1อับราฮัมเดินทางจากที่นั่นไปยังดินแดนทางใต้ อาศัยอยู่ระหว่างเมืองคาเดชและเมืองชูร์ และอาศัยอยู่ในเมืองเก-ราร์
1Abraham traveled from there toward the land of the South, and lived between Kadesh and Shur. He lived as a foreigner in Gerar.
2อับราฮัมบอกถึงนางซาราห์ภรรยาของตนว่า "นางเป็นน้องสาวของข้าพเจ้า" อาบีเมเลคกษัตริย์แห่งเมืองเก-ราร์จึงใช้คนมานำนางซาราห์ไป
2Abraham said about Sarah his wife, “She is my sister.” Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.
3แต่พระเจ้าเสด็จมาหาอาบีเมเลคทางพระสุบินในเวลากลางคืนและตรัสกับท่านว่า "ดูเถิด เจ้าเป็นเหมือนคนตาย เพราะหญิงนั้นซึ่งเจ้านำมา ด้วยว่านางเป็นภรรยาของผู้อื่นแล้ว"
3But God came to Abimelech in a dream of the night, and said to him, “Behold, you are a dead man, because of the woman whom you have taken. For she is a man’s wife.”
4แต่อาบีเมเลคยังไม่ได้เข้าใกล้นาง ท่านจึงทูลว่า "ข้าแต่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า พระองค์จะประหารชนชาติที่ชอบธรรมด้วยหรือ
4Now Abimelech had not come near her. He said, “Lord, will you kill even a righteous nation?
5เขาบอกแก่ข้าพระองค์มิใช่หรือว่า `นางเป็นน้องสาวของข้าพเจ้า' และแม้แต่นางเองก็ว่า `เขาเป็นพี่ชายของข้าพเจ้า' ข้าพระองค์กระทำดังนี้ด้วยจิตใจอันซื่อตรงและด้วยมือที่บริสุทธิ์"
5Didn’t he tell me, ‘She is my sister?’ She, even she herself, said, ‘He is my brother.’ In the integrity of my heart and the innocence of my hands have I done this.”
6พระเจ้าตรัสกับท่านในพระสุบินว่า "แท้จริงเรารู้แล้วว่าเจ้ากระทำดังนี้ด้วยจิตใจอันซื่อตรง เราจึงยับยั้งเจ้าไม่ให้ทำบาปต่อเรา เหตุฉะนั้นเราไม่ยอมให้เจ้าถูกต้องนางนั้น
6God said to him in the dream, “Yes, I know that in the integrity of your heart you have done this, and I also withheld you from sinning against me. Therefore I didn’t allow you to touch her.
7บัดนี้จงคืนภรรยาให้แก่ชายนั้น เพราะเขาเป็นผู้พยากรณ์ เขาจะอธิษฐานเพื่อเจ้าแล้วเจ้าจะมีชีวิตอยู่ ถ้าเจ้าไม่คืนนางนั้น เจ้าจงรู้ว่าเจ้าจะตายเป็นแน่ ทั้งเจ้าและทุกคนที่เป็นของเจ้า"
7Now therefore, restore the man’s wife. For he is a prophet, and he will pray for you, and you will live. If you don’t restore her, know for sure that you will die, you, and all who are yours.”
8เหตุฉะนั้นอาบีเมเลคตื่นบรรทมตั้งแต่เช้าตรู่ ทรงเรียกบรรดาข้าราชการของท่าน และทรงรับสั่งเรื่องทั้งหมดนี้ให้พวกเขาฟัง และคนเหล่านั้นก็กลัวยิ่งนัก
8Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ear. The men were very scared.
9ดังนั้นอาบีเมเลคทรงเรียกอับราฮัมมาและตรัสกับท่านว่า "เจ้าได้กระทำอะไรแก่พวกเรา เราได้กระทำผิดอะไรต่อเจ้า ที่เจ้านำบาปใหญ่โตมายังเราและราชอาณาจักรของเรา เจ้าได้กระทำสิ่งซึ่งไม่ควรกระทำแก่เรา"
9Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said to him, “What have you done to us? How have I sinned against you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done deeds to me that ought not to be done!”
10อาบีเมเลคตรัสกับอับราฮัมว่า "เจ้าคิดอะไรที่เจ้าจึงได้กระทำสิ่งนี้"
10Abimelech said to Abraham, “What did you see, that you have done this thing?”
11อับราฮัมทูลว่า "เพราะข้าพระองค์คิดว่าไม่มีความเกรงกลัวพระเจ้าในสถานที่นี่เป็นแน่ พวกเขาจะฆ่าข้าพระองค์เพราะเห็นแก่ภรรยาของข้าพระองค์
11Abraham said, “Because I thought, ‘Surely the fear of God is not in this place. They will kill me for my wife’s sake.’
12ยิ่งกว่านั้นนางเป็นน้องสาวของข้าพระองค์จริงๆ นางเป็นบุตรสาวของบิดาข้าพระองค์ แต่ไม่ใช่บุตรสาวของมารดาข้าพระองค์ และนางได้มาเป็นภรรยาของข้าพระองค์
12Besides, she is indeed my sister, the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.
13ต่อมาเมื่อพระเจ้าทรงโปรดให้ข้าพระองค์ต้องเร่ร่อนจากบ้านบิดาของข้าพระองค์ ข้าพระองค์จึงพูดกับนางว่า `นี่เป็นความกรุณาซึ่งเจ้าจะสำแดงต่อข้าพเจ้า ในสถานที่ทุกๆแห่งที่เราจะไปนั้นขอให้กล่าวถึงข้าพเจ้าว่า เขาเป็นพี่ชายของดิฉัน'"
13It happened, when God caused me to wander from my father’s house, that I said to her, ‘This is your kindness which you shall show to me. Everywhere that we go, say of me, “He is my brother.”’”
14อาบีเมเลคจึงทรงนำแกะ วัวและทาสชายหญิง และประทานให้แก่อับราฮัม แล้วทรงคืนซาราห์ภรรยาของตนให้ท่านไป
14Abimelech took sheep and cattle, male servants and female servants, and gave them to Abraham, and restored Sarah, his wife, to him.
15แล้วอาบีเมเลคตรัสว่า "ดูเถิด แผ่นดินของเราก็อยู่ต่อหน้าเจ้า เจ้าจะอาศัยอยู่ที่ไหนก็ได้ตามใจชอบ"
15Abimelech said, “Behold, my land is before you. Dwell where it pleases you.”
16พระองค์ตรัสกับซาราห์ว่า "ดูเถิด เราให้เงินหนึ่งพันแผ่นแก่พี่ชายของเจ้า ดูเถิด พี่ชายจะคลุมตาเจ้าต่อหน้าทุกคนที่อยู่กับเจ้าและคนทั้งปวง" ด้วยคำเหล่านี้นางก็ได้รับการติเตียน
16To Sarah he said, “Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver. Behold, it is for you a covering of the eyes to all that are with you. In front of all you are vindicated.”
17เพราะฉะนั้น อับราฮัมก็อธิษฐานต่อพระเจ้า พระเจ้าทรงรักษาอาบีเมเลค และมเหสีของพระองค์และทาสหญิงให้หาย และเขาเหล่านั้นก็มีบุตร
17Abraham prayed to God. God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his female servants, and they bore children.
18เพราะว่าพระเยโฮวาห์ได้ทรงปิดครรภ์สตรีในราชสำนักของอาบีเมเลคทุกคน เพราะเรื่องซาราห์ภรรยาอับราฮัม
18For Yahweh had closed up tight all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah, Abraham’s wife.
