¹หีบแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์อยู่ในถิ่นคนฟีลิสเตียเจ็ดเดือน

¹The ark of Yahweh was in the country of the Philistines seven months.

²คนฟีลิสเตียก็เชิญพวกปุโรหิตและพวกโหรมา กล่าวว่า "เราจะกระทำอย่างไรกับหีบแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์ดี ขอบอกเราว่าจะส่งหีบไปยังที่เดิมด้วยอะไรดี"

²The Philistines called for the priests and the diviners, saying, “What shall we do with the ark of Yahweh? Show us with which we shall send it to its place.”

³เขาทั้งหลายตอบว่า "ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายจะส่งหีบแห่งพระเจ้าของอิสราเอลไป ก็อย่าส่งไปเปล่า ถึงอย่างไรก็ขอส่งเครื่องบูชาไถ่การละเมิดไปด้วย แล้วท่านทั้งหลายจะหายโรค และท่านทั้งหลายจะทราบด้วยว่า เหตุใดพระหัตถ์นี้จึงไม่หันไปเสียจากท่าน"

³They said, “If you send away the ark of the God of Israel, don’t send it empty; but by all means return him a trespass offering: then you shall be healed, and it shall be known to you why his hand is not removed from you.”

⁴และเขากล่าวว่า "จัดอะไรเป็นเครื่องบูชาไถ่การละเมิดเล่า ที่เราจะต้องถวายให้พระองค์" เขาทั้งหลายตอบว่า "ลูกริดสีดวงทวารขั้นรุนแรงทองคำห้าลูกกับหนูทองคำห้าตัว ตามจำนวนเจ้านายแห่งคนฟีลิสเตีย เพราะว่าโรคอย่างเดียวกันนั้นติดต่อท่านทั้งหลายและเจ้านายด้วย

⁴Then they said, “What shall be the trespass offering which we shall return to him?” They said, “Five golden tumors, and five golden mice, for the number of the lords of the Philistines; for one plague was on you all, and on your lords.

⁵เพราะฉะนั้นท่านต้องทำรูปริดสีดวงทวารขั้นรุนแรงของท่านและรูปหนูของท่านซึ่งทำลายแผ่นดิน และท่านทั้งหลายจงถวายสง่าราศีแด่พระเจ้าของอิสราเอล ชะรอยพระองค์จะทรงเบาพระหัตถ์ของพระองค์จากท่านทั้งหลาย ทั้งจากพระของท่านและแผ่นดินของท่าน

⁵Therefore you shall make images of your tumors, and images of your mice that mar the land; and you shall give glory to the God of Israel: perhaps he will lighten his hand from off you, and from off your gods, and from off your land.

⁶ทำไมท่านจึงกระทำให้จิตใจของท่านแข็งกระด้างไปอย่างที่ชาวอียิปต์และฟาโรห์ได้กระทำจิตใจของเขาให้แข็งกระด้างนั้น เมื่อพระองค์ทรงกระทำเหตุการณ์สู้เขาทั้งหลายแล้ว เขาทั้งหลายก็ต้องปล่อยให้ประชาชนไปมิใช่หรือ แล้วเขาทั้งหลายก็จากไป

⁶Why then do you harden your hearts, as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? When he had worked wonderfully among them, didn’t they let the people go, and they departed?

⁷บัดนี้จงเตรียมเกวียนใหม่เล่มหนึ่งมาเทียมเข้ากับแม่วัวคู่หนึ่งซึ่งยังไม่เคยเข้าเทียมแอกเลย จงเอาแม่วัวมาเทียมเกวียนแล้วพรากลูกๆของมันกลับไปบ้านเสียให้พ้นจากมัน

⁷“Now therefore take and prepare yourselves a new cart, and two milk cows, on which there has come no yoke; and tie the cows to the cart, and bring their calves home from them;

⁸จงนำหีบแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์มาวางไว้บนเกวียน และวางเครื่องทองคำซึ่งท่านทั้งหลายถวายให้พระองค์เป็นเครื่องบูชาไถ่การละเมิดไว้ในหีบข้างๆ แล้วก็ปล่อยให้มันไป

⁸and take the ark of Yahweh, and lay it on the cart; and put the jewels of gold, which you return him for a trespass offering, in a coffer by its side; and send it away, that it may go.

⁹และคอยดู ถ้าไปตามทางถึงแผ่นดินของมันเอง คือทางไปเมืองเบธเชเมช พระองค์ก็เป็นผู้ทรงให้เกิดความชั่วร้ายอย่างใหญ่หลวงนี้แก่เรา ถ้าไม่เช่นนั้น เราจะได้ทราบว่าไม่ใช่พระหัตถ์ของพระองค์ที่กระทำต่อเรา เป็นโอกาสที่บังเอิญเกิดขึ้นแก่เราเอง"

⁹Behold; if it goes up by the way of its own border to Beth Shemesh, then he has done us this great evil: but if not, then we shall know that it is not his hand that struck us; it was a chance that happened to us.”

¹⁰คนเหล่านั้นก็กระทำตาม นำเอาแม่วัวคู่หนึ่งเทียมเข้ากับเกวียน แล้วขังลูกๆของมันไว้ที่บ้าน

¹⁰The men did so, and took two milk cows, and tied them to the cart, and shut up their calves at home;

¹¹และเขาก็วางหีบแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์ไว้บนเกวียนพร้อมกับหีบหนูทองคำและรูปริดสีดวงทวารขั้นรุนแรงของเขา

¹¹and they put the ark of Yahweh on the cart, and the coffer with the mice of gold and the images of their tumors.

