¹After these things, and this faithfulness, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, and entered into Judah, and encamped against the fortified cities, and thought to win them for himself.

²When Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come, and that he was purposed to fight against Jerusalem,

³พระองค์ทรงวางแผนการกับเจ้านายของพระองค์ และทแกล้วทหารของพระองค์ ที่จะอุดน้ำตามน้ำพุที่อยู่นอกเมืองเสีย และเขาทั้งหลายก็ทรงช่วยพระองค์

³he took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the springs which were outside of the city; and they helped him.

⁴มีประชาชนเป็นอันมากรวบรวมกันเข้ามา และเขาทั้งหลายอุดน้ำพุและปิดลำธารซึ่งไหลผ่านแผ่นดินเสีย พูดว่า "ทำไมจะให้บรรดากษัตริย์อัสซีเรียยกมาพบน้ำเป็นอันมากเล่า"

⁴So many people gathered together, and they stopped all the springs, and the brook that flowed through the midst of the land, saying, “Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find much water?”

⁵พระองค์ทรงประกอบกิจอย่างบึกบึน สร้างกำแพงที่สลักหักพังนั้นทั่วไปใหม่ และสร้างหอคอยขึ้น และทรงสร้างกำแพงข้างนอกอีกชั้นหนึ่ง และพระองค์ทรงเสริมกำแพงป้อมมิลโลที่นครดาวิด ทรงสร้างหอกและโล่เป็นจำนวนมาก

⁵He took courage, and built up all the wall that was broken down, and raised it up to the towers, and the other wall outside, and strengthened Millo in the city of David, and made weapons and shields in abundance.

⁶และพระองค์ทรงตั้งผู้บังคับการต่อต้านไว้เหนือประชาชน และทรงรวบรวมเข้าไว้ด้วยกัน ณ ถนนที่ประตูนคร และตรัสอย่างหนุนใจเขาทั้งหลายว่า

⁶He set captains of war over the people, and gathered them together to him in the broad place at the gate of the city, and spoke comfortably to them, saying,

⁷"จงเข้มแข็งและกล้าหาญเถิด อย่ากลัวหรือท้อถอยต่อกษัตริย์อัสซีเรีย และต่อกองทัพทั้งสิ้นที่อยู่กับเขานั้น เพราะมีผู้หนึ่งฝ่ายเราที่ใหญ่กว่าฝ่ายเขา

⁷“Be strong and courageous, don’t be afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude who is with him; for there is a greater with us than with him.

⁸ฝ่ายเขามีแต่กำลังเนื้อหนัง แต่ฝ่ายเรามีพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเราทรงสถิตกับเราที่ทรงช่วยเราและสู้รบฝ่ายเรา" ประชาชนก็วางใจในพระดำรัสของเฮเซคียาห์กษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์

⁸With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is Yahweh our God to help us, and to fight our battles.” The people rested themselves on the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

⁹After this, Sennacherib king of Assyria sent his servants to Jerusalem, (now he was before Lachish, and all his power with him), to Hezekiah king of Judah, and to all Judah who were at Jerusalem, saying,

¹⁰"เซนนาเคอริบกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียตรัสดังนี้ว่า `เจ้าทั้งหลายพึ่งอะไร เจ้าจึงยืนมั่นให้ล้อมอยู่ในกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม

¹⁰Thus says Sennacherib king of Assyria, “In whom do you trust, that you remain under siege in Jerusalem?

¹¹เฮเซคียาห์มิได้พาเจ้าให้หลงเพื่อจะมอบให้เจ้าตายด้วยการอดอาหารและความกระหายหรือ ในเมื่อเขาบอกเจ้าว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเราจะทรงช่วยเราให้พ้นจากมือของกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรีย"

¹¹Doesn’t Hezekiah persuade you, to give you over to die by famine and by thirst, saying, ‘Yahweh our God will deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria?’

¹²เฮเซคียาห์คนนี้แหละมิใช่หรือที่ได้กำจัดปูชนียสถานสูง และแท่นบูชาของพระองค์ และบัญชาแก่ยูดาห์กับเยรูซาเล็มว่า "เจ้าจงนมัสการอยู่หน้าแท่นบูชาแท่นเดียว และเจ้าจงเผาเครื่องหอมบนแท่นนั้น"

¹²Hasn’t the same Hezekiah taken away his high places and his altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, ‘You shall worship before one altar, and on it you shall burn incense?’

¹³เจ้าไม่รู้หรือว่าเราและบรรพบุรุษของเราได้กระทำอะไรแก่ชนชาติทั้งหลายแห่งประเทศต่างๆ พระของบรรดาประชาชาติแห่งประเทศเหล่านั้นสามารถที่จะช่วยประเทศของเขาให้พ้นจากมือของเราหรือ

¹³Don’t you know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of the lands in any way able to deliver their land out of my hand?

