¹They took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came to the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt.

²ชุมนุมชนชาติอิสราเอลทั้งปวงก็พากันบ่นต่อโมเสสและอาโรนในถิ่นทุรกันดาร

²The whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness;

³คนอิสราเอลกล่าวแก่ท่านทั้งสองว่า "พวกข้าพเจ้าตายเสียด้วยพระหัตถ์ของพระเยโฮวาห์ตั้งแต่อยู่ในประเทศอียิปต์ ขณะเมื่อนั่งอยู่ใกล้หม้อเนื้อและรับประทานอาหารอิ่มหนำจะดีกว่า นี่ท่านกลับนำพวกข้าพเจ้าออกมาในถิ่นทุรกันดารอย่างนี้ เพื่อจะให้ชุมนุมชนทั้งหมดหิวตายเท่านั้น"

³and the children of Israel said to them, “We wish that we had died by the hand of Yahweh in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the meat pots, when we ate our fill of bread, for you have brought us out into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”

⁴แล้วพระเยโฮวาห์ได้ตรัสกับโมเสสว่า "ดูเถิด เราจะให้อาหารตกลงมาจากท้องฟ้าดุจฝนสำหรับพวกเจ้า ให้พลไพร่ออกไปเก็บทุกวันพอกินเฉพาะวันหนึ่งๆ เพื่อเราจะได้ลองใจว่าเขาจะปฏิบัติตามราชบัญญัติของเราหรือไม่

⁴Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from the sky for you, and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in my law, or not.

⁵ต่อมาในวันที่หก เมื่อเขาเตรียมของที่เก็บมา อาหารนั้นก็จะเพิ่มเป็นสองเท่าของที่เขาเก็บทุกวัน"

⁵It shall come to pass on the sixth day, that they shall prepare that which they bring in, and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.”

⁶โมเสสกับอาโรนจึงบอกชนชาติอิสราเอลทั้งปวงว่า "ในเวลาเย็นท่านทั้งหลายจะได้รู้ว่าพระเยโฮวาห์เป็นผู้ทรงนำพวกท่านออกจากประเทศอียิปต์

⁶Moses and Aaron said to all the children of Israel, “At evening, then you shall know that Yahweh has brought you out from the land of Egypt;

⁷ในเวลาเช้าพวกท่านจะได้เห็นสง่าราศีแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์ เพราะคำบ่นต่อว่าของพวกท่านต่อพระเยโฮวาห์ พระองค์ทรงสดับแล้ว เราทั้งสองเป็นผู้ใดเล่า พวกท่านจึงมาบ่นต่อว่าเรา"

⁷and in the morning, then you shall see the glory of Yahweh; because he hears your murmurings against Yahweh. Who are we, that you murmur against us?”

⁸โมเสสกล่าวว่า "ในเวลาเย็นพระเยโฮวาห์จะประทานเนื้อให้ท่านรับประทานและในเวลาเช้าพวกท่านจะมีอาหารรับประทานจนอิ่ม เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงสดับคำบ่นของท่านต่อพระองค์ เราทั้งสองนี้เป็นผู้ใดเล่า พวกท่านมิได้บ่นต่อว่าเรา แต่ได้บ่นต่อว่าพระเยโฮวาห์"

⁸Moses said, “Now Yahweh shall give you meat to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to satisfy you; because Yahweh hears your murmurings which you murmur against him. And who are we? Your murmurings are not against us, but against Yahweh.”

⁹โมเสสจึงกล่าวแก่อาโรนว่า "จงบอกชุมนุมชนชาติอิสราเอลทั้งปวงว่า `เข้ามาใกล้พระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์ เพราะพระองค์ทรงสดับคำบ่นของท่านแล้ว'"

⁹Moses said to Aaron, “Tell all the congregation of the children of Israel, ‘Come near before Yahweh, for he has heard your murmurings.’”

¹⁰ต่อมาขณะที่อาโรนกล่าวแก่บรรดาชุมนุมชนอิสราเอลอยู่นั้น เขาทั้งหลายมองไปทางถิ่นทุรกันดาร แล้วดูเถิด สง่าราศีของพระเยโฮวาห์ปรากฏอยู่ในเมฆ

¹⁰It happened, as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of Yahweh appeared in the cloud.

