¹Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab.

²ฝ่ายอาหัสยาห์ทรงตกลงมาจากช่องพระแกลตาข่ายที่ห้องชั้นบนของพระองค์ในกรุงสะมาเรียและทรงประชวร จึงทรงใช้บรรดาผู้สื่อสารไป รับสั่งว่า "จงไปถามบาอัลเซบูบ พระแห่งเอโครนว่า เราจะหายจากความเจ็บป่วยนี้หรือไม่"

²Ahaziah fell down through the lattice in his upper room that was in Samaria, and was sick. So he sent messengers, and said to them, “Go, inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron, whether I will recover of this sickness.”

³แต่ทูตสวรรค์ของพระเยโฮวาห์พูดกับเอลียาห์ชาวทิชบีว่า "จงลุกขึ้นไปพบบรรดาผู้สื่อสารของกษัตริย์แห่งสะมาเรีย และจงพูดกับเขาทั้งหลายว่า `เพราะไม่มีพระเจ้าในอิสราเอลแล้วหรือ ท่านจึงไปถามบาอัลเซบูบ พระแห่งเอโครน'

³But the angel of Yahweh “Yahweh” is God’s proper Name, sometimes rendered “LORD” (all caps) in other translations. said to Elijah the Tishbite, “Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and tell them, ‘Is it because there is no God The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “Elohim.” in Israel, that you go to inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron?

⁴เพราะฉะนั้นบัดนี้พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดั่งนี้ว่า `เจ้าจะไม่ได้ลงมาจากที่นอนซึ่งเจ้าขึ้นไปนั้น แต่เจ้าจะต้องตายแน่'" แล้วเอลียาห์ก็ไป

⁴Now therefore thus says Yahweh, “You shall not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but shall surely die.”’” Elijah departed.

⁵ผู้สื่อสารนั้นก็กลับมาเฝ้าพระองค์ พระองค์ตรัสถามเขาทั้งหลายว่า "ทำไมพวกเจ้าจึงพากันกลับมา"

⁵The messengers returned to him, and he said to them, “Why is it that you have returned?”

⁶และเขาทั้งหลายทูลพระองค์ว่า "มีชายคนหนึ่งมาพบกับพวกข้าพระองค์ และพูดกับพวกข้าพระองค์ว่า `จงกลับไปหากษัตริย์ผู้ใช้ท่านมา และทูลพระองค์ว่า พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า เพราะไม่มีพระเจ้าในอิสราเอลแล้วหรือเจ้าจึงใช้คนไปถามบาอัลเซบูบพระแห่งเอโครน เพราะฉะนั้นเจ้าจะไม่ได้ลงมาจากที่นอนซึ่งเจ้าได้ขึ้นไปนั้น แต่เจ้าจะต้องตายแน่'"

⁶They said to him, “A man came up to meet us, and said to us, ‘Go, return to the king who sent you, and tell him, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘Is it because there is no God in Israel, that you send to inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron? Therefore you shall not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but shall surely die.’”’”

⁷พระองค์ตรัสถามเขาทั้งหลายว่า "คนที่ได้มาพบเจ้าและบอกสิ่งเหล่านี้แก่เจ้านั้นเป็นคนในลักษณะใด"

⁷He said to them, “What kind of man was he who came up to meet you, and told you these words?”

⁸เขาทั้งหลายทูลตอบพระองค์ว่า "ท่านมีขนมากและมีหนังคาดเอวของท่านไว้" และพระองค์ตรัสว่า "เป็นเอลียาห์ชาวทิชบี"

⁸They answered him, “He was a hairy man, and wearing a leather belt around his waist.” He said, “It is Elijah the Tishbite.”

⁹แล้วกษัตริย์ก็รับสั่งให้นายกองของทหารห้าสิบคนพร้อมกับทหารห้าสิบคนของเขาไปหาเอลียาห์ เขาได้ขึ้นไปหาท่าน ดูเถิด ท่านนั่งอยู่บนยอดภูเขา และนายกองห้าสิบคนนั้นกล่าวแก่ท่านว่า "ข้าแต่คนแห่งพระเจ้า กษัตริย์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า `ลงมา'"

⁹Then the king sent a captain of fifty with his fifty to him. He went up to him; and behold, he was sitting on the top of the hill. He said to him, “Man of God, the king has said, ‘Come down!’”

¹⁰แต่เอลียาห์ตอบนายกองห้าสิบคนว่า "ถ้าข้าเป็นคนแห่งพระเจ้า ก็ขอให้ไฟลงมาจากฟ้าสวรรค์เผาผลาญเจ้าและคนทั้งห้าสิบของเจ้าเถิด" แล้วไฟก็ลงมาจากฟ้าสวรรค์และเผาผลาญเขากับคนทั้งห้าสิบของเขาเสีย

¹⁰Elijah answered to the captain of fifty, “If I am a man of God, let fire come down from the sky, and consume you and your fifty!” Fire came down from the sky, and consumed him and his fifty.