¹⁴ในพวกพระทั้งปวงแห่งประชาชาติเหล่านั้นที่บรรพบุรุษของเราได้ทำลายเสียอย่างสิ้นเชิง ยังมีพระองค์ใดเล่าที่สามารถช่วยประชาชนของตนให้พ้นจากมือของเรา แล้วพระเจ้าของเจ้าน่ะหรือจะสามารถช่วยเจ้าให้พ้นจากมือของเรา

¹⁴Who was there among all the gods of those nations which my fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of my hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of my hand?

¹⁵เพราะฉะนั้นบัดนี้อย่าให้เฮเซคียาห์ล่อลวงเจ้า หรือพาเจ้าให้หลงในทำนองนี้ อย่าเชื่อเขา เพราะไม่มีพระแห่งประชาชาติหรือราชอาณาจักรใดที่สามารถช่วยประชาชนของตนให้พ้นจากมือของเรา หรือจากมือบรรพบุรุษของเรา พระเจ้าของเจ้าจะช่วยเจ้าให้พ้นจากมือของเราได้น้อยยิ่งกว่านั้นสักเท่าใดเล่า'"

¹⁵Now therefore don’t let Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you in this way, neither believe him; for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of my hand, and out of the hand of my fathers. How much less will your God deliver you out of my hand?”

¹⁶และข้าราชการของพระองค์ก็กล่าวทับถมพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าและเฮเซคียาห์ผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์มากยิ่งกว่านั้น

¹⁶His servants spoke yet more against Yahweh God, and against his servant Hezekiah.

¹⁷และพระองค์ทรงพระอักษรหมิ่นประมาทพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของอิสราเอล และตรัสทับถมพระองค์ว่า "พระของบรรดาประชาชาติแห่งประเทศทั้งหลายมิได้ช่วยประชาชนของตนให้พ้นจากมือของเราฉันใด พระเจ้าของเฮเซคียาห์ก็จะไม่ช่วยประชาชนของตนให้พ้นจากมือของเราฉันนั้น"

¹⁷He also wrote letters insulting Yahweh, the God of Israel, and to speak against him, saying, “As the gods of the nations of the lands, which have not delivered their people out of my hand, so shall the God of Hezekiah not deliver his people out of my hand.”

¹⁸และเขาทั้งหลายก็ตะโกนความนี้ด้วยเสียงอันดังเป็นภาษาฮีบรูให้ชาวเยรูซาเล็มผู้อยู่บนกำแพงฟัง เพื่อให้เขาตกใจและหวาดหวั่นไหว จะได้ยึดเอาเมืองนั้น

¹⁸They cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ language to the people of Jerusalem who were on the wall, to frighten them, and to trouble them; that they might take the city.

¹⁹เขาได้พูดถึงพระเจ้าแห่งเยรูซาเล็มอย่างกับที่เขาพูดถึงพระแห่งชนชาติทั้งหลายของแผ่นดินโลก ซึ่งเป็นผลงานของมือมนุษย์

¹⁹They spoke of the God of Jerusalem, as of the gods of the peoples of the earth, which are the work of men’s hands.

²⁰แล้วกษัตริย์เฮเซคียาห์และผู้พยากรณ์อิสยาห์บุตรชายอามอสได้อธิษฐานเพราะเรื่องนี้และร้องทูลต่อสวรรค์

²⁰Hezekiah the king, and Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz, prayed because of this, and cried to heaven.

²¹และพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงใช้ทูตสวรรค์องค์หนึ่ง ซึ่งได้ตัดทแกล้วทหารทั้งปวงและผู้บังคับกองและนายทหารในค่ายของกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียออกเสีย เพราะฉะนั้นพระองค์จึงเสด็จกลับไปยังแผ่นดินของพระองค์ด้วยความอับอายขายพระพักตร์ และเมื่อพระองค์เสด็จเข้าในนิเวศแห่งพระของพระองค์ คนเหล่านั้นที่ออกมาจากบั้นเอวของพระองค์เองได้ฆ่าพระองค์ด้วยดาบเสียที่นั่น

²¹Yahweh sent an angel, who cut off all the mighty men of valor, and the leaders and captains, in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. When he had come into the house of his god, those who came forth from his own bowels killed him there with the sword.

²²ดังนั้นพระเยโฮวาห์จึงทรงช่วยเฮเซคียาห์และชาวเยรูซาเล็มให้พ้นจากพระหัตถ์ของเซนนาเคอริบกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรีย และจากมือของศัตรูทั้งสิ้นของพระองค์ และพระองค์ทรงนำเขาทั้งหลายอยู่ทุกด้าน

²²Thus Yahweh saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all others, and guided them on every side.

