¹อาหับจึงบอกเยเซเบลตามการทั้งสิ้นซึ่งเอลียาห์ได้กระทำ และเรื่องที่ท่านได้ฆ่าผู้พยากรณ์ทั้งหมดเสียด้วยดาบ

¹Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword.

²แล้วเยเซเบลก็รับสั่งให้ผู้สื่อสารไปหาเอลียาห์ว่า "ถ้าพรุ่งนี้เวลานี้ เรามิได้กระทำชีวิตของเจ้าให้เหมือนอย่างชีวิตของคนเหล่านั้นแล้ว ก็ให้พระทั้งหลายลงโทษเรา และยิ่งหนักกว่า"

²Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I don’t make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time!”

³เมื่อท่านทราบแล้วก็ลุกขึ้นหนีไปเอาชีวิตรอด และมาถึงเบเออร์เชบาเขตประเทศยูดาห์ และละคนใช้ของท่านไว้ที่นั่น

³When he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there.

⁴แต่ตัวท่านเองก็เดินเข้าถิ่นทุรกันดารไปเป็นระยะทางวันหนึ่งมานั่งอยู่ที่ใต้ต้นซาก และท่านทูลขอให้ตัวท่านตายเสียที ว่า "พอแล้วพระองค์เจ้าข้า ข้าแต่พระเยโฮวาห์ บัดนี้ขอเอาชีวิตของข้าพระองค์ไปเสีย เพราะข้าพระองค์ก็ไม่ดีไปกว่าบรรพบุรุษของข้าพระองค์"

⁴But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die, and said, “It is enough. Now, O Yahweh, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.”

⁵และท่านก็นอนลงหลับอยู่ใต้ต้นซาก ดูเถิด มีทูตสวรรค์องค์หนึ่งมาถูกต้องท่าน และพูดกับท่านว่า "ลุกขึ้นรับประทานซี"

⁵He lay down and slept under a juniper tree; and behold, an angel touched him, and said to him, “Arise and eat!”

⁶และท่านก็มองดู ดูเถิด ตรงที่ศีรษะของท่านมีขนมปังที่ปิ้งบนก้อนหินร้อนและมีไหน้ำลูกหนึ่ง ท่านก็รับประทานและดื่ม และนอนลงอีก

⁶He looked, and behold, there was at his head a cake baked on the coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank, and lay down again.

⁷และทูตสวรรค์ของพระเยโฮวาห์ก็มาอีกเป็นครั้งที่สอง ถูกต้องท่านแล้วว่า "ลุกขึ้นรับประทานซี เพราะว่าทางเดินนั้นเกินกำลังของท่าน"

⁷The angel of Yahweh came again the second time, and touched him, and said, “Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you.”

⁸และท่านก็ลุกขึ้นรับประทานและดื่ม และเดินไปด้วยกำลังของอาหารนั้นสี่สิบวันสี่สิบคืนถึงโฮเรบภูเขาของพระเจ้า

⁸He arose, and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb the Mount of God.

⁹ที่นั่นท่านมาถึงถ้ำแห่งหนึ่งก็เข้าพักอยู่ และดูเถิด พระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์มาถึงท่าน และพระองค์ตรัสกับท่านว่า "เอลียาห์เอ๋ย เจ้าทำอะไรอยู่ที่นี่"

⁹He came there to a cave, and lodged there; and behold, the word of Yahweh came to him, and he said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

¹⁰ท่านทูลว่า "ข้าพระองค์ร้อนรนเพื่อพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าจอมโยธายิ่งนัก เพราะประชาชนอิสราเอลได้ทอดทิ้งพันธสัญญาของพระองค์ พังแท่นบูชาของพระองค์ลงเสีย และประหารผู้พยากรณ์ของพระองค์เสียด้วยดาบ และข้าพระองค์ ข้าพระองค์แต่ผู้เดียวเหลืออยู่ และเขาทั้งหลายแสวงชีวิตของข้าพระองค์เพื่อจะเอาไปเสีย"

¹⁰He said, “I have been very jealous for Yahweh, the God of Armies; for the children of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and slain your prophets with the sword. I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.”

¹¹และพระองค์ตรัสว่า "จงออกไปเถิด ไปยืนอยู่บนภูเขาต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์" และดูเถิด พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงผ่านไป และลมใหญ่อันแรงกล้าได้พัดพังภูเขา และทำให้หินแตกเป็นก้อนๆต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์ แต่พระเยโฮวาห์มิได้สถิตในลมนั้น ภายหลังลมก็แผ่นดินไหว แต่พระเยโฮวาห์หาทรงสถิตในแผ่นดินไหวนั้นไม่

¹¹He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before Yahweh.” Behold, Yahweh passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains, and broke in pieces the rocks before Yahweh; but Yahweh was not in the wind. After the wind an earthquake; but Yahweh was not in the earthquake.

