¹ต่อไปนี้เป็นถ้อยคำในพันธสัญญาซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงบัญชาโมเสสให้กระทำกับคนอิสราเอลในแผ่นดินโมอับ นอกเหนือพันธสัญญาซึ่งพระองค์ทรงกระทำกับพวกเขาที่โฮเรบ

¹These are the words of the covenant which Yahweh commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.

²โมเสสเรียกบรรดาคนอิสราเอลมาและกล่าวแก่เขาว่า "ท่านทั้งหลายได้เห็นทุกสิ่งซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงกระทำต่อหน้าต่อตาของท่านในแผ่นดินอียิปต์ ต่อฟาโรห์และต่อบรรดาข้าราชบริพารของท่าน และต่อประเทศของท่านทั้งสิ้น

²Moses called to all Israel, and said to them, You have seen all that Yahweh did before your eyes in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land;

³ทั้งการทดลองใหญ่ซึ่งนัยน์ตาของท่านได้เห็น ทั้งหมายสำคัญและการอัศจรรย์ยิ่งใหญ่เหล่านั้น

³the great trials which your eyes saw, the signs, and those great wonders:

⁴แต่จนกระทั่งวันนี้พระเยโฮวาห์มิได้ประทานจิตใจที่เข้าใจ ตาที่มองเห็นได้ และหูที่ยินได้ให้แก่ท่าน

⁴but Yahweh has not given you a heart to know, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, to this day.

⁵`เราได้นำเจ้าอยู่ในถิ่นทุรกันดารสี่สิบปี เสื้อผ้าของเจ้ามิได้ขาดวิ่นไปจากเจ้า และรองเท้ามิได้ขาดหลุดไปจากเท้าของเจ้า

⁵I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes have not grown old on you, and your shoes have not grown old on your feet.

⁶เจ้าทั้งหลายมิได้รับประทานขนมปัง เจ้ามิได้ดื่มน้ำองุ่นหรือสุรา เพื่อเจ้าจะได้รู้ว่า เราเป็นพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเจ้า'

⁶You have not eaten bread, neither have you drunk wine or strong drink; that you may know that I am Yahweh your God.

⁷และเมื่อท่านมาถึงที่นี้ สิโหนกษัตริย์เมืองเฮชโบน และโอกกษัตริย์เมืองบาชาน ออกมาทำสงครามกับเรา แต่เราทั้งหลายก็ได้กระทำให้เขาพ่ายแพ้ไป

⁷When you came to this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, came out against us to battle, and we struck them:

⁸เราริบแผ่นดินของเขาและมอบให้เป็นมรดกแก่คนรูเบน คนกาด และคนครึ่งตระกูลมนัสเสห์

⁸and we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half-tribe of the Manassites.

⁹เพราะฉะนั้นจงระวังที่จะกระทำตามถ้อยคำแห่งพันธสัญญานี้ เพื่อท่านทั้งหลายจะจำเริญในบรรดากิจการซึ่งท่านกระทำ

⁹Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do.

¹⁰ในวันนี้ท่านทั้งหลายทุกคนยืนอยู่ต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่าน คือบรรดาผู้หัวหน้าตระกูลทั้งหลาย พวกผู้ใหญ่ของท่าน และเจ้าหน้าที่ของท่าน บรรดาผู้ชายของอิสราเอล

¹⁰You stand this day all of you before Yahweh your God; your heads, your tribes, your elders, and your officers, even all the men of Israel,

¹¹เด็กๆของท่าน ภรรยาของท่าน และคนต่างด้าวที่อยู่ในค่ายของท่าน ทั้งคนที่ตัดฟืนให้ท่าน และคนที่ตักน้ำให้ท่าน

¹¹your little ones, your wives, and your foreigner who is in the midst of your camps, from the one who cuts your wood to the one who draws your water;

¹²เพื่อท่านจะได้เข้ามาในพันธสัญญาแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่าน คือในพันธสัญญาที่ปฏิญาณไว้ ซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านทรงกระทำกับท่านในวันนี้

¹²that you may enter into the covenant of Yahweh your God, and into his oath, which Yahweh your God makes with you this day;

¹³เพื่อพระองค์จะทรงแต่งตั้งท่านทั้งหลายในวันนี้ให้เป็นประชาชนของพระองค์ และเพื่อพระองค์จะเป็นพระเจ้าของท่าน ดังที่พระองค์ทรงตรัสกับท่านนั้น และดังที่พระองค์ทรงปฏิญาณกับบรรพบุรุษของท่าน คือกับอับราฮัม กับอิสอัคและกับยาโคบ

¹³that he may establish you this day to himself for a people, and that he may be to you a God, as he spoke to you, and as he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

¹⁴ข้าพเจ้ามิได้กระทำพันธสัญญากับคำปฏิญาณนี้กับท่านเท่านั้น

¹⁴Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath,

¹⁵แต่กับผู้ที่ยืนอยู่กับเราทั้งหลายในวันนี้ ต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเรา และกับผู้ที่ไม่ได้อยู่ที่นี่กับเราในวันนี้

¹⁵but with him who stands here with us this day before Yahweh our God, and also with him who is not here with us this day

¹⁶(ท่านทราบอยู่แล้วว่า เราอาศัยอยู่ในแผ่นดินอียิปต์อย่างไร และเราทั้งหลายได้ผ่านท่ามกลางประชาชาติ ซึ่งท่านทั้งหลายผ่านพ้นอย่างไร

¹⁶(for you know how we lived in the land of Egypt, and how we came through the midst of the nations through which you passed;

