¹It happened after this, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them some of the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.

²มีคนมาทูลเยโฮชาฟัทว่า "มีคนหมู่ใหญ่มาสู้รบกับพระองค์จากซีเรียข้างนี้ จากฟากทะเลข้างโน้น และดูเถิด เขาทั้งหลายอยู่ในฮาซาโซนทามาร์ คือเอนกาดี"

²Then some came who told Jehoshaphat, saying, “A great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea from Syria. Behold, they are in Hazazon Tamar” (that is, En Gedi).

³และเยโฮชาฟัทก็กลัว และมุ่งแสวงหาพระเยโฮวาห์ และได้ทรงประกาศให้อดอาหารทั่วยูดาห์

³Jehoshaphat was alarmed, and set himself to seek to Yahweh. He proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.

⁴และยูดาห์ได้ชุมนุมกันแสวงหาความช่วยเหลือจากพระเยโฮวาห์ เขาทั้งหลายพากันมาจากหัวเมืองทั้งสิ้นแห่งยูดาห์เพื่อแสวงหาพระเยโฮวาห์

⁴Judah gathered themselves together, to seek help from Yahweh. They came out of all the cities of Judah to seek Yahweh.

⁵และเยโฮชาฟัทประทับยืนอยู่ในที่ประชุมของยูดาห์และเยรูซาเล็ม ในพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์ ข้างหน้าลานใหม่

⁵Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of Yahweh, before the new court;

⁶และตรัสทูลว่า "ข้าแต่พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าแห่งบรรพบุรุษของข้าพเจ้าทั้งหลาย พระองค์มิได้เป็นพระเจ้าในฟ้าสวรรค์หรือ พระองค์มิได้ปกครองเหนือบรรดาราชอาณาจักรของประชาชาติหรือ ในพระหัตถ์ของพระองค์มีฤทธิ์และอำนาจ จึงไม่มีผู้ใดต่อต้านพระองค์ได้

⁶and he said, “Yahweh, the God of our fathers, aren’t you God in heaven? Aren’t you ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in your hand, so that no one is able to withstand you.

⁷พระองค์เป็นพระเจ้าของข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายมิใช่หรือ ผู้ทรงขับไล่ชาวแผ่นดินนี้ออกไปเสียให้พ้นหน้าอิสราเอลประชาชนของพระองค์ และทรงมอบไว้แก่เชื้อสายของอับราฮัมมิตรสหายของพระองค์เป็นนิตย์

⁷Didn’t you, our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel, and give it to the seed of Abraham your friend forever?

⁸และเขาทั้งหลายได้อาศัยอยู่ในนั้น และได้สร้างสถานบริสุทธิ์แห่งหนึ่งในนั้นถวายพระองค์ เพื่อพระนามของพระองค์ ทูลว่า

⁸They lived in it, and have built you a sanctuary in it for your name, saying,

⁹`ถ้าเหตุชั่วร้ายขึ้นมาเหนือข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลาย จะเป็นดาบ การพิพากษา หรือโรคระบาด หรือการกันดารอาหาร ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายจะยืนอยู่ต่อหน้าพระนิเวศนี้ และต่อพระพักตร์พระองค์ (เพราะพระนามของพระองค์อยู่ในพระนิเวศนี้) และร้องทูลต่อพระองค์ในความทุกข์ใจของข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลาย และพระองค์จะทรงฟังและช่วยให้รอด'

⁹‘If evil comes on us—the sword, judgment, pestilence, or famine—we will stand before this house, and before you, (for your name is in this house), and cry to you in our affliction, and you will hear and save.’

¹⁰ดูเถิด บัดนี้คนอัมโมนและโมอับ และภูเขาเสอีร์ ผู้ซึ่งพระองค์ไม่ทรงยอมให้คนอิสราเอลบุกรุก เมื่อเขามาจากแผ่นดินอียิปต์ และผู้ซึ่งเขาได้หลีกไปมิได้ทำลายเสีย

¹⁰Now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir, whom you would not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned aside from them, and didn’t destroy them;

¹¹ดูเถิด เขาทั้งหลายได้ให้บำเหน็จแก่เราอย่างไร ด้วยมาขับเราออกเสียจากแผ่นดินกรรมสิทธิ์ของพระองค์ ซึ่งพระองค์ประทานให้แก่ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายเป็นมรดก

¹¹behold, how they reward us, to come to cast us out of your possession, which you have given us to inherit.

