¹Now it fell on a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man who bore his armor, “Come, and let us go over to the Philistines’ garrison, that is on the other side.” But he didn’t tell his father.

²ซาอูลทรงพักอยู่ที่ชานเมืองกิเบอาห์ใต้ต้นทับทิม ซึ่งอยู่ที่ตำบลมิโกรน พลซึ่งอยู่ด้วยมีประมาณหกร้อยคน

²Saul stayed in the uttermost part of Gibeah under the pomegranate tree which is in Migron: and the people who were with him were about six hundred men;

³กับอาหิยาห์บุตรชายอาหิทูบพี่ชายของอีคาโบด บุตรชายของฟีเนหัสผู้เป็นบุตรชายของเอลีปุโรหิตแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์ที่เมืองชีโลห์ เขาถือเอโฟดไป และพวกพลไม่ทราบว่าโยนาธานไปแล้ว

³and Ahijah, the son of Ahitub, Ichabod’s brother, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eli, the priest of Yahweh in Shiloh, wearing an ephod. The people didn’t know that Jonathan was gone.

⁴Between the passes, by which Jonathan sought to go over to the Philistines’ garrison, there was a rocky crag on the one side, and a rocky crag on the other side: and the name of the one was Bozez, and the name of the other Seneh.

⁵The one crag rose up on the north in front of Michmash, and the other on the south in front of Geba.

⁶Jonathan said to the young man who bore his armor, “Come, and let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised. It may be that Yahweh will work for us; for there is no restraint on Yahweh to save by many or by few.”

⁷ผู้ถือเครื่องอาวุธของท่านจึงตอบท่านว่า "จงกระทำทุกสิ่งที่จิตใจของท่านอยากกระทำ หันไปเถิด ดูเถิด ข้าพเจ้าอยู่กับท่าน ตามแต่จิตใจของท่านจะว่าอย่างไร"

⁷His armor bearer said to him, “Do all that is in your heart. Turn and, behold, I am with you according to your heart.”

⁸แล้วโยนาธานกล่าวว่า "ดูเถิด เราจะข้ามไปหาคนเหล่านั้น และจะสำแดงตัวของเราให้เขาเห็น

⁸Then Jonathan said, “Behold, we will pass over to the men, and we will reveal ourselves to them.

⁹If they say thus to us, ‘Wait until we come to you!’ then we will stand still in our place, and will not go up to them.

¹⁰But if they say this, ‘Come up to us!’ then we will go up; for Yahweh has delivered them into our hand. This shall be the sign to us.”

¹¹ทั้งสองจึงสำแดงตัวให้กองทหารรักษาการคนฟีลิสเตียเห็น และคนฟีลิสเตียกล่าวว่า "ดูเถิด พวกฮีบรูออกมาจากรูที่ซ่อนตัวอยู่แล้ว"

¹¹Both of them revealed themselves to the garrison of the Philistines: and the Philistines said, “Behold, the Hebrews are coming out of the holes where they had hidden themselves!”

¹²และคนที่กองทหารรักษาการจึงร้องบอกโยนาธานและผู้ถือเครื่องอาวุธของท่านว่า "จงขึ้นมาหาเรา แล้วเราจะแจ้งให้เจ้าทราบสักเรื่องหนึ่ง" และโยนาธานบอกผู้ถือเครื่องอาวุธของท่านว่า "จงตามข้าขึ้นมา เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ได้ทรงมอบเขาไว้ในมืออิสราเอลแล้ว"

¹²The men of the garrison answered Jonathan and his armor bearer, and said, “Come up to us, and we will show you something!” Jonathan said to his armor bearer, “Come up after me; for Yahweh has delivered them into the hand of Israel.”

¹³แล้วโยนาธานก็คลานขึ้นไปและผู้ถือเครื่องอาวุธของท่านก็ตามไปด้วย คนเหล่านั้นก็ล้มตายหน้าโยนาธาน และผู้ถือเครื่องอาวุธก็ฆ่าเขาทั้งหลายตามท่านไป

¹³Jonathan climbed up on his hands and on his feet, and his armor bearer after him: and they fell before Jonathan; and his armor bearer killed them after him.