¹⁷ท่านทั้งหลายได้เห็นสิ่งที่น่าสะอิดสะเอียนของเขาทั้งหลายแล้ว คือเห็นรูปเคารพที่ทำด้วยไม้ ด้วยหิน และด้วยเงินและทอง ซึ่งอยู่ท่ามกลางเขาทั้งหลาย)

¹⁷and you have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them);

¹⁸จงระวังให้ดี เกรงว่าจะมีชายหรือหญิงคนใด หรือครอบครัวใด หรือตระกูลใด ซึ่งในวันนี้จิตใจของเขาหันไปจากพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเราไปปรนนิบัติพระของประชาชาติเหล่านั้น เกรงว่าท่ามกลางท่านจะมีรากซึ่งเกิดเป็นดีหมีและบอระเพ็ด

¹⁸lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turns away this day from Yahweh our God, to go to serve the gods of those nations; lest there should be among you a root that bears gall and wormwood;

¹⁹และต่อมาเมื่อคนนั้นได้ยินถ้อยคำแห่งคำสาปแช่งนี้ จะนึกอวยพรตัวเองในใจว่า `แม้ข้าจะเดินด้วยความดื้อดึงตามใจของข้า ข้าก็จะเป็นสุข ไม่ว่าจะเอาการเมาเหล้าซ้อนความกระหายน้ำ'

¹⁹and it happen, when he hears the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, “I shall have peace, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart, to destroy the moist with the dry.”

²⁰พระเยโฮวาห์จะมิได้ทรงให้อภัยแก่คนนั้น แต่พระพิโรธของพระเยโฮวาห์และความหวงแหนของพระองค์จะพลุ่งขึ้นต่อชายคนนั้น และคำสาปแช่งทั้งสิ้นซึ่งเขียนไว้ในหนังสือม้วนนี้จะตกอยู่เหนือเขา และพระเยโฮวาห์จะทรงลบชื่อของเขาเสียจากใต้ฟ้า

²⁰Yahweh will not pardon him, but then the anger of Yahweh and his jealousy will smoke against that man, and all the curse that is written in this book shall lie on him, and Yahweh will blot out his name from under the sky.

²¹แล้วพระเยโฮวาห์จะทรงแยกเขาออกจากตระกูลคนอิสราเอลทั้งปวงให้ประสบหายนะตามคำสาปแช่งทั้งสิ้นของพันธสัญญา ซึ่งจารึกไว้ในหนังสือพระราชบัญญัตินี้

²¹Yahweh will set him apart to evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that is written in this book of the law.

²²และคนชั่วอายุต่อมาคือลูกหลานซึ่งเกิดมาภายหลังท่าน และชนต่างด้าวซึ่งมาจากแผ่นดินที่อยู่ห่างไกล จะกล่าวเมื่อเขาเห็นภัยพิบัติต่างๆของแผ่นดินนั้นและโรคภัยซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงบันดาลให้เป็น

²²The generation to come, your children who shall rise up after you, and the foreigner who shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses with which Yahweh has made it sick;

²³คือแผ่นดินทั้งหมดเป็นกำมะถันและเป็นเกลือ และถูกเผาไฟ ไม่มีใครปลูกหว่าน และไม่มีอะไรงอกขึ้น เป็นที่ที่หญ้าไม่งอก เป็นการที่ถูกคว่ำอย่างโสโดมและโกโมราห์ เมืองอัดมาห์ เมืองเศโบอิม ซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงคว่ำด้วยความกริ้วและพระพิโรธ

²³and that the whole land of it is sulfur, salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor bears, nor any grass grows therein, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which Yahweh overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:

²⁴เออ ประชาชาติทั้งหลายจะกล่าวว่า `ทำไมพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงกระทำเช่นนี้แก่แผ่นดินนี้ พระพิโรธมากมายเช่นนี้หมายความว่ากระไร'

²⁴even all the nations shall say, “Why has Yahweh done thus to this land? What does the heat of this great anger mean?”

²⁵แล้วคนจะพูดกันว่า `เพราะเขาทอดทิ้งพันธสัญญาของพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของบรรพบุรุษของเขา ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงกระทำไว้กับเขาเมื่อพระองค์ทรงพาเขาออกจากแผ่นดินอียิปต์

²⁵Then men shall say, “Because they forsook the covenant of Yahweh, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt,

²⁶ไปปรนนิบัตินมัสการพระอื่น เป็นพระซึ่งเขาไม่เคยรู้จัก และซึ่งพระองค์มิได้ประทานแก่เขา

²⁶and went and served other gods, and worshiped them, gods that they didn’t know, and that he had not given to them:

²⁷เพราะฉะนั้นพระพิโรธของพระเยโฮวาห์จึงพลุ่งขึ้นต่อแผ่นดินนี้ นำเอาบรรดาคำสาปแช่งซึ่งจารึกไว้ในหนังสือนี้มาถึง

²⁷therefore the anger of Yahweh was kindled against this land, to bring on it all the curse that is written in this book;

²⁸และพระเยโฮวาห์จึงทรงถอนรากเขาเสียจากแผ่นดินด้วยความกริ้ว พระพิโรธและความเดือดดาลอันมากมาย และทิ้งเขาไปในอีกแผ่นดินหนึ่ง ดังที่เป็นอยู่วันนี้'

²⁸and Yahweh rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as at this day.”

²⁹สิ่งลี้ลับทั้งปวงเป็นของพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเราทั้งหลาย แต่สิ่งทรงสำแดงนั้นเป็นของเราทั้งหลาย และของลูกหลานของเราเป็นนิตย์ เพื่อเราจะกระทำตามถ้อยคำทั้งสิ้นของพระราชบัญญัตินี้"

²⁹The secret things belong to Yahweh our God; but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.
