¹และอยู่มาเมื่อถึงเวลาที่พระเยโฮวาห์จะทรงรับเอลียาห์ขึ้นไปสู่สวรรค์ด้วยลมบ้าหมู เอลียาห์และเอลีชากำลังเดินทางจากหมู่บ้านกิลกาล

¹It happened, when Yahweh would take up Elijah by a whirlwind into heaven, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.

²และเอลียาห์พูดกับเอลีชาว่า "ขอท่านจงคอยอยู่ที่นี่ เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงใช้ข้าพเจ้าไปถึงเบธเอล" แต่เอลีชาว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงพระชนม์อยู่ และท่านเองมีชีวิตอยู่แน่ฉันใด ข้าพเจ้าจะไม่จากท่านไปฉันนั้น" ดังนั้นท่านทั้งสองก็ลงไปยังเบธเอล

²Elijah said to Elisha, “Please wait here, for Yahweh has sent me as far as Bethel.” Elisha said, “As Yahweh lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” So they went down to Bethel.

³และเหล่าศิษย์แห่งผู้พยากรณ์ผู้อยู่ในเบธเอลได้ออกมาหาเอลีชาและบอกท่านว่า "ท่านทราบไหมว่า วันนี้พระเยโฮวาห์จะทรงรับอาจารย์ของท่านไปจากเป็นหัวหน้าท่าน" ท่านตอบว่า "ครับ ข้าพเจ้าทราบแล้ว เงียบๆไว้"

³The sons of the prophets who were at Bethel came out to Elisha, and said to him, “Do you know that Yahweh will take away your master from your head today?” He said, “Yes, I know it; hold your peace.”

⁴เอลียาห์พูดกับท่านว่า "เอลีชา ขอท่านคอยอยู่ที่นี่เถิด เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงใช้ข้าพเจ้าไปถึงเมืองเยรีโค" แต่ท่านตอบว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงพระชนม์อยู่และท่านเองมีชีวิตอยู่แน่ฉันใด ข้าพเจ้าจะไม่จากท่านไปฉันนั้น" เพราะฉะนั้นท่านทั้งสองจึงมายังเมืองเยรีโค

⁴Elijah said to him, “Elisha, please wait here, for Yahweh has sent me to Jericho.” He said, “As Yahweh lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” So they came to Jericho.

⁵และเหล่าศิษย์แห่งผู้พยากรณ์ผู้อาศัยอยู่ในเมืองเยรีโคได้เข้ามาใกล้เอลีชาและพูดกับท่านว่า "ท่านทราบไหมว่า วันนี้พระเยโฮวาห์จะทรงรับอาจารย์ของท่านไปจากเป็นหัวหน้าท่าน" ท่านตอบว่า "ครับ ข้าพเจ้าทราบแล้ว เงียบๆไว้"

⁵The sons of the prophets who were at Jericho came near to Elisha, and said to him, “Do you know that Yahweh will take away your master from your head today?” He answered, “Yes, I know it. Hold your peace.”

⁶แล้วเอลียาห์จึงพูดกับท่านว่า "ขอท่านจงคอยอยู่ที่นี่ เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงใช้ข้าพเจ้าไปถึงแม่น้ำจอร์แดน" แต่ท่านว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงพระชนม์อยู่และท่านเองมีชีวิตอยู่แน่ฉันใด ข้าพเจ้าจะไม่จากท่านไปฉันนั้น" แล้วท่านทั้งสองก็เดินต่อไป

⁶Elijah said to him, “Please wait here, for Yahweh has sent me to the Jordan.” He said, “As Yahweh lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” They both went on.

⁷คนห้าสิบคนของเหล่าศิษย์แห่งผู้พยากรณ์ก็ไปเหมือนกันและยืนอยู่ตรงหน้าห่างจากท่านทั้งสอง ฝ่ายท่านทั้งสองยืนอยู่ที่แม่น้ำจอร์แดน

⁷Fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood opposite them at a distance; and they both stood by the Jordan.