¹⁴การฆ่าฟันครั้งแรกที่โยนาธานและผู้ถือเครื่องอาวุธของท่านได้กระทำนั้น มีประมาณยี่สิบคน อย่างในระยะทางครึ่งรอยไถในนาสักสองไร่

¹⁴That first slaughter, which Jonathan and his armor bearer made, was about twenty men, within as it were half a furrow’s length in an acre of land.

¹⁵และบังเกิดการสั่นสะท้านในค่าย ในทุ่งนาและในหมู่ประชาชนทั้งหมด กองทหารนั้นและถึงกองปล้นก็ตกใจตัวสั่น แผ่นดินได้ไหว กระทำให้เกิดการสั่นสะท้านมากยิ่งนัก

¹⁵There was a trembling in the camp, in the field, and among all the people; the garrison, and the spoilers, they also trembled; and the earth quaked: so there was an exceeding great trembling.

¹⁶The watchmen of Saul in Gibeah of Benjamin looked; and behold, the multitude melted away, and scattered.

¹⁷แล้วซาอูลจึงรับสั่งแก่พลที่อยู่กับท่านว่า "จงนับดูว่าผู้ใดได้ไปจากเราบ้าง" และเมื่อเขานับดูแล้ว ดูเถิด โยนาธานและผู้ถือเครื่องอาวุธของท่านไม่อยู่ที่นั่น

¹⁷Then Saul said to the people who were with him, “Count now, and see who is missing from us.” When they had counted, behold, Jonathan and his armor bearer were not there.

¹⁸Saul said to Ahijah, “Bring the ark of God here.” For the ark of God was with the children of Israel at that time.

¹⁹It happened, while Saul talked to the priest, that the tumult that was in the camp of the Philistines went on and increased: and Saul said to the priest, “Withdraw your hand!”

²⁰ซาอูลกับบรรดาพลที่อยู่ด้วยก็รวมกันเข้าไปทำศึก และดูเถิด ดาบของทุกคนก็ต่อสู้เพื่อนของตน มีความสับสนอลหม่านอย่างยิ่ง

²⁰Saul and all the people who were with him were gathered together, and came to the battle: and behold, every man’s sword was against his fellow: a very great confusion.

²¹ฝ่ายคนฮีบรูซึ่งเคยอยู่กับคนฟีลิสเตียก่อนเวลานั้น คือผู้ที่ไปอาศัยอยู่กับพวกเขาในค่ายจากชนบทรอบๆ เขาทั้งหลายกลับมาเข้ากับคนอิสราเอลผู้อยู่ฝ่ายซาอูลและโยนาธาน

²¹Now the Hebrews who were with the Philistines as before, and who went up with them into the camp, from all around, even they also turned to be with the Israelites who were with Saul and Jonathan.

²²ในทำนองเดียวกัน คนอิสราเอลทุกคนที่ซ่อนตัวอยู่ที่แดนเทือกเขาเอฟราอิม เมื่อได้ยินว่าคนฟีลิสเตียกำลังหนี พวกเหล่านี้ก็ไล่ติดตามเขาไปทำศึกด้วย

²²Likewise all the men of Israel who had hidden themselves in the hill country of Ephraim, when they heard that the Philistines fled, even they also followed hard after them in the battle.

²³พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงช่วยอิสราเอลให้พ้นในวันนั้น และสงครามก็ผ่านตลอดเมืองเบธาเวนเลยไป

²³So Yahweh saved Israel that day: and the battle passed over by Beth Aven.

²⁴และคนอิสราเอลต้องทุกข์ยากในวันนั้น เพราะซาอูลได้ทรงให้ประชาชนปฏิญาณไว้ว่า "ถ้าผู้ใดรับประทานอาหารก่อนเวลาเย็นวันนี้ ก่อนเราแก้แค้นศัตรูแล้ว ให้ผู้นั้นถูกสาปแช่ง" เพราะฉะนั้นพวกพลจึงไม่รับประทานอาหารเลย

²⁴The men of Israel were distressed that day; for Saul had adjured the people, saying, “Cursed is the man who eats any food until it is evening, and I am avenged of my enemies.” So none of the people tasted food.