¹²ภายหลังแผ่นดินไหวก็เกิดไฟ แต่พระเยโฮวาห์หาทรงสถิตในไฟนั้นไม่ ภายหลังไฟก็มีเสียงเบาๆ

¹²After the earthquake a fire passed; but Yahweh was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

¹³และเมื่อเอลียาห์ได้ยิน ท่านก็เอาผ้าคลุมหน้าไว้ ออกไปยืนอยู่ที่ปากถ้ำ และดูเถิด มีเสียงมาถึงท่านว่า "เอลียาห์เอ๋ย เจ้าทำอะไรอยู่ที่นี่"

¹³It was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entrance of the cave. Behold, a voice came to him, and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

¹⁴ท่านทูลว่า "ข้าพระองค์ร้อนรนเพื่อพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าจอมโยธายิ่งนัก เพราะว่าประชาชนอิสราเอลได้ทอดทิ้งพันธสัญญาของพระองค์ พังแท่นบูชาของพระองค์ลงเสีย และประหารผู้พยากรณ์ของพระองค์เสียด้วยดาบ และข้าพระองค์ ข้าพระองค์แต่ผู้เดียวเหลืออยู่ และเขาทั้งหลายแสวงชีวิตของข้าพระองค์เพื่อจะเอาไปเสีย"

¹⁴He said, “I have been very jealous for Yahweh, the God of Armies; for the children of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and slain your prophets with the sword. I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.”

¹⁵และพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับท่านว่า "ไปเถอะ จงกลับไปตามทางของเจ้าถึงถิ่นทุรกันดารดามัสกัส และเมื่อเจ้าไปถึงแล้ว เจ้าจงเจิมฮาซาเอลไว้ให้เป็นกษัตริย์เหนือประเทศซีเรีย

¹⁵Yahweh said to him, “Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus. When you arrive, you shall anoint Hazael to be king over Syria.

¹⁶และเยฮูบุตรนิมซีนั้น เจ้าจงเจิมให้เป็นกษัตริย์เหนืออิสราเอล และเอลีชาบุตรชาฟัทชาวอาเบลเมโฮลาห์ เจ้าจงเจิมตั้งไว้ให้เป็นผู้พยากรณ์แทนเจ้า

¹⁶You shall anoint Jehu the son of Nimshi to be king over Israel; and you shall anoint Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel Meholah to be prophet in your place.

¹⁷และต่อมาผู้ที่รอดจากดาบของฮาซาเอล เยฮูจะฆ่าเสีย และผู้ที่รอดจากดาบของเยฮู เอลีชาจะฆ่าเสีย

¹⁷It shall happen, that he who escapes from the sword of Hazael, Jehu will kill; and he who escapes from the sword of Jehu, Elisha will kill.

¹⁸แต่เรายังมีเหลือเจ็ดพันคนไว้ในอิสราเอล คือทุกเข่าซึ่งมิได้น้อมลงต่อพระบาอัล และทุกปากซึ่งมิได้จุบรูปนั้น"

¹⁸Yet will I leave seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth which has not kissed him.”

¹⁹ท่านก็ออกไปจากที่นั่นพบเอลีชาบุตรชายชาฟัท ผู้กำลังไถนาอยู่ด้วยวัวสิบสองคู่เดินอยู่ข้างหน้าและท่านอยู่กับวัวคู่ที่สิบสอง เอลียาห์ก็ผ่านไปทิ้งเสื้อคลุมลงบนท่าน

¹⁹So he departed there, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing, with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed over to him, and cast his mantle on him.

²⁰ท่านก็ละวัวเหล่านั้นวิ่งตามเอลียาห์ไปและกล่าวว่า "ขอให้ข้าพเจ้าไปจุบลาบิดามารดาของข้าพเจ้าก่อน และข้าพเจ้าจะติดตามท่านไป" เอลียาห์จึงกล่าวกับเอลีชาว่า "กลับไปเถิด เพราะฉันได้ทำอะไรแก่ท่าน"

²⁰He left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, “Let me please kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you.” He said to him, “Go back again; for what have I done to you?”

²¹และเอลีชาก็กลับจากติดตามเอลียาห์จับวัวคู่นั้นฆ่าเสียเอาเครื่องแอกต้มเนื้อวัว และให้แก่ประชาชนและเขาก็รับประทาน แล้วเอลีชาก็ลุกขึ้นตามเอลียาห์ไปและปรนนิบัติท่าน

²¹He returned from following him, and took the yoke of oxen, and killed them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave to the people, and they ate. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and served him.