⁸เอลียาห์ก็เอาเสื้อคลุมของท่านม้วนเข้าแล้วฟาดลงที่น้ำนั้น น้ำก็แยกออกไปสองข้าง ท่านทั้งสองจึงเดินข้ามไปได้บนดินแห้ง

⁸Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and struck the waters, and they were divided here and there, so that they two went over on dry ground.

⁹และอยู่มาเมื่อท่านทั้งสองข้ามไปแล้ว เอลียาห์จึงพูดกับเอลีชาว่า "จงขอสิ่งที่อยากให้ข้าพเจ้าทำเพื่อท่านก่อนที่ข้าพเจ้าจะถูกรับไปจากท่าน" และเอลีชาตอบว่า "ขอให้ฤทธิ์เดชของท่านอยู่กับข้าพเจ้าเป็นสองเท่าเดิม"

⁹It happened, when they had gone over, that Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask what I shall do for you, before I am taken from you.” Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be on me.”

¹⁰และท่านตอบว่า "ท่านขอสิ่งที่ยากนัก แต่ถ้าท่านเห็นข้าพเจ้าถูกรับขึ้นไปจากท่าน ท่านก็จะได้อย่างนั้น แต่ถ้าท่านไม่เห็น ก็จะไม่เป็นแก่ท่านอย่างนั้น"

¹⁰He said, “You have asked a hard thing. If you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so.”

¹¹และอยู่มาเมื่อท่านทั้งสองยังเดินพูดกันต่อไป ดูเถิด รถเพลิงคันหนึ่งและม้าเพลิงได้แยกท่านทั้งสองออกจากกัน และเอลียาห์ได้ขึ้นไปโดยลมบ้าหมูเข้าสวรรค์

¹¹It happened, as they still went on, and talked, that behold, a chariot of fire and horses of fire separated them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

¹²เอลีชาก็เห็น และท่านได้ร้องว่า "คุณพ่อของข้าพเจ้า คุณพ่อของข้าพเจ้า รถรบของอิสราเอลและพลม้าประจำ" และท่านก็ไม่ได้เห็นเอลียาห์อีกเลย แล้วท่านก็จับเสื้อของตนฉีกออกเป็นสองท่อน

¹²Elisha saw it, and he cried, “My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and its horsemen!” He saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and tore them in two pieces.

¹³แล้วท่านก็หยิบเสื้อคลุมของเอลียาห์ที่ตกลงมาจากเอลียาห์นั้น และกลับไปยืนอยู่ที่ฝั่งแม่น้ำจอร์แดน

¹³He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of the Jordan.

¹⁴แล้วท่านก็เอาเสื้อคลุมของเอลียาห์ที่ตกลงมานั้นฟาดลงที่น้ำกล่าวว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าแห่งเอลียาห์ทรงสถิตที่ใด" และเมื่อท่านฟาดลงที่น้ำ น้ำก็แยกออกไปสองข้าง และเอลีชาก็เดินข้ามไป

¹⁴He took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and struck the waters, and said, “Where is Yahweh, the God of Elijah?” When he also had struck the waters, they were divided here and there; and Elisha went over.

¹⁵เมื่อเหล่าศิษย์แห่งผู้พยากรณ์ที่อยู่ ณ เมืองเยรีโค แลเห็นท่าน เขาทั้งหลายจึงว่า "ฤทธิ์เดชของเอลียาห์อยู่กับเอลีชา" และเขาทั้งหลายก็มาต้อนรับท่าน แล้วซบหน้าลงถึงดินต่อหน้าท่าน

¹⁵When the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho over against him saw him, they said, “The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” They came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

¹⁶เขาทั้งหลายกล่าวแก่ท่านว่า "ดูเถิด มีห้าสิบคนที่เป็นชายฉกรรจ์อยู่กับผู้รับใช้ของท่าน ขอจงไปเที่ยวหาอาจารย์ของท่าน บางทีพระวิญญาณแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์ได้รับท่านไปแล้วเหวี่ยงท่านลงมาที่ภูเขาหรือหุบเขาแห่งหนึ่งแห่งใดบ้าง" และท่านว่า "อย่าใช้เขาไปเลย"

¹⁶They said to him, “See now, there are with your servants fifty strong men. Please let them go and seek your master. Perhaps the Spirit of Yahweh has taken him up, and put him on some mountain, or into some valley. He said, “You shall not send them.”