¹¹พระองค์ก็รับสั่งให้นายกองของทหารห้าสิบคนพร้อมกับทหารห้าสิบคนของเขาอีกพวกหนึ่งไป และเขาก็กล่าวแก่ท่านว่า "ข้าแต่คนแห่งพระเจ้า กษัตริย์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า `ลงมาเร็วๆ'"

¹¹Again he sent to him another captain of fifty and his fifty. He answered him, “Man of God, the king has said, ‘Come down quickly!’”

¹²แต่เอลียาห์ตอบว่า "ถ้าข้าเป็นคนแห่งพระเจ้า ก็ขอให้ไฟลงมาจากฟ้าสวรรค์เผาผลาญเจ้าและคนทั้งห้าสิบของเจ้าเถิด" และไฟของพระเจ้าลงมาจากฟ้าสวรรค์และเผาผลาญเขากับคนทั้งห้าสิบของเขาเสีย

¹²Elijah answered them, “If I am a man of God, let fire come down from the sky, and consume you and your fifty!” The fire of God came down from the sky, and consumed him and his fifty.

¹³และพระองค์รับสั่งให้นายกองของทหารห้าสิบคนพวกที่สามไปพร้อมกับทหารห้าสิบคนของเขา และนายกองคนที่สามของทหารห้าสิบคนนั้นก็ขึ้นไป และมาคุกเข่าลงต่อหน้าเอลียาห์ และวิงวอนท่านว่า "ข้าแต่คนแห่งพระเจ้า ข้าพเจ้าขออ้อนวอนต่อท่าน ขอได้โปรดให้ชีวิตของข้าพเจ้าและชีวิตของผู้รับใช้ของท่านห้าสิบคนนี้เป็นสิ่งประเสริฐในสายตาของท่าน

¹³Again he sent the captain of a third fifty with his fifty. The third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and begged him, and said to him, “Man of God, please let my life, and the life of these fifty your servants, be precious in your sight.

¹⁴ดูเถิด ไฟลงมาจากฟ้าสวรรค์และได้เผาผลาญนายกองห้าสิบทั้งสองคนก่อนหน้านั้นเสียพร้อมทั้งทหารห้าสิบคนของเขาด้วย แต่บัดนี้ขอให้ชีวิตของข้าพเจ้าเป็นสิ่งประเสริฐในสายตาของท่าน"

¹⁴Behold, fire came down from the sky, and consumed the two former captains of fifty with their fifties. But now let my life be precious in your sight.”

¹⁵แล้วทูตสวรรค์ของพระเยโฮวาห์กล่าวแก่เอลียาห์ว่า "จงลงไปกับเขาเถิด อย่ากลัวเขาเลย" ท่านก็ลุกขึ้นลงไปกับเขาเข้าเฝ้ากษัตริย์

¹⁵The angel of Yahweh said to Elijah, “Go down with him. Don’t be afraid of him.” He arose, and went down with him to the king.

¹⁶และทูลพระองค์ว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า `เพราะเจ้าได้ส่งผู้สื่อสารไปยังบาอัลเซบูบพระแห่งเอโครน เพราะไม่มีพระเจ้าในอิสราเอลที่จะทูลถามพระวจนะของพระองค์อย่างนั้นหรือ เพราะฉะนั้นเจ้าจะไม่ได้ลงมาจากที่นอนซึ่งเจ้าได้ขึ้นไปนั้น แต่เจ้าจะต้องตายแน่'"

¹⁶He said to him, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘Because you have sent messengers to inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron, is it because there is no God in Israel to inquire of his word? Therefore you shall not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but shall surely die.’”

¹⁷พระองค์ก็สิ้นชีวิตตามพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์ซึ่งเอลียาห์กล่าวนั้น และเยโฮรัมก็ขึ้นครองแทน ในปีที่สองแห่งรัชกาลเยโฮรัมบุตรชายเยโฮชาฟัทกษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ เพราะพระองค์หามีโอรสไม่

¹⁷So he died according to the word of Yahweh which Elijah had spoken. Jehoram began to reign in his place in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah; because he had no son.

¹⁸ส่วนพระราชกิจนอกนั้นของอาหัสยาห์ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงกระทำ มิได้บันทึกไว้ในหนังสือพงศาวดารแห่งกษัตริย์ประเทศอิสราเอลหรือ

¹⁸Now the rest of the acts of Ahaziah which he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