¹²ข้าแต่พระเจ้าของข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลาย พระองค์จะไม่ทรงกระทำการพิพากษาเหนือเขาหรือ เพราะว่าข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายไม่มีฤทธิ์ที่จะต่อสู้คนหมู่มหึมานี้ซึ่งกำลังมาต่อสู้กับข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลาย ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายไม่ทราบว่าจะกระทำประการใด แต่ดวงตาของข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายเพ่งที่พระองค์"

¹²Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no might against this great company that comes against us; neither know we what to do, but our eyes are on you.”

¹³ในระหว่างนั้นคนทั้งปวงของยูดาห์ก็ยืนอยู่ต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์พร้อมกับภรรยาและลูกหลานของเขา

¹³All Judah stood before Yahweh, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.

¹⁴และพระวิญญาณของพระเยโฮวาห์เสด็จมาสถิตกับยาฮาซีเอลบุตรชายเศคาริยาห์ ผู้เป็นบุตรชายเบไนยาห์ ผู้เป็นบุตรชายเยอีเอล ผู้เป็นบุตรชายมัทธานิยาห์ เป็นคนเลวี ลูกหลานของอาสาฟ เมื่อท่านอยู่ท่ามกลางที่ประชุมนั้น

¹⁴Then the Spirit of Yahweh came on Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, the Levite, of the sons of Asaph, in the midst of the assembly;

¹⁵และเขาได้พูดว่า "ยูดาห์ทั้งปวง และชาวเยรูซาเล็มทั้งหลาย กับกษัตริย์เยโฮชาฟัทขอจงฟัง พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้แก่ท่านทั้งหลายว่า `อย่ากลัวเลย และอย่าท้อถอยด้วยคนหมู่มหึมานี้เลย เพราะว่าการสงครามนั้นไม่ใช่ของท่าน แต่เป็นของพระเจ้า

¹⁵and he said, “Listen, all Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you king Jehoshaphat. Thus says Yahweh to you, ‘Don’t be afraid, neither be dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.

¹⁶พรุ่งนี้ท่านทั้งหลายจงลงไปต่อสู้กับเขา ดูเถิด เขาจะขึ้นมาทางขึ้นที่ตำบลศิส ท่านจะพบเขาที่ปลายลำธาร ข้างหน้าถิ่นทุรกันดารเยรูเอล

¹⁶Tomorrow go down against them. Behold, they are coming up by the ascent of Ziz. You shall find them at the end of the valley, before the wilderness of Jeruel.

¹⁷ไม่จำเป็นที่ท่านจะต้องสู้รบในสงครามครั้งนี้ โอ ยูดาห์และเยรูซาเล็ม จงเข้าประจำที่ ยืนนิ่งอยู่และดูชัยชนะของพระเยโฮวาห์เพื่อท่าน' อย่ากลัวเลย อย่าท้อถอย พรุ่งนี้จงออกไปสู้กับเขา เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์จะทรงสถิตอยู่กับท่าน"

¹⁷You will not need to fight this battle. Set yourselves, stand still, and see the salvation of Yahweh with you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Don’t be afraid, nor be dismayed. Go out against them tomorrow, for Yahweh is with you.’”

¹⁸แล้วเยโฮชาฟัทโน้มพระเศียรก้มพระพักตร์ของพระองค์ลงถึงดิน และยูดาห์ทั้งปวงกับชาวเยรูซาเล็มได้กราบลงต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์ นมัสการพระเยโฮวาห์

¹⁸Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground; and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before Yahweh, worshipping Yahweh.

¹⁹และคนเลวี จากลูกหลานคนโคฮาท และลูกหลานคนโคราห์ ได้ยืนขึ้นถวายสรรเสริญแด่พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอลด้วยเสียงอันดังในที่สูง

¹⁹The Levites, of the children of the Kohathites and of the children of the Korahites, stood up to praise Yahweh, the God of Israel, with an exceeding loud voice.