¹¹พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับโมเสสว่า

¹¹Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

¹²"เราได้ยินคำบ่นของชนชาติอิสราเอลแล้ว จงกล่าวแก่เขาว่า `ในเวลาเย็น พวกเจ้าจะได้กินเนื้อ ทั้งในเวลาเช้า เจ้าจะได้อาหารกินจนอิ่ม แล้วเจ้าจะรู้ว่า เราคือพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของพวกเจ้า'"

¹²“I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel. Speak to them, saying, ‘At evening you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread: and you shall know that I am Yahweh your God.’”

¹³ครั้นถึงเวลาเย็นฝูงนกคุ่มบินมาเต็มค่าย ในเวลาเช้าก็มีน้ำค้างตกรอบค่ายที่พัก

¹³It happened at evening that quail came up and covered the camp; and in the morning the dew lay around the camp.

¹⁴เมื่อน้ำค้างระเหยไปแล้ว ดูเถิด สิ่งหนึ่งเหมือนเกล็ดเล็กๆเท่าเม็ดน้ำค้างแข็งอยู่ที่พื้นดินในถิ่นทุรกันดารนั้น

¹⁴When the dew that lay had gone, behold, on the surface of the wilderness was a small round thing, small as the frost on the ground.

¹⁵เมื่อชนชาติอิสราเอลเห็นจึงพูดกันว่า "นี่คือมานา" เพราะเขาไม่ทราบว่าเป็นสิ่งใด โมเสสจึงบอกเขาว่า "นี่แหละเป็นอาหารที่พระเยโฮวาห์ประทานให้พวกท่านรับประทาน

¹⁵When the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, “What is it?” For they didn’t know what it was. Moses said to them, “It is the bread which Yahweh has given you to eat.”

¹⁶นี่เป็นสิ่งที่พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงบัญชาไว้ว่า `ให้ทุกคนเก็บเท่าที่พอรับประทานอิ่ม ให้เก็บคนละโอเมอร์ ตามจำนวนคนมากน้อย ซึ่งพักอยู่ในเต็นท์ของตน'"

¹⁶This is the thing which Yahweh has commanded: “Gather of it everyone according to his eating; an omer An omer is about 2.2 litres or about 2.3 quarts a head, according to the number of your persons, you shall take it, every man for those who are in his tent.”

¹⁷ชนชาติอิสราเอลก็กระทำตาม บางคนเก็บมาก บางคนเก็บน้อย

¹⁷The children of Israel did so, and gathered some more, some less.

¹⁸แต่เมื่อเขาใช้โอเมอร์ตวงคนที่เก็บได้มากก็ไม่มีเหลือ และคนที่เก็บได้น้อยก็หาขาดไม่ ทุกคนเก็บได้เท่าที่คนหนึ่งรับประทานพอดี

¹⁸When they measured it with an omer, he who gathered much had nothing over, and he who gathered little had no lack. They gathered every man according to his eating.

¹⁹โมเสสจึงสั่งว่า "อย่าให้ผู้ใดเก็บเหลือไว้จนรุ่งเช้า"

¹⁹Moses said to them, “Let no one leave of it until the morning.”

²⁰แต่เขามิได้เชื่อฟังโมเสส บางคนเก็บส่วนหนึ่งไว้จนรุ่งเช้า อาหารนั้นก็เน่าเป็นหนอนและบูดเหม็น โมเสสจึงโกรธคนเหล่านั้น

²⁰Notwithstanding they didn’t listen to Moses, but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and became foul: and Moses was angry with them.

²¹เขาเก็บกันทุกๆเช้าเท่าที่คนหนึ่งรับประทานพอดี แต่พอแดดออกร้อนจัดแล้วอาหารนั้นก็ละลายไป

²¹They gathered it morning by morning, everyone according to his eating. When the sun grew hot, it melted.

²²อยู่มาเมื่อถึงวันที่หก เขาเก็บอาหารสองเท่า คือคนละสองโอเมอร์ บรรดาหัวหน้าของชุมนุมชนจึงมารายงานต่อโมเสส

²²It happened that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each one, and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses.

²³โมเสสบอกเขาว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงพระบัญชาว่า `พรุ่งนี้เป็นวันหยุดงาน เป็นสะบาโต วันบริสุทธิ์ของพระเยโฮวาห์ วันนี้จะปิ้งอะไรก็ให้ปิ้ง จะต้มอะไรก็ต้มเสีย และส่วนที่เหลือทั้งหมดจงเก็บไว้จนถึงวันรุ่งขึ้น'"

²³He said to them, “This is that which Yahweh has spoken, ‘Tomorrow is a solemn rest, a holy Sabbath to Yahweh. Bake that which you want to bake, and boil that which you want to boil; and all that remains over lay up for yourselves to be kept until the morning.’”