²⁵และชาวแผ่นดินทุกคนก็เข้ามาในป่า มีน้ำผึ้งอยู่ตามพื้นทุ่ง

²⁵All the people came into the forest; and there was honey on the ground.

²⁶เมื่อประชาชนเข้าไปในป่านั้น ดูเถิด น้ำผึ้งก็กำลังย้อยอยู่ แต่ไม่มีคนใดเอามือใส่ปาก เพราะเขากลัวคำปฏิญาณ

²⁶When the people had come to the forest, behold, the honey dropped: but no man put his hand to his mouth; for the people feared the oath.

²⁷แต่โยนาธานไม่ได้ยินคำปฏิญาณของพระราชบิดาที่ทรงให้ประชาชนปฏิญาณ จึงเอาปลายไม้ที่ถืออยู่แหย่ที่รังผึ้ง แล้วก็เอามือของท่านใส่ปาก ตาก็แจ่มใสขึ้น

²⁷But Jonathan didn’t hear when his father commanded the people with the oath: therefore he put forth the end of the rod who was in his hand, and dipped it in the honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth; and his eyes were enlightened.

²⁸มีชายคนหนึ่งเรียนว่า "พระราชบิดาของท่านบังคับให้พวกพลปฏิญาณว่า `ผู้ใดที่รับประทานอาหารในวันนี้ให้ผู้นั้นถูกสาปแช่ง'" และพวกพลก็อ่อนเพลีย

²⁸Then one of the people answered, and said, “Your father directly commanded the people with an oath, saying, ‘Cursed is the man who eats food this day.’” The people were faint.

²⁹แล้วโยนาธานจึงกล่าวว่า "บิดาของข้ากระทำให้แผ่นดินลำบาก ดูซิว่าตาของข้าแจ่มแจ้งเพียงไร เพราะข้าได้รับประทานน้ำผึ้งนี้แต่เล็กน้อย

²⁹Then Jonathan said, “My father has troubled the land. Please look how my eyes have been enlightened, because I tasted a little of this honey.

³⁰ถ้าวันนี้พวกพลได้กินของที่ริบมาจากศัตรูซึ่งเขาหามาได้อย่างอิ่มหนำจะดีกว่านี้สักเท่าใด เพราะขณะนี้การฆ่าฟันคนฟีลิสเตียก็จะมากกว่ามิใช่หรือ"

³⁰How much more, if perhaps the people had eaten freely today of the spoil of their enemies which they found? For now has there been no great slaughter among the Philistines.”

³¹ในวันนั้นเขาทั้งหลายฆ่าฟันคนฟีลิสเตียจากมิคมาชถึงอัยยาโลน และพวกพลก็อ่อนเพลียนัก

³¹They struck of the Philistines that day from Michmash to Aijalon. The people were very faint;

³²และพวกพลก็วิ่งเข้าหาของที่ริบได้ เอาแกะและวัวและลูกวัวมาฆ่าเสีย ณ ที่นั้นเอง และพวกพลก็กินเนื้อพร้อมกับเลือด

³²and the people flew on the spoil, and took sheep, and cattle, and calves, and killed them on the ground; and the people ate them with the blood.

³³แล้วเขาก็ไปทูลซาอูลว่า "ดูเถิด พวกพลกำลังทำบาปต่อพระเยโฮวาห์ โดยรับประทานพร้อมกับเลือด" และซาอูลจึงรับสั่งว่า "พวกเจ้าได้ละเมิดแล้ว จงกลิ้งก้อนหินใหญ่มาให้เราวันนี้"

³³Then they told Saul, saying, “Behold, the people are sinning against Yahweh, in that they eat meat with the blood.” He said, “You have dealt treacherously. Roll a large stone to me this day!”

³⁴และซาอูลตรัสว่า "ท่านจงกระจัดกระจายกันไปท่ามกลางพวกพลและบอกเขาว่า `ให้ทุกคนนำวัวหรือแกะของตัวมาฆ่าเสียที่นี่แล้วรับประทาน อย่ากระทำบาปต่อพระเยโฮวาห์ด้วยรับประทานพร้อมกับเลือด'" คืนนั้นทุกคนก็นำวัวมาและฆ่าเสียที่นั่น

³⁴Saul said, “Disperse yourselves among the people, and tell them, ‘Bring me here every man his ox, and every man his sheep, and kill them here, and eat; and don’t sin against Yahweh in eating meat with the blood.’” All the people brought every man his ox with him that night, and killed them there.