²³และคนเป็นอันมากนำของถวายพระเยโฮวาห์มายังกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม และของกำนัลต่างๆมาถวายเฮเซคียาห์กษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ พระองค์จึงทรงเป็นที่ยกย่องในสายตาของทั้งปวงตั้งแต่เวลานั้นเป็นต้นมา

²³Many brought gifts to Yahweh to Jerusalem, and precious things to Hezekiah king of Judah; so that he was exalted in the sight of all nations from thenceforth.

²⁴ครั้นนั้นเฮเซคียาห์ทรงประชวนใกล้จะสิ้นพระชนม์ และพระองค์ทูลอธิษฐานต่อพระเยโฮวาห์ และพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงตอบ และประทานหมายสำคัญอย่างหนึ่งให้แก่เฮเซคียาห์

²⁴In those days Hezekiah was sick even to death: and he prayed to Yahweh; and he spoke to him, and gave him a sign.

²⁵แต่เฮเซคียาห์มิได้สนองพระคุณนั้น เพราะพระทัยของพระองค์ผยองขึ้น เพราะฉะนั้นพระพิโรธจึงมาเหนือพระองค์ ยูดาห์และเยรูซาเล็ม

²⁵But Hezekiah didn’t render again according to the benefit done to him; for his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath on him, and on Judah and Jerusalem.

²⁶แต่เฮเซคียาห์ทรงอ่อนน้อมถ่อมพระทัยที่กำเริบนั้นลง ทั้งพระองค์และชาวเยรูซาเล็ม พระพิโรธของพระเยโฮวาห์จึงมิได้มาเหนือเขาทั้งหลายในรัชกาลเฮเซคียาห์

²⁶Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of Yahweh didn’t come on them in the days of Hezekiah.

²⁷เฮเซคียาห์ทรงมีราชทรัพย์และเกียรติใหญ่ยิ่ง และพระองค์ทรงสร้างคลังไว้สำหรับพระองค์ เพื่อเก็บเงิน ทองคำ และเพชรพลอยต่างๆ เครื่องเทศ โล่ และสำหรับทรัพย์สินที่มีค่าทุกชนิด

²⁷Hezekiah had exceeding much riches and honor: and he provided him treasuries for silver, and for gold, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for shields, and for all kinds of goodly vessels;

²⁸ทั้งฉางสำหรับข้าว น้ำองุ่น และน้ำมัน ที่ผลิตมา และโรงเก็บสัตว์เลี้ยงทุกชนิดและคอกแกะ

²⁸storehouses also for the increase of grain and new wine and oil; and stalls for all kinds of animals, and flocks in folds.

²⁹พระองค์ทรงจัดหัวเมืองเพื่อพระองค์ด้วย ทั้งฝูงแพะแกะและฝูงวัวเป็นอันมาก เพราะพระเจ้าทรงประทานทรัพย์สินให้พระองค์มากยิ่ง

²⁹Moreover he provided him cities, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance; for God had given him very much substance.

³⁰เฮเซคียาห์องค์นี้เองทรงปิดทางน้ำออกตอนบนของน้ำพุกีโฮนเสีย แล้วนำไปให้ไหลลงไปทางทิศตะวันตกของนครดาวิด และเฮเซคียาห์ทรงจำเริญในพระราชกิจทั้งสิ้นของพระองค์

³⁰This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper spring of the waters of Gihon, and brought them straight down on the west side of the city of David. Hezekiah prospered in all his works.

³¹อย่างไรก็ตามในเรื่องทูตที่เจ้านายเมืองบาบิโลนใช้ให้มาถามถึงการมหัศจรรย์ซึ่งได้เกิดขึ้นในแผ่นดิน พระเจ้าก็ทรงปล่อยพระองค์ตามอำเภอใจ เพื่อจะทดลองพระองค์ และเพื่อจะทราบพระดำริทั้งสิ้นในพระทัยของพระองค์

³¹However concerning the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent to him to inquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all that was in his heart.

³²ฝ่ายพระราชกิจนอกนั้นของเฮเซคียาห์ และความดีของพระองค์ ดูเถิด มีบันทึกไว้ในนิมิตของอิสยาห์ผู้พยากรณ์บุตรชายอามอส และในหนังสือของกษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์และอิสราเอล

³²Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and his good deeds, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz, in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

³³และเฮเซคียาห์ล่วงหลับไปอยู่กับบรรพบุรุษของพระองค์ และเขาฝังพระศพไว้ในอุโมงค์สำคัญที่สุดของโอรสของดาวิด และบรรดาคนยูดาห์และชาวเยรูซาเล็มทั้งปวงได้ถวายเกียรติเมื่อพระองค์สิ้นพระชนม์ และมนัสเสห์โอรสของพระองค์ได้ครอบครองแทนพระองค์

³³Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the ascent of the tombs of the sons of David: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem did him honor at his death. Manasseh his son reigned in his place.