²⁴เมื่อเขาเก็บไว้จนถึงวันรุ่งขึ้นตามโมเสสสั่ง อาหารนั้นก็มิได้บูดเหม็นเป็นหนอนเลย

²⁴They laid it up until the morning, as Moses asked, and it didn’t become foul, neither was there any worm in it.

²⁵โมเสสจึงบอกว่า "วันนี้จงกินอาหารนั้น เพราะว่าวันนี้เป็นวันสะบาโตของพระเยโฮวาห์ วันนี้ท่านจะไม่พบอาหารอย่างนั้นในทุ่งเลย

²⁵Moses said, “Eat that today, for today is a Sabbath to Yahweh. Today you shall not find it in the field.

²⁶จงเก็บหกวัน แต่ในวันที่เจ็ดซึ่งเป็นสะบาโตจะไม่มีเลย"

²⁶Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day is the Sabbath. In it there shall be none.”

²⁷อยู่มาเมื่อวันที่เจ็ดมีบางคนออกไปเก็บ แต่ไม่ได้พบ

²⁷It happened on the seventh day, that some of the people went out to gather, and they found none.

²⁸พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับโมเสสว่า "พวกเจ้าจะขัดขืนบัญญัติและราชบัญญัติของเรานานสักเท่าไร

²⁸Yahweh said to Moses, “How long do you refuse to keep my commandments and my laws?

²⁹ดูซิ พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงกำหนดวันสะบาโตให้เจ้า คือในวันที่หก พระองค์จึงประทานอาหารให้พอรับประทานสองวัน ให้ทุกคนพักอยู่ในที่ของตน อย่าให้ผู้ใดออกจากที่พักในวันที่เจ็ดนั้นเลย"

²⁹Behold, because Yahweh has given you the Sabbath, therefore he gives you on the sixth day the bread of two days. Everyone stay in his place. Let no one go out of his place on the seventh day.”

³⁰เหตุฉะนั้นพลไพร่ทั้งปวงจึงได้พักงานในวันที่เจ็ด

³⁰So the people rested on the seventh day.

³¹เหล่าวงศ์วานของอิสราเอลเรียกชื่ออาหารนั้นว่า มานา เป็นเม็ดขาวเหมือนเมล็ดผัดชีมี รสเหมือนขนมแผ่นประสมน้ำผึ้ง

³¹The house of Israel called its name Manna, “Manna” means “What is it?” and it was like coriander seed, white; and its taste was like wafers with honey.

³²โมเสสกล่าวว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์มีรับสั่งว่า `จงตวงมานาโอเมอร์หนึ่ง เก็บไว้ตลอดชั่วอายุของเจ้า เพื่อเขาทั้งหลายจะได้เห็นอาหารซึ่งเราเลี้ยงเจ้าในถิ่นทุรกันดารนี้ เมื่อเรานำพวกเจ้าออกจากแผ่นดินอียิปต์'"

³²Moses said, “This is the thing which Yahweh has commanded, ‘Let an omer-full of it be kept throughout your generations, that they may see the bread with which I fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you forth from the land of Egypt.’”

³³โมเสสบอกอาโรนว่า "เอาหม้อลูกหนึ่ง ตวงมานาให้เต็มโอเมอร์หนึ่ง เก็บไว้ต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์ ตลอดชั่วอายุของท่าน"

³³Moses said to Aaron, “Take a pot, and put an omer-full of manna in it, and lay it up before Yahweh, to be kept throughout your generations.”

³⁴อาโรนก็วางมานานั้นลงหน้าหีบพระโอวาท เพื่อรักษาไว้ตามพระดำรัสที่พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงบัญชาแก่โมเสส

³⁴As Yahweh commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, to be kept.

³⁵ชนชาติอิสราเอลได้กินมานาสี่สิบปีจนเขามาถึงเมืองที่จะอาศัยอยู่ พวกเขากินมานาจนมาถึงชายแดนแผ่นดินคานาอัน

³⁵The children of Israel ate the manna forty years, until they came to an inhabited land. They ate the manna until they came to the borders of the land of Canaan.

³⁶หนึ่งโอเมอร์เท่ากับหนึ่งในสิบของเอฟาห์

³⁶Now an omer is the tenth part of an ephah. 1 ephah is about 22 litres or about 2/3 of a bushel
