1ในปี่สองแห่งรัชกาลโยอาชโอรสของเยโฮอาหาสกษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอล อามาซิยาห์โอรสของโยอาชกษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ได้เริ่มครอบครองนั้น
1In the second year of Joash son of Joahaz king of Israel began Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah to reign.
2เมื่อพระองค์ทรงเริ่มครอบครองนั้น พระองค์มีพระชนมายุยี่สิบห้าพรรษา และพระองค์ทรงครองในเยรูซาเล็มยี่สิบเก้าปี พระมารดาของพระองค์มีพระนามว่าเยโฮอัดดานชาวเยรูซาเล็ม
2He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Jehoaddin of Jerusalem.
3และพระองค์ทรงกระทำสิ่งที่ถูกต้องในสายพระเนตรของพระเยโฮวาห์ แต่ยังไม่เหมือนกับดาวิดบรรพบุรุษของพระองค์ พระองค์ทรงกระทำตามทุกสิ่งที่โยอาชราชบิดาของพระองค์ได้ทรงกระทำ
3He did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, yet not like David his father: he did according to all that Joash his father had done.
4แต่ว่าปูชนียสถานสูงนั้นยังมิได้ทรงรื้อเสีย ประชาชนยังคงถวายสัตวบูชาและเผาเครื่องหอมบนปูชนียสถานสูงเหล่านั้น
4However the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.
5และอยู่มาเมื่อราชอาณาจักรอยู่ในพระหัตถ์ของพระองค์อย่างมั่นคงแล้ว พระองค์ก็ทรงประหารชีวิตข้าราชการของพระองค์ผู้ที่ฆ่ากษัตริย์คือพระราชบิดาของพระองค์เสีย
5It happened, as soon as the kingdom was established in his hand, that he killed his servants who had slain the king his father:
6แต่พระองค์มิได้ทรงประหารชีวิตลูกหลานของผู้ที่ฆ่านั้น ตามซึ่งได้บันทึกไว้ในหนังสือพระราชบัญญัติของโมเสส ที่พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงบัญชาว่า "อย่าให้บิดาต้องรับโทษถึงตายแทนบุตรของตน หรือให้บุตรต้องรับโทษถึงตายแทนบิดาของตน ให้ทุกคนรับโทษถึงตายเนื่องด้วยบาปของคนนั้นเอง"
6but the children of the murderers he didn’t put to death; according to that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, as Yahweh commanded, saying, “The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin.”
7พระองค์ทรงประหารชีวิตคนเอโดมหนึ่งหมื่นคนในหุบเขาเกลือ และยึดเมืองเส-ลาด้วยการสงคราม และเรียกเมืองนั้นว่า โยกเธเอล ซึ่งเป็นชื่อมาถึงทุกวันนี้
7He killed of Edom in the Valley of Salt ten thousand, and took Sela by war, and called its name Joktheel, to this day.
8และอามาซิยาห์ทรงใช้ผู้สื่อสารไปหาเยโฮอาชโอรสของเยโฮอาหาสโอรสของเยฮูกษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอลทูลว่า "มาเถิด ขอให้เราเผชิญหน้ากัน"
8Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, “Come, let us look one another in the face.”
9และเยโฮอาชกษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอลทรงส่งข่าวไปยังอามาซิยาห์กษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ว่า "ต้นผักหนามบนภูเขาเลบานอนส่งข่าวไปหาต้นสนสีดาร์บนภูเขาเลบานอนว่า `จงยกบุตรสาวของเจ้าให้เป็นภรรยาบุตรชายของเรา' และสัตว์ป่าทุ่งตัวหนึ่งแห่งเลบานอนผ่านมา และย่ำต้นผักหนามลงเสีย
9Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, “The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, ‘Give your daughter to my son as wife. Then a wild animal that was in Lebanon passed by, and trampled down the thistle.
10จริงอยู่ ท่านได้โจมตีเอโดม และพระทัยของท่านก็ทำให้ท่านผยองขึ้น จงพอใจในสง่าราศีของท่านเถิด และอยู่กับบ้าน เพราะไฉนท่านจึงเร้าใจตนเองให้ต่อสู้และรับอันตราย อันจะให้ท่านล้มลง ทั้งท่านและยูดาห์ด้วย"
10You have indeed struck Edom, and your heart has lifted you up. Enjoy the glory of it, and stay at home; for why should you meddle to your harm, that you should fall, even you, and Judah with you?’”
11แต่อามาซิยาห์หาทรงฟังไม่ เยโฮอาชกษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอลจึงขึ้นไป และพระองค์กับอามาซิยาห์กษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ก็เผชิญหน้ากันที่เบธเชเมชซึ่งเป็นของยูดาห์
11But Amaziah would not listen. So Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth Shemesh, which belongs to Judah.
12และยูดาห์ก็พ่ายแพ้อิสราเอล และทุกคนก็หนีกลับไปเต็นท์ของตน
12Judah was defeated by Israel; and they fled every man to his tent.
13และเยโฮอาชกษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอลก็จับอามาซิยาห์กษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์โอรสของเยโฮอาชโอรสของอาหัสยาห์ได้ที่เมืองเบธเชเมช และได้เสด็จมายังเยรูซาเล็ม และทลายกำแพงเยรูซาเล็มลงเสียสี่ร้อยศอก ตั้งแต่ประตูเอฟราอิมจนถึงประตูมุม
13Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth Shemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
14และพระองค์ทรงริบทองคำและเงินทั้งหมด และเครื่องใช้ทั้งหมดที่พบในพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์ และในคลังของสำนักพระราชวัง พร้อมกับคนประกัน และพระองค์กลับไปยังสะมาเรีย
14He took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of Yahweh, and in the treasures of the king’s house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria.