³⁵และซาอูลก็สร้างแท่นบูชาถวายแด่พระเยโฮวาห์ เป็นแท่นบูชาแท่นแรกซึ่งพระองค์สร้างถวายแด่พระเยโฮวาห์

³⁵Saul built an altar to Yahweh. This was the first altar that he built to Yahweh.

³⁶แล้วซาอูลรับสั่งว่า "ให้เราลงไปตามคนฟีลิสเตียทั้งกลางคืน แล้วริบข้าวของของเขาเสียจนรุ่งเช้า อย่าให้เหลือสักคนเดียวเลย" และเขาทั้งหลายตอบว่า "จงกระทำตามที่พระองค์ทรงเห็นชอบทุกประการเถิด" แต่ปุโรหิตกล่าวว่า "ให้เราเข้ามาเฝ้าพระเจ้าที่นี่เถิด"

³⁶Saul said, “Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and take spoil among them until the morning light, and let us not leave a man of them.” They said, “Do whatever seems good to you.” Then the priest said, “Let us draw near here to God.”

³⁷และซาอูลก็ทูลถามพระเจ้าว่า "สมควรที่ข้าพระองค์จะติดตามคนฟีลิสเตียหรือไม่ พระองค์จะทรงมอบเขาทั้งหลายไว้ในมือของอิสราเอลหรือ" แต่ในวันนั้นพระองค์มิได้ทรงตอบท่าน

³⁷Saul asked counsel of God, “Shall I go down after the Philistines? Will you deliver them into the hand of Israel?” But he didn’t answer him that day.

³⁸และซาอูลจึงตรัสว่า "มาที่นี่เถิด ท่านทั้งหลายที่เป็นประมุขของคนอิสราเอลพึงทราบและเห็นว่าบาปนี้ได้เกิดขึ้นอย่างไรในวันนี้

³⁸Saul said, “Draw near here, all you chiefs of the people; and know and see in which this sin has been this day.

³⁹เพราะว่าพระเยโฮวาห์ผู้ทรงช่วยอิสราเอล ทรงพระชนม์อยู่แน่ฉันใด แม้ความผิดนั้นอยู่ที่โยนาธานบุตรชายของข้า เขาก็จะต้องตายเป็นแน่ฉันนั้น" แต่ไม่มีชายสักคนหนึ่งที่อยู่ในหมู่ประชาชนทั้งหมดนั้นตอบพระองค์

³⁹For, as Yahweh lives, who saves Israel, though it is in Jonathan my son, he shall surely die.” But there was not a man among all the people who answered him.

⁴⁰แล้วพระองค์จึงตรัสกับอิสราเอลทั้งปวงว่า "พวกท่านทั้งหลายอยู่ฝ่ายหนึ่ง เราและโยนาธานบุตรชายของเราจะอยู่อีกฝ่ายหนึ่ง" และประชาชนทูลซาอูลว่า "ขอจงกระทำตามที่พระองค์ทรงเห็นชอบเถิด"

⁴⁰Then he said to all Israel, “You be on one side, and I and Jonathan my son will be on the other side.” The people said to Saul, “Do what seems good to you.”

⁴¹ดังนั้นซาอูลจึงทูลพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอลว่า "ขอทรงสำแดงฝ่ายถูก" ข้างฝ่ายซาอูลและโยนาธานถูกสลาก แต่ฝ่ายประชาชนรอดไป

⁴¹Therefore Saul said to Yahweh, the God of Israel, “Show the right.” Jonathan and Saul were chosen; but the people escaped.

⁴²แล้วซาอูลรับสั่งว่า "จับสลากระหว่างเรากับโยนาธานบุตรชายของเรา" และโยนาธานถูกสลาก

⁴²Saul said, “Cast lots between me and Jonathan my son.” Jonathan was selected.

