¹พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงเยี่ยมซาราห์เหมือนที่พระองค์ตรัสไว้ และพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงกระทำแก่ซาราห์ดังที่พระองค์ทรงตรัสไว้

¹Yahweh visited Sarah as he had said, and Yahweh did to Sarah as he had spoken.

²เพราะซาราห์ตั้งครรภ์ และคลอดบุตรชายคนหนึ่งให้อับราฮัมเมื่อท่านชรา ตามเวลาซึ่งพระเจ้าได้ตรัสกับท่าน

²Sarah conceived, and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.

³อับราฮัมตั้งชื่อบุตรชายที่เกิดแก่ท่าน ผู้ซึ่งซาราห์คลอดให้ท่านนั้นว่า อิสอัค

³Abraham called his son who was born to him, whom Sarah bore to him, Isaac. Isaac means “He laughs.”

⁴แล้วอับราฮัมทำพิธีเข้าสุหนัตให้แก่อิสอัคบุตรชายของตนเมื่อมีอายุแปดวัน ดังที่พระเจ้าทรงบัญชาแก่ท่าน

⁴Abraham circumcised his son, Isaac, when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him.

⁵อับราฮัมมีอายุหนึ่งร้อยปีเมื่ออิสอัคบุตรชายเกิดแก่ท่าน

⁵Abraham was one hundred years old when his son, Isaac, was born to him.

⁶นางซาราห์กล่าวว่า "พระเจ้าทรงกระทำให้ข้าพเจ้าหัวเราะ ดังนั้นทุกคนที่ได้ฟังจะพลอยหัวเราะกับข้าพเจ้า"

⁶Sarah said, “God has made me laugh. Everyone who hears will laugh with me.”

⁷นางกล่าวอีกว่า "ใครจะพูดกับอับราฮัมได้ว่าซาราห์จะให้ลูกอ่อนกินนม เพราะข้าพเจ้าก็ได้คลอดบุตรชายคนหนึ่งให้ท่านเมื่อท่านชราแล้ว"

⁷She said, “Who would have said to Abraham, that Sarah would nurse children? For I have borne him a son in his old age.”

⁸เด็กนั้นก็เติบโตขึ้นและหย่านมและอับราฮัมจัดการเลี้ยงใหญ่ในวันนั้นเมื่ออิสอัคหย่านม

⁸The child grew, and was weaned. Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned.

⁹แต่ซาราห์เห็นบุตรชายของฮาการ์คนอียิปต์ซึ่งนางคลอดให้อับราฮัม กำลังหัวเราะเล่นอยู่

⁹Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, mocking.

¹⁰นางจึงพูดกับอับราฮัมว่า "ไล่ทาสหญิงคนนี้กับบุตรชายของนางไปเสียเถิด เพราะว่าบุตรชายของทาสหญิงคนนี้จะเป็นผู้รับมรดกร่วมกับอิสอัคบุตรชายของข้าพเจ้าไม่ได้"

¹⁰Therefore she said to Abraham, “Cast out this handmaid and her son! For the son of this handmaid will not be heir with my son, Isaac.”

¹¹อับราฮัมกลุ้มใจมาก เพราะเรื่องบุตรชายของท่าน

¹¹The thing was very grievous in Abraham’s sight on account of his son.

¹²แต่พระเจ้าตรัสกับอับราฮัมว่า "เจ้าอย่าโศกเศร้าในสายตาของเจ้าเพราะเรื่องเด็กนั้น และเพราะทาสหญิงของเจ้าเลย ทุกสิ่งที่ซาราห์กล่าวกับเจ้า เจ้าก็จงฟังเสียงของนางเถิด เพราะเขาจะเรียกเชื้อสายของเจ้าทางสายอิสอัค

¹²God said to Abraham, “Don’t let it be grievous in your sight because of the boy, and because of your handmaid. In all that Sarah says to you, listen to her voice. For from Isaac will your seed be called.

¹³ส่วนบุตรชายของทาสหญิงนั้น เราจะกระทำให้เป็นชนชาติหนึ่งด้วย เพราะเขาเป็นเชื้อสายของเจ้า"

¹³I will also make a nation of the son of the handmaid, because he is your seed.”

¹⁴อับราฮัมจึงลุกขึ้นแต่เช้ามืด ให้ขนมปังและน้ำหนึ่งถุงหนังแก่ฮาการ์ ใส่บ่าให้นางพร้อมกับเด็กนั้นแล้วไล่นางออกไป นางก็จากไปและพเนจรไปในถิ่นทุรกันดารแห่งเบเออร์เชบา

¹⁴Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread and a bottle of water, and gave it to Hagar, putting it on her shoulder; and gave her the child, and sent her away. She departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.

¹⁵และน้ำในถุงหนังนั้นก็หมดไป นางก็วางเด็กนั้นไว้ใต้พุ่มไม้แห่งหนึ่ง

¹⁵The water in the bottle was spent, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.

¹⁶แล้วนางก็ไปนั่งลงห่างออกไปตรงหน้าเด็กนั้น ประมาณเท่ากับระยะลูกธนูตก เพราะนางพูดว่า "อย่าให้ข้าเห็นความตายของเด็กนั้นเลย" นางก็นั่งอยู่ตรงหน้าเด็กนั้นแล้วตะเบ็งเสียงร้องไห้

¹⁶She went and sat down opposite him, a good way off, about a bow shot away. For she said, “Don’t let me see the death of the child.” She sat over against him, and lifted up her voice, and wept.