²⁰และเขาทั้งหลายได้ลุกขึ้นแต่เช้า และออกไปในถิ่นทุรกันดารแห่งเทโคอา และเมื่อเขาออกไป เยโฮชาฟัทประทับยืนและตรัสว่า "โอ ยูดาห์และชาวเยรูซาเล็มเอ๋ย จงฟังข้าพเจ้า จงเชื่อพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่าน และท่านจะตั้งมั่นคงอยู่ จงเชื่อบรรดาผู้พยากรณ์ของพระองค์ และท่านจะสำเร็จผล"

²⁰They rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Listen to me, Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem! Believe in Yahweh your God, so you shall be established! Believe his prophets, so you shall prosper.”

²¹และเมื่อพระองค์ได้ปรึกษากับประชาชนแล้ว พระองค์ได้ทรงแต่งตั้งบรรดาผู้ที่จะร้องเพลงถวายพระเยโฮวาห์ ให้สรรเสริญพระองค์ด้วยเครื่องประดับแห่งความบริสุทธิ์ ขณะเมื่อเขาเดินออกไปหน้าศัตรู และว่า "จงถวายโมทนาแด่พระเยโฮวาห์ เพราะความเมตตาของพระองค์ดำรงอยู่เป็นนิตย์"

²¹When he had taken counsel with the people, he appointed those who should sing to Yahweh, and give praise in holy array, as they went out before the army, and say, Give thanks to Yahweh; for his loving kindness endures forever.

²²และเมื่อเขาทั้งหลายตั้งต้นร้องเพลงสรรเสริญ พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงจัดกองซุ่มคอยต่อสู้กับคนอัมโมน โมอับ และชาวภูเขาเสอีร์ ผู้ได้เข้ามาต่อสู้กับยูดาห์ ดังนั้นเขาทั้งหลายจึงแตกพ่ายไป

²²When they began to sing and to praise, Yahweh set ambushers against the children of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were struck.

²³เพราะว่าคนของอัมโมนและของโมอับได้ลุกขึ้นต่อสู้กับชาวภูเขาเสอีร์ ทำลายเขาเสียอย่างสิ้นเชิง และเมื่อเขาทั้งหลายทำลายชาวเสอีร์หมดแล้ว เขาทั้งสิ้นช่วยกันทำลายซึ่งกันและกัน

²³For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir, utterly to kill and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, everyone helped to destroy another.

²⁴เมื่อยูดาห์ขึ้นไปอยู่ที่หอคอยที่ในถิ่นทุรกันดาร เขามองตรงไปที่คนหมู่ใหญ่นั้น และดูเถิด มีแต่ศพนอนอยู่บนแผ่นดิน ไม่มีสักคนเดียวที่รอดไปได้

²⁴When Judah came to the place overlooking the wilderness, they looked at the multitude; and behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and there were none who escaped.

²⁵เมื่อเยโฮชาฟัทและประชาชนของพระองค์มาเก็บของที่ริบจากเขาทั้งหลาย พร้อมกับศพทั้งหลายนั้นเขาพบสิ่งของเป็นจำนวนมาก ทั้งทรัพย์สมบัติและเพชรพลอยต่างๆ ซึ่งเขาเก็บมามากสำหรับตัวจนขนไปไม่ไหว เขาเก็บของที่ริบได้เหล่านั้นสามวัน เพราะมากเหลือเกิน

²⁵When Jehoshaphat and his people came to take their spoil, they found among them in abundance both riches and dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in taking the spoil, it was so much.

²⁶ในวันที่สี่เขาทั้งหลายได้ชุมนุมกันที่หุบเขาเบราคาห์ ด้วยที่นั่นเขาสรรเสริญพระเยโฮวาห์ เพราะฉะนั้นเขาจึงเรียกที่นั้นว่า หุบเขาเบราคาห์ จนถึงทุกวันนี้

²⁶On the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Beracah; for there they blessed Yahweh: therefore the name of that place was called The valley of Beracah to this day.