15ส่วนพระราชกิจนอกนั้นของเยโฮอาช ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงกระทำ ทั้งยุทธพลังของพระองค์ และที่พระองค์ทรงสู้รบกับอามาซิยาห์กษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์อย่างไรนั้น มิได้บันทึกไว้ในหนังสือพงศาวดารแห่งกษัตริย์ประเทศอิสราเอลหรือ
15Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
16และเยโฮอาชทรงล่วงหลับไปอยู่กับบรรพบุรุษของพระองค์ และเขาฝังไว้ในสะมาเรียกับบรรดากษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอล และเยโรโบอัมโอรสของพระองค์ได้ครอบครองแทนพระองค์
16Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his place.
17อามาซิยาห์โอรสของโยอาชกษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ทรงพระชนม์อยู่สิบห้าปี หลังจากสวรรคตของเยโฮอาชโอรสของเยโฮอาหาสกษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอล
17Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.
18ส่วนพระราชกิจนอกนั้นของอามาซิยาห์ มิได้บันทึกไว้ในหนังสือพงศาวดารแห่งกษัตริย์ประเทศยูดาห์หรือ
18Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
19และเขาได้ร่วมกันกบฏต่อพระองค์ในเยรูซาเล็ม และพระองค์ทรงหนีไปยังลาคีช แต่เขาใช้คนไปตามพระองค์ที่ลาคีช และประหารชีวิตพระองค์เสียที่นั่น
19They made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem; and he fled to Lachish: but they sent after him to Lachish, and killed him there.
20และเขานำพระศพบรรทุกม้ากลับมา และฝังไว้ในเยรูซาเล็มอยู่กับบรรพบุรุษของพระองค์ในนครดาวิด
20They brought him on horses; and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.
21และประชาชนทั้งสิ้นแห่งยูดาห์ก็ตั้งอาซาริยาห์ ผู้ซึ่งมีพระชนมายุสิบหกพรรษา ให้เป็นกษัตริย์แทนอามาซิยาห์พระราชบิดาของพระองค์
21All the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the place of his father Amaziah.
22พระองค์ทรงสร้างเมืองเอลัทและให้กลับขึ้นแก่ยูดาห์ หลังจากที่กษัตริย์ทรงล่วงหลับไปอยู่กับบรรพบุรุษของพระองค์
22He built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.
23ในปีที่สิบห้าแห่งรัชกาลอามาซิยาห์โอรสของโยอาชกษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ เยโรโบอัมโอรสของโยอาชกษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอลได้เริ่มครอบครองในสะมาเรีย และทรงครอบครองอยู่สี่สิบเอ็ดปี
23In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah, Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria for forty-one years.
24และพระองค์ทรงกระทำสิ่งที่ชั่วร้ายในสายพระเนตรของพระเยโฮวาห์ พระองค์มิได้ทรงพรากจากบาปทั้งสิ้นของเยโรโบอัมบุตรชายเนบัท ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงกระทำให้อิสราเอลทำบาป
24He did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh: he didn’t depart from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin.
25พระองค์ทรงตีเอาดินแดนอิสราเอลคืนมาตั้งแต่ทางเข้าเมืองฮามัทไกลไปจนถึงทะเลแห่งที่ราบ ตามพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอล ซึ่งพระองค์ตรัสโดยผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์คือโยนาห์ ผู้เป็นบุตรชายอามิททัย ผู้พยากรณ์ผู้มาจากกัธเฮเฟอร์
25He restored the border of Israel from the entrance of Hamath to the sea of the Arabah, according to the word of Yahweh, the God of Israel, which he spoke by his servant Jonah the son of Amittai, the prophet, who was of Gath Hepher.
26เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ทอดพระเนตรเห็นว่า ความทุกข์ใจของอิสราเอลนั้นขมขื่นนัก เพราะไม่มีใครยังอยู่หรือเหลืออยู่ และไม่มีผู้ใดช่วยอิสราเอล
26For Yahweh saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter; for there was none shut up nor left at large, neither was there any helper for Israel.
27พระเยโฮวาห์มิได้ตรัสว่าจะทรงลบนามอิสราเอลเสียจากใต้ฟ้าสวรรค์ แต่พระองค์ทรงช่วยเขาโดยพระหัตถ์ของเยโรโบอัมโอรสของโยอาช
27Yahweh didn’t say that he would blot out the name of Israel from under the sky; but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.
28ส่วนพระราชกิจนอกนั้นของเยโรโบอัม และบรรดาสิ่งซึ่งพระองค์ทรงกระทำ และยุทธพลังของพระองค์ พระองค์สู้รบอย่างไร และเรื่องที่พระองค์ทรงตีเอาดามัสกัสและฮามัทคืนแก่อิสราเอล ซึ่งได้เคยเป็นของยูดาห์ มิได้บันทึกไว้ในหนังสือพงศาวดารแห่งกษัตริย์ประเทศอิสราเอลหรือ
28Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, which had belonged to Judah, for Israel, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
29และเยโรโบอัมทรงล่วงหลับไปอยู่กับบรรพบุรุษของพระองค์ คือบรรดากษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอล และเศคาริยาห์โอรสของพระองค์ขึ้นครองแทนพระองค์
29Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zechariah his son reigned in his place.
