prophesied until the time of the offering of the offering; but there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any who regarded.

³⁰แล้วเอลียาห์พูดกับประชาชนทั้งปวงว่า "จงเข้ามาใกล้ข้าพเจ้า" และประชาชนทั้งปวงก็เข้ามาใกล้ท่าน และท่านก็ซ่อมแท่นบูชาของพระเยโฮวาห์ที่ถูกทำลายลงนั้น

³⁰Elijah said to all the people, “Come near to me”; and all the people came near to him. He repaired the altar of Yahweh that was thrown down.

³¹เอลียาห์นำศิลาสิบสองก้อนมาตามจำนวนตระกูลของบุตรชายของยาโคบ ผู้ซึ่งพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์มาถึงว่า "อิสราเอลจะเป็นชื่อของเจ้า"

³¹Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of Yahweh came, saying, “Israel shall be your name.”

³²และท่านได้สร้างแท่นบูชาด้วยศิลานั้นในพระนามของพระเยโฮวาห์ และท่านได้ขุดร่องรอบแท่นใหญ่พอจุเมล็ดพืชได้สองถัง

³²With the stones he built an altar in the name of Yahweh. He made a trench around the altar, large enough to contain two measures of seed.

³³และท่านก็วางฟืนไว้เป็นระเบียบ และฟันวัวผู้นั้นเป็นท่อนๆ และวางไว้บนกองฟืน และท่านกล่าวว่า "จงเติมน้ำให้เต็มสี่ไห และเทลงบนเครื่องเผาบูชา และบนกองฟืน"

³³He put the wood in order, and cut the bull in pieces, and laid it on the wood. He said, “Fill four jars with water, and pour it on the burnt offering, and on the wood.”

³⁴และท่านกล่าวว่า "จงกระทำครั้งที่สอง" และเขาก็กระทำครั้งที่สอง และท่านกล่าวว่า "จงกระทำครั้งที่สาม" และเขาก็กระทำครั้งที่สาม

³⁴He said, “Do it a second time”; and they did it the second time. He said, “Do it a third time”; and they did it the third time.

³⁵และน้ำไหลรอบแท่นบูชา และท่านใส่น้ำเต็มร่อง

³⁵The water ran around the altar; and he also filled the trench with water.

³⁶และอยู่มาเมื่อถึงเวลาถวายบูชาตอนเย็น เอลียาห์ผู้พยากรณ์ก็เข้ามาใกล้ทูลว่า "ข้าแต่พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าแห่งอับราฮัม อิสอัคและอิสราเอล ขอให้ทราบเสียทั่วกันในวันนี้ว่า พระองค์คือพระเจ้าในอิสราเอล และข้าพระองค์เป็นผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์ และข้าพระองค์ได้กระทำบรรดาสิ่งเหล่านี้ตามพระดำรัสของพระองค์

³⁶It happened at the time of the offering of the offering, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, “Yahweh, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel, and that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things at your word.

³⁷ขอทรงฟังข้าพระองค์ ข้าแต่พระเยโฮวาห์ ขอทรงฟังข้าพระองค์ เพื่อชนชาตินี้จะทราบว่า พระองค์คือพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้า และพระองค์ทรงหันจิตใจของเขาทั้งหลายกลับมาอีก"

³⁷Hear me, Yahweh, hear me, that this people may know that you, Yahweh, are God, and that you have turned their heart back again.”

³⁸แล้วไฟของพระเยโฮวาห์ก็ตกลงมาและไหม้เครื่องเผาบูชา และฟืนและหิน และผงคลีและเลียน้ำซึ่งอยู่ในร่อง

³⁸Then the fire of Yahweh fell, and consumed the burnt offering, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.

³⁹และเมื่อประชาชนทั้งปวงได้เห็น เขาก็ซบหน้าลงและร้องว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์พระองค์ทรงเป็นพระเจ้า พระเยโฮวาห์พระองค์ทรงเป็นพระเจ้า"

³⁹When all the people saw it, they fell on their faces. They said, “Yahweh, he is God! Yahweh, he is God!”

⁴⁰และเอลียาห์บอกเขาว่า "จงจับผู้พยากรณ์ของพระบาอัล อย่าให้หนีไปได้สักคนเดียว" และเขาทั้งหลายก็ไปจับเขามา และเอลียาห์ก็นำเขาลงไปที่ลำธารคีโชนและฆ่าเขาเสียที่นั่น

⁴⁰Elijah said to them, “Seize the prophets of Baal! Don’t let one of them escape!” They seized them. Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and killed them there.

⁴¹เอลียาห์ทูลอาหับว่า "ขอเชิญเสด็จขึ้นไปเสวยและดื่มเถิด เพราะมีเสียงฝนกระหึ่มมา"

⁴¹Elijah said to Ahab, “Get up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of abundance of rain.”

⁴²อาหับก็เสด็จขึ้นไปเสวยและดื่ม และเอลียาห์ก็ขึ้นไปที่ยอดภูเขาคารเมล ท่านก็โน้มตัวลงถึงดิน ซบหน้าระหว่างเข่า

⁴²So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he bowed himself down on the earth, and put his face between his knees.

⁴³และท่านสั่งคนใช้ของท่านว่า "จงลุกขึ้นมองไปทางทะเล" เขาก็ลุกขึ้นมองและตอบว่า "ไม่มีอะไรเลย" และท่านบอกว่า "จงไปดูอีกเจ็ดครั้ง"

⁴³He said to his servant, “Go up now, look toward the sea.” He went up, and looked, and said, “There is nothing.” He said, “Go again” seven times.

⁴⁴และอยู่มาเมื่อถึงครั้งที่เจ็ดเขาบอกว่า "ดูเถิด มีเมฆก้อนหนึ่งเล็กเท่าฝ่ามือคนขึ้นมาจากทะเล" และท่านก็บอกว่า "จงไปทูลอาหับว่า `ขอทรงเตรียมราชรถและเสด็จลงไปเพื่อพระองค์จะไม่ติดฝน'"

⁴⁴It happened at the seventh time, that he said, “Behold, a small cloud, like a man’s hand, is rising out of the sea.” He said, “Go up, tell Ahab, ‘Get ready and go down, so that the rain doesn’t stop you.’”

⁴⁵และอยู่มาอีกครู่หนึ่งท้องฟ้าก็มืดไปด้วยเมฆและลม และมีฝนหนัก อาหับก็ทรงรถเสด็จไปยังเมืองยิสเรเอล

⁴⁵It happened in a little while, that the sky grew black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.

⁴⁶และพระหัตถ์ของพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงสถิตอยู่บนเอลียาห์ และท่านก็คาดเอวของท่านไว้ และวิ่งขึ้นหน้าอาหับไปถึงทางเข้าเมืองยิสเรเอล

⁴⁶The hand of Yahweh was on Elijah; and he tucked his cloak into his belt and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.