⁴³แล้วซาอูลจึงตรัสกับโยนาธานว่า "เจ้าได้กระทำอะไร จงบอกเรามา" โยนาธานก็ทูลว่า "ข้าพระองค์ได้ชิมน้ำผึ้งที่ติดปลายไม้เท้าซึ่งอยู่ในมือของข้าพระองค์เล็กน้อยเท่านั้น และดูเถิด ข้าพระองค์ต้องตาย"

⁴³Then Saul said to Jonathan, “Tell me what you have done!” Jonathan told him, and said, “I certainly did taste a little honey with the end of the rod that was in my hand; and behold, I must die.”

⁴⁴และซาอูลตรัสว่า "ขอพระเจ้าทรงลงโทษและยิ่งหนักกว่า โยนาธาน เจ้าจะต้องตายแน่"

⁴⁴Saul said, “God do so and more also; for you shall surely die, Jonathan.”

⁴⁵แล้วประชาชนจึงทูลซาอูลว่า "โยนาธานควรจะถึงตายหรือ เขาเป็นผู้ที่ได้นำให้มีชัยใหญ่ยิ่งนี้ในอิสราเอล ขอพระเจ้าอย่ายอมให้เป็นเช่นนั้นเลย พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงพระชนม์อยู่แน่ฉันใด เส้นผมของท่านสักเส้นหนึ่งจะไม่ตกถึงดินฉันนั้น เพราะในวันนี้ท่านได้กระทำศึกด้วยกันกับพระเจ้า" ประชาชนไถ่โยนาธานไว้ ท่านจึงไม่ถึงตาย

⁴⁵The people said to Saul, “Shall Jonathan die, who has worked this great salvation in Israel? Far from it! As Yahweh lives, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground; for he has worked with God this day!” So the people rescued Jonathan, that he didn’t die.

⁴⁶แล้วซาอูลก็เลิกทัพไม่ติดตามคนฟีลิสเตีย และคนฟีลิสเตียกลับไปยังที่อยู่ของตน

⁴⁶Then Saul went up from following the Philistines; and the Philistines went to their own place.

⁴⁷เมื่อซาอูลได้รับตำแหน่งกษัตริย์เหนืออิสราเอลนั้น พระองค์ได้ทรงต่อสู้บรรดาศัตรูทุกด้าน ต่อสู้กับโมอับ กับชนอัมโมน กับเอโดม กับบรรดากษัตริย์แห่งโศบาห์ และกับคนฟีลิสเตีย ไม่ว่าพระองค์จะหันไปทางไหน พระองค์ก็ทรงกระทำให้เขาพ่ายแพ้ไป

⁴⁷Now when Saul had taken the kingdom over Israel, he fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines: and wherever he turned himself, he defeated them.

⁴⁸พระองค์ทรงรวบรวมกองทัพ และทรงโจมตีพวกอามาเลข และทรงช่วยคนอิสราเอลให้พ้นจากมือของบรรดาผู้ที่เข้าปล้นเขา

⁴⁸He did valiantly, and struck the Amalekites, and delivered Israel out of the hands of those who despoiled them.

⁴⁹ฝ่ายโอรสของซาอูล มีโยนาธาน อิชวี มัลคีชูวา และชื่อธิดาทั้งสองของพระองค์คือ คนหัวปีชื่อเมราบ และชื่อผู้น้องคือมีคาล

⁴⁹Now the sons of Saul were Jonathan, and Ishvi, and Malchishua; and the names of his two daughters were these: the name of the firstborn Merab, and the name of the younger Michal:

⁵⁰and the name of Saul’s wife was Ahinoam the daughter of Ahimaaz. The name of the captain of his army was Abner the son of Ner, Saul’s uncle.

⁵¹คีชเป็นบิดาของซาอูล และเนอร์ผู้เป็นบิดาของอับเนอร์ เป็นบุตรชายของอาบีเอล

⁵¹Kish was the father of Saul; and Ner the father of Abner was the son of Abiel.

⁵²ตลอดรัชกาลของซาอูลมีสงครามอย่างรุนแรงกับคนฟีลิสเตียอยู่เสมอ เมื่อซาอูลทรงเห็นผู้ใดเป็นคนแข็งแรงหรือเป็นคนแกล้วกล้า ก็ทรงนำมาไว้ใช้ใกล้พระองค์

⁵²There was severe war against the Philistines all the days of Saul: and when Saul saw any mighty man, or any valiant man, he took him to him.
