1คนฟีลิสเตียยึดหีบแห่งพระเจ้าและนำไปจากเอเบนเอเซอร์ถึงเมืองอัชโดด
1Now the Philistines had taken the ark of God, and they brought it from Ebenezer to Ashdod.
2เมื่อคนฟีลิสเตียยึดหีบแห่งพระเจ้าไปนั้น เขานำเข้าไปไว้ในนิเวศของพระดาโกน และวางไว้ข้างพระดาโกน
2The Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon.
3และเมื่อประชาชนชาวอัชโดดตื่นเช้าในวันรุ่งขึ้น ดูเถิด พระดาโกนได้ล้มหน้าคว่ำลงมายังพื้นดินตรงหน้าหีบแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์ เขาทั้งหลายจึงยกพระดาโกนขึ้นตั้งไว้ในที่เดิม
3When they of Ashdod arose early on the next day, behold, Dagon was fallen on his face to the ground before the ark of Yahweh. They took Dagon, and set him in his place again.
4แต่เมื่อเขาทั้งหลายตื่นเช้าในวันรุ่งขึ้น ดูเถิด พระดาโกนก็ล้มหน้าคว่ำลงมายังพื้นดินตรงหน้าหีบแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์ เศียรของพระดาโกนและฝ่ามือทั้งสองก็ถูกตัดออกอยู่ที่ธรณีประตู เหลืออยู่แต่ลำตัวพระดาโกน
4When they arose early on the next day morning, behold, Dagon was fallen on his face to the ground before the ark of Yahweh; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off on the threshold. Only Dagon’s torso was intact.
5เพราะเหตุนี้เองปุโรหิตของพระดาโกนและผู้ที่เข้าไปในนิเวศของพระดาโกน จึงไม่เหยียบธรณีประตูนิเวศพระดาโกนที่เมืองอัชโดดจนถึงทุกวันนี้
5Therefore neither the priests of Dagon, nor any who come into Dagon’s house, tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod, to this day.
6พระหัตถ์ของพระเยโฮวาห์อยู่เหนือประชาชนอัชโดดอย่างหนัก พระองค์ทรงทำลายเขาและทรงเฆี่ยนเขาด้วยริดสีดวงทวารขั้นรุนแรง ทั้งชาวอัชโดดและเขตแดนของชาวเมืองนั้น
6But the hand of Yahweh was heavy on them of Ashdod, and he destroyed them, and struck them with tumors, even Ashdod and its borders.
7และเมื่อชาวเมืองอัชโดดเห็นอย่างนั้น เขาทั้งหลายกล่าวว่า "อย่าให้หีบแห่งพระเจ้าของอิสราเอลอยู่กับเราเลย เพราะว่าพระหัตถ์ของพระองค์อยู่เหนือเรา และเหนือพระดาโกนพระของเราอย่างหนัก"
7When the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, “The ark of the God of Israel shall not stay with us; for his hand is severe on us, and on Dagon our god.”
8เขาจึงใช้คนไปเรียกประชุมเจ้านายทั้งสิ้นของฟีลิสเตีย และกล่าวว่า "เราจะกระทำอะไรกับหีบแห่งพระเจ้าของอิสราเอลดี" เขาทั้งหลายตอบว่า "ให้เรานำหีบแห่งพระเจ้าของอิสราเอลอ้อมไปยังเมืองกัท" เพราะฉะนั้นเขาจึงนำหีบแห่งพระเจ้าของอิสราเอลไปที่นั่น
8They sent therefore and gathered all the lords of the Philistines to them, and said, “What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel?” They answered, “Let the ark of the God of Israel be carried over to Gath.” They carried the ark of the God of Israel there.
9แต่เมื่อเขาทั้งหลายนำหีบอ้อมไปเมืองนั้นแล้ว พระหัตถ์ของพระเยโฮวาห์ก็ต่อสู้เมืองนั้นกระทำให้เกิดการทำลายอย่างหนัก และทรงเฆี่ยนชาวเมืองนั้นทั้งเด็กและผู้ใหญ่ คือให้เกิดริดสีดวงทวารขั้นรุนแรงขึ้นที่ส่วนลับของเขาทั้งหลาย
9It was so, that after they had carried it about, the hand of Yahweh was against the city with a very great confusion: and he struck the men of the city, both small and great; and tumors broke out on them.
10เขาจึงส่งหีบแห่งพระเจ้าไปยังเมืองเอโครน และอยู่มาเมื่อหีบแห่งพระเจ้ามาถึงเมืองเอโครน ชาวเมืองเอโครนร้องว่า "เขาได้นำหีบแห่งพระเจ้าของอิสราเอลมาให้เรา เพื่อจะฆ่าเราและประชาชนของเราเสีย"
10So they sent the ark of God to Ekron. It happened, as the ark of God came to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying, “They have brought about the ark of the God of Israel to us, to kill us and our people.”
11เพราะฉะนั้นเขาจึงส่งคนไปให้เรียกประชุมเจ้านายทั้งหมดของคนฟีลิสเตีย และกล่าวว่า "จงส่งหีบแห่งพระเจ้าของอิสราเอลไปเสียให้หีบนั้นกลับไปยังที่เดิม เพื่อหีบนั้นจะไม่ได้ฆ่าเราหรือประชาชนของเราเสีย" เพราะว่ามีการทำลายอย่างน่ากลัวตายแพร่ไปทั่วเมืองนั้น พระหัตถ์ของพระเจ้าก็อยู่ที่นั่นอย่างหนัก
11They sent therefore and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and they said, “Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go again to its own place, that it not kill us and our people.” For there was a deadly confusion throughout all the city; the hand of God was very heavy there.
12คนที่ไม่ตายก็เป็นริดสีดวงทวารขั้นรุนแรง และเสียงร้องของชาวเมืองนั้นก็ขึ้นไปยังฟ้าสวรรค์
12The men who didn’t die were struck with the tumors; and the cry of the city went up to heaven.