²⁷แล้วเขาทั้งหลายกลับไปคนยูดาห์และเยรูซาเล็มทุกคน และเยโฮชาฟัททรงนำหน้ากลับไปยังเยรูซาเล็มด้วยความชื่นบาน เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ได้ทรงกระทำให้เขาเปรมปรีดิ์เย้ยศัตรูของเขา

²⁷Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat in their forefront, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for Yahweh had made them to rejoice over their enemies.

²⁸เขาทั้งหลายมายังเยรูซาเล็มด้วยพิณใหญ่ พิณเขาคู่ และแตร ยังพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์

²⁸They came to Jerusalem with stringed instruments and harps and trumpets to the house of Yahweh.

²⁹และความกลัวพระเจ้ามาอยู่เหนือบรรดาราชอาณาจักรของประเทศทั้งปวง เมื่อเขาได้ยินว่าพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงต่อสู้ศัตรูของอิสราเอล

²⁹The fear of God was on all the kingdoms of the countries, when they heard that Yahweh fought against the enemies of Israel.

³⁰แดนดินของเยโฮชาฟัทจึงสงบเงียบ เพราะว่าพระเจ้าของพระองค์ทรงประทานให้พระองค์มีการหยุดพักสงบอยู่รอบด้าน

³⁰So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet; for his God gave him rest all around.

³¹ดังนี้แหละ เยโฮชาฟัททรงครอบครองอยู่เหนือยูดาห์ เมื่อพระองค์ทรงเริ่มครอบครองนั้นมีพระชนมายุสามสิบห้าพรรษา และพระองค์ทรงครอบครองในเยรูซาเล็มยี่สิบห้าปี พระราชมารดาของพระองค์ทรงพระนามว่า อาซูบาห์ บุตรสาวชิลหิ

³¹Jehoshaphat reigned over Judah: he was thirty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.

³²พระองค์ทรงดำเนินตามมรรคาของอาสาราชบิดาของพระองค์ และมิได้ทรงพรากไปจากทางนั้น พระองค์ทรงกระทำสิ่งที่ถูกต้องในสายพระเนตรของพระเยโฮวาห์

³²He walked in the way of Asa his father, and didn’t turn aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh.

³³อย่างไรก็ดี ปูชนียสถานสูงยังไม่ได้ถูกกำจัดออกไป ประชาชนยังมิได้ปักใจในพระเจ้าแห่งบรรพบุรุษของตน

³³However the high places were not taken away; neither as yet had the people set their hearts to the God of their fathers.

³⁴ส่วนพระราชกิจนอกนั้นของเยโฮชาฟัท ตั้งแต่ต้นจนถึงที่สุด ดูเถิด ได้มีบันทึกไว้ในหนังสือของเยฮูบุตรชายฮานานี ซึ่งรวมเข้าในหนังสือของกษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอล

³⁴Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, first and last, behold, they are written in the history of Jehu the son of Hanani, which is inserted in the book of the kings of Israel.

³⁵ต่อมาภายหลัง เยโฮชาฟัทกษัตริย์ของยูดาห์ได้ทรงร่วมงานกับอาหัสยาห์กษัตริย์ของอิสราเอลผู้ทรงกระทำการอย่างชั่วร้ายมาก

³⁵After this Jehoshaphat king of Judah joined himself with Ahaziah king of Israel. The same did very wickedly:

³⁶พระองค์ทรงร่วมงานในเรื่องการสร้างเรือไปยังเมืองทารชิช และเขาทั้งหลายสร้างเรือในเอซีโอนเกเบอร์

³⁶and he joined himself with him to make ships to go to Tarshish; and they made the ships in Ezion Geber.

³⁷แล้วเอลีเยเซอร์บุตรชายโดดาวาหุแห่งเมืองมาเรชาห์ได้พยากรณ์ถึงเยโฮชาฟัทว่า "เพราะพระองค์ทรงร่วมงานกับอาหัสยาห์ พระเยโฮวาห์จะทรงทำลายสิ่งที่ท่านกระทำ" เรือก็แตกไม่สามารถไปเมืองทารชิชได้

³⁷Then Eliezer the son of Dodavahu of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, “Because you have joined yourself with Ahaziah, Yahweh has destroyed your works.” The ships were broken, so that they were not able to go to Tarshish.