¹⁷แต่เมื่อเขาทั้งหลายชักชวนท่านจนท่านละอายแล้วท่านจึงว่า "ใช้ไปซี" เพราะฉะนั้นเขาจึงใช้ห้าสิบคนไป เขาทั้งหลายแสวงหาเอลียาห์อยู่สามวันก็ไม่พบท่าน

¹⁷When they urged him until he was ashamed, he said, “Send them.” They sent therefore fifty men; and they searched for three days, but didn’t find him.

¹⁸เขาทั้งหลายก็กลับมาหาเอลีชา (ขณะเมื่อท่านพักอยู่ที่เมืองเยรีโค) และท่านพูดกับเขาว่า "ข้ามิได้บอกท่านทั้งหลายแล้วหรือว่า `อย่าไปเลย'"

¹⁸They came back to him, while he stayed at Jericho; and he said to them, “Didn’t I tell you, ‘Don’t go?’”

¹⁹คนในเมืองพูดกับเอลีชาว่า "ดูเถิด ทำเลเมืองนี้ก็ร่าเริงดี ดังที่เจ้านายของข้าพเจ้าได้เห็นแล้ว แต่ทว่าน้ำไม่ดีและชาวแผ่นดินก็แท้งลูก"

¹⁹The men of the city said to Elisha, “Behold, please, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the land miscarries.”

²⁰ท่านพูดว่า "จงเอาชามใหม่มาลูกหนึ่ง ใส่เกลือไว้ในนั้น" แล้วเขาทั้งหลายก็หามาให้

²⁰He said, “Bring me a new jar, and put salt in it.” They brought it to him.

²¹แล้วท่านก็ไปที่น้ำพุ โยนเกลือลงในนั้นและกล่าวว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า เราได้กระทำน้ำนี้ให้ดีแล้ว ตั้งแต่นี้ไปจะไม่มีความตายหรือการแท้งลูกมาจากน้ำนี้อีก"

²¹He went out to the spring of the waters, and threw salt into it, and said, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘I have healed these waters. There shall not be from there any more death or miscarrying.’”

²²ฉะนั้นน้ำจึงดีมาจนถึงทุกวันนี้ จริงตามถ้อยคำซึ่งเอลีชาได้กล่าวนั้น

²²So the waters were healed to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spoke.

²³ท่านได้ขึ้นไปจากที่นั่นถึงเมืองเบธเอล และขณะเมื่อท่านขึ้นไปตามทางมีเด็กชายเล็กๆบางคนออกมาจากเมืองล้อเลียนท่านว่า "อ้ายหัวล้าน จงขึ้นไปเถิด อ้ายหัวล้าน จงขึ้นไปเถิด"

²³He went up from there to Bethel. As he was going up by the way, some youths came out of the city and mocked him, and said to him, “Go up, you baldy! Go up, you baldhead!”

²⁴ท่านก็เหลียวดู แล้วจึงแช่งเขาในพระนามพระเยโฮวาห์ และหมีตัวเมียสองตัวออกมาจากป่า ฉีกเด็กชายพวกนั้นเสียสี่สิบสองคน

²⁴He looked behind him and saw them, and cursed them in the name of Yahweh. Two female bears came out of the woods, and mauled forty-two of those youths.

²⁵จากที่นั่นท่านก็ขึ้นไปถึงภูเขาคารเมล และจากที่นั่นท่านก็หันกลับมายังสะมาเรีย

²⁵He went from there to Mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria.