¹²แม่วัวก็เดินตรงไปตามทางที่ไปเมืองเบธเชเมช ไปตามทางหลวง เดินพลางร้องพลางไม่เลี้ยวขวาหรือเลี้ยวซ้าย และบรรดาเจ้านายแห่งคนฟีลิสเตียก็ตามมันไปจนถึงพรมแดนเมืองเบธเชเมช

¹²The cows took the straight way by the way to Beth Shemesh; they went along the highway, lowing as they went, and didn’t turn aside to the right hand or to the left; and the lords of the Philistines went after them to the border of Beth Shemesh.

¹³ฝ่ายชาวเมืองเบธเชเมชกำลังเกี่ยวข้าวสาลีอยู่ที่หุบเขา และเมื่อเขาเงยหน้าขึ้นและเห็นหีบ เขาก็ชื่นชมยินดีที่ได้เห็น

¹³They of Beth Shemesh were reaping their wheat harvest in the valley; and they lifted up their eyes, and saw the ark, and rejoiced to see it.

¹⁴เกวียนนั้นได้เข้ามาในนาของโยชูวาชาวเบธเชเมชและหยุดอยู่ที่นั่น มีหินใหญ่ก้อนหนึ่งอยู่ที่นั่น เขาจึงผ่าไม้เกวียนเป็นฟืน และเอาแม่วัวเป็นเครื่องเผาบูชาถวายแด่พระเยโฮวาห์

¹⁴The cart came into the field of Joshua of Beth Shemesh, and stood there, where there was a great stone: and they split the wood of the cart, and offered up the cows for a burnt offering to Yahweh.

¹⁵และคนเลวีก็เชิญหีบแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์ลง และหีบที่อยู่ข้างๆซึ่งมีเครื่องทองคำ วางไว้บนก้อนหินใหญ่นั้น และชาวเบธเชเมชก็ถวายเครื่องเผาบูชาและถวายเครื่องสัตวบูชาแด่พระเยโฮวาห์ในวันนั้น

¹⁵The Levites took down the ark of Yahweh, and the coffer that was with it, in which the jewels of gold were, and put them on the great stone: and the men of Beth Shemesh offered burnt offerings and sacrificed sacrifices the same day to Yahweh.

¹⁶และเมื่อเจ้านายทั้งห้าของคนฟีลิสเตียได้เห็นแล้วเขาก็กลับไปยังเมืองเอโครนในวันนั้น

¹⁶When the five lords of the Philistines had seen it, they returned to Ekron the same day.

¹⁷ต่อไปนี้เป็นรูปริดสีดวงทวารขั้นรุนแรงทองคำซึ่งคนฟีลิสเตียถวายเป็นเครื่องบูชาไถ่การละเมิดถวายแด่พระเยโฮวาห์ รูปหนึ่งสำหรับเมืองอัชโดด เมืองกาซารูปหนึ่ง เมืองอัชเคโลนรูปหนึ่ง เมืองกัทรูปหนึ่ง เมืองเอโครนรูปหนึ่ง

¹⁷These are the golden tumors which the Philistines returned for a trespass offering to Yahweh: for Ashdod one, for Gaza one, for Ashkelon one, for Gath one, for Ekron one;

¹⁸รูปหนูทองคำก็เช่นเดียวกัน ตามจำนวนเมืองของฟีลิสเตียที่เป็นเมืองของเจ้านายทั้งห้า ทั้งเมืองที่มีป้อมปราการและชนบที่ไม่มีกำแพงเมือง จนถึงหินก้อนใหญ่แห่งอาเบล ซึ่งเขาวางหีบของพระเยโฮวาห์ลงไว้นั้น หินนั้นก็ยังอยู่จนทุกวันนี้ ที่ในทุ่งนาของโยชูวาชาวเบธเชเมช

¹⁸and the golden mice, according to the number of all the cities of the Philistines belonging to the five lords, both of fortified cities and of country villages, even to the great stone, whereon they set down the ark of Yahweh. That stone remains to this day in the field of Joshua of Beth Shemesh.

¹⁹พระองค์จึงทรงประหารชาวเบธเชเมช เพราะว่าเขาทั้งหลายได้มองข้างในหีบแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์ พระองค์ได้ทรงประหารเสียห้าหมื่นเจ็ดสิบคน และประชาชนก็ไว้ทุกข์ เพราะว่าพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงประหารประชาชนเสียเป็นอันมาก

¹⁹He struck of the men of Beth Shemesh, because they had looked into the ark of Yahweh, he struck of the people fifty thousand seventy men; and the people mourned, because Yahweh had struck the people with a great slaughter.

²⁰แล้วชาวเบธเชเมชจึงกล่าวว่า "ผู้ใดสามารถยืนอยู่ต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าบริสุทธิ์องค์นี้ได้ พระองค์จะเสด็จไปจากเราไปหาผู้ใดดี"

²⁰The men of Beth Shemesh said, “Who is able to stand before Yahweh, this holy God? To whom shall he go up from us?”

²¹ดังนั้นเขาจึงส่งผู้สื่อสารไปยังชาวเมืองคีริยาทเยอาริมกล่าวว่า "คนฟีลิสเตียได้คืนหีบแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์มาแล้ว ขอลงมาเชิญหีบขึ้นไปอยู่กับท่านเถิด"

²¹They sent messengers to the inhabitants of Kiriath Jearim, saying, “The Philistines have brought back the ark of Yahweh; come down, and bring it up to yourselves.”