¹⁷พระเจ้าทรงสดับเสียงร้องของเด็กนั้น และทูตสวรรค์ของพระเจ้าจึงเรียกฮาการ์จากฟ้าสวรรค์กล่าวกับนางว่า "ฮาการ์ เจ้าเป็นอะไรไป อย่ากลัวเลย เพราะว่าพระเจ้าทรงสดับเสียงของเด็ก ณ ที่ที่เขาอยู่นั้นแล้ว

¹⁷God heard the voice of the boy. The angel of God called to Hagar out of the sky, and said to her, “What ails you, Hagar? Don’t be afraid. For God has heard the voice of the boy where he is.

¹⁸ลุกขึ้นอุ้มเด็กนั้น เอามือจับเขาไว้ให้แน่น เพราะเราจะทำให้เขาเป็นชาติใหญ่ชาติหนึ่ง"

¹⁸Get up, lift up the boy, and hold him in your hand. For I will make him a great nation.”

¹⁹แล้วพระเจ้าทรงเบิกตาของนาง นางก็เห็นบ่อน้ำแห่งหนึ่ง จึงไปเติมน้ำเต็มถุงหนังและให้เด็กนั้นดื่ม

¹⁹God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. She went, filled the bottle with water, and gave the boy drink.

²⁰พระเจ้าทรงสถิตกับเด็กนั้น เขาเติบโตขึ้น อาศัยอยู่ในถิ่นทุรกันดาร และเป็นนักธนู

²⁰God was with the boy, and he grew. He lived in the wilderness, and became, as he grew up, an archer.

²¹เขาอาศัยอยู่ในถิ่นทุรกันดารแห่งปาราน มารดาก็หาภรรยาคนหนึ่งจากประเทศอียิปต์ให้เขา

²¹He lived in the wilderness of Paran. His mother took a wife for him out of the land of Egypt.

²²และต่อมาในคราวนั้น อาบีเมเลคและฟีโคล์ผู้บัญชาการทหารของพระองค์ พูดกับอับราฮัมว่า "พระเจ้าทรงสถิตกับท่านในทุกสิ่งที่ท่านกระทำ

²²It happened at that time, that Abimelech and Phicol the captain of his army spoke to Abraham, saying, “God is with you in all that you do.

²³เพราะฉะนั้นบัดนี้จงปฏิญาณในพระนามพระเจ้าให้แก่เราที่นี่ว่า ท่านจะไม่ประพฤติการคดโกงต่อเรา หรือโอรสของเรา หรือต่อหลานของเรา แต่ดังที่เราภักดีต่อท่าน ท่านจงภักดีต่อเราและต่อแผ่นดินซึ่งท่านอาศัยอยู่นี้"

²³Now, therefore, swear to me here by God that you will not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son’s son. But according to the kindness that I have done to you, you shall do to me, and to the land in which you have lived as a foreigner.”

²⁴อับราฮัมก็ทูลว่า "ข้าพเจ้ายอมปฏิญาณ"

²⁴Abraham said, “I will swear.”

²⁵อับราฮัมก็ร้องทุกข์ต่ออาบีเมเลค เรื่องบ่อน้ำที่ข้าราชการอาบีเมเลคยึดเอาไป

²⁵Abraham complained to Abimelech because of a water well, which Abimelech’s servants had violently taken away.

²⁶อาบีเมเลคตรัสว่า "เราไม่รู้ว่าใครทำอย่างนี้ ทั้งท่านก็มิได้บอกเรา เราก็ยังไม่ได้ยินเรื่องจนวันนี้"

²⁶Abimelech said, “I don’t know who has done this thing. You didn’t tell me, neither did I hear of it, until today.”

²⁷อับราฮัมจึงนำแกะและวัวมาถวายแก่อาบีเมเลค ทั้งสองฝ่ายก็ทำพันธสัญญากัน

²⁷Abraham took sheep and cattle, and gave them to Abimelech. Those two made a covenant.

²⁸อับราฮัมได้แยกลูกแกะตัวเมียจากฝูงไว้ต่างหากเจ็ดตัว

²⁸Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock by themselves.

²⁹อาบีเมเลคตรัสถามอับราฮัมว่า "ลูกแกะตัวเมียเจ็ดตัวที่ท่านแยกไว้ต่างหากนั้นหมายความว่าอะไร"

²⁹Abimelech said to Abraham, “What do these seven ewe lambs which you have set by themselves mean?”

³⁰ท่านทูลว่า "ขอพระองค์รับลูกแกะตัวเมียเจ็ดตัวนี้จากมือข้าพระองค์ เพื่อจะได้เป็นพยานแก่ข้าพระองค์ว่า ข้าพระองค์ได้ขุดบ่อน้ำนี้"

³⁰He said, “You shall take these seven ewe lambs from my hand, that it may be a witness to me, that I have dug this well.”

³¹เหตุฉะนี้ท่านจึงเรียกที่นั้นว่า เบเออร์เชบา เพราะว่าทั้งสองได้ปฏิญาณกันไว้

³¹Therefore he called that place Beersheba, Beersheba can mean “well of the oath” or “well of seven.” because they both swore there.

³²ทั้งสองกระทำพันธสัญญากันที่เบเออร์เชบาดังนี้แหละ แล้วอาบีเมเลคและฟีโคล์ผู้บัญชาการทหารของพระองค์ได้ลุกขึ้นแล้วก็กลับไปยังแผ่นดินของชาวฟีลิสเตีย

³²So they made a covenant at Beersheba. Abimelech rose up with Phicol, the captain of his army, and they returned into the land of the Philistines.

³³อับราฮัมปลูกต้นแทมริสก์ไว้ที่เบเออร์เชบา และนมัสการออกพระนามพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้านิรันดร์ที่นั่น

³³Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and called there on the name of Yahweh, the Everlasting God.

³⁴อับราฮัมอาศัยอยู่ในแผ่นดินชาวฟีลิสเตียหลายวัน

³⁴Abraham lived as a foreigner in the land of the Philistines many days.
