¹และต่อมาภายหลังเหตุการณ์เหล่านี้ พระเจ้าทรงลองใจอับราฮัม และตรัสกับท่านว่า "อับราฮัม" ท่านทูลว่า "ดูเถิด ข้าพระองค์อยู่ที่นี่ พระเจ้าข้า"

¹It happened after these things, that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” He said, “Here I am.”

²พระองค์ตรัสว่า "จงพาบุตรชายของเจ้าคืออิสอัค บุตรชายคนเดียวของเจ้าผู้ที่เจ้ารักไปยังแผ่นดินโมริยาห์ และถวายเขาที่นั่นเป็นเครื่องเผาบูชา บนภูเขาลูกหนึ่งซึ่งเราจะบอกแก่เจ้า"

²He said, “Now take your son, your only son, whom you love, even Isaac, and go into the land of Moriah. Offer him there for a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I will tell you of.”

³อับราฮัมจึงลุกขึ้นแต่เช้ามืด ผูกอานลาของท่านพาคนใช้หนุ่มไปกับท่านด้วยสองคนกับอิสอัคบุตรชายของท่าน ท่านตัดฟืนสำหรับเครื่องเผาบูชา แล้วลุกขึ้นเดินทางไปยังที่ซึ่งพระเจ้าทรงตรัสแก่ท่าน

³Abraham rose early in the morning, and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son. He split the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went to the place of which God had told him.

⁴พอถึงวันที่สามอับราฮัมเงยหน้าขึ้นแลเห็นที่นั้นแต่ไกล

⁴On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place far off.

⁵อับราฮัมจึงพูดกับคนใช้หนุ่มของท่านว่า "อยู่กับลาที่นี่เถิด เรากับเด็กชายจะเดินไปนมัสการที่โน้น แล้วจะกลับมาพบเจ้า"

⁵Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I will go yonder. We will worship, and come back to you.”

⁶อับราฮัมเอาฟืนสำหรับเครื่องเผาบูชาใส่บ่าอิสอัคบุตรชายของตน ถือไฟและมีดแล้วพ่อลูกไปด้วยกัน

⁶Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son. He took in his hand the fire and the knife. They both went together.

⁷อิสอัคพูดกับอับราฮัมบิดาว่า "บิดาเจ้าข้า" และท่านตอบว่า "ลูกเอ๋ย พ่ออยู่ที่นี่" ลูกจึงว่า "นี่ไฟและฟืน แต่ลูกแกะสำหรับเครื่องเผาบูชาอยู่ที่ไหน"

⁷Isaac spoke to Abraham his father, and said, “My father?” He said, “Here I am, my son.” He said, “Here is the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”

⁸อับราฮัมตอบว่า "ลูกเอ๋ย พระเจ้าจะทรงจัดหาลูกแกะสำหรับพระองค์เองเป็นเครื่องเผาบูชา" พ่อลูกทั้งสองก็เดินต่อไปด้วยกัน

⁸Abraham said, “God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they both went together.

⁹เขาทั้งสองมาถึงที่ซึ่งพระเจ้าตรัสบอกท่านไว้ อับราฮัมก็สร้างแท่นบูชาที่นั่น เรียงฟืนเป็นระเบียบ แล้วมัดอิสอัคบุตรชายวางไว้บนแท่นบูชาบนฟืน

⁹They came to the place which God had told him of. Abraham built the altar there, and laid the wood in order, bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, on the wood.

¹⁰แล้วอับบราฮัมก็ยื่นมือจับมีดจะฆ่าบุตรชาย

¹⁰Abraham stretched out his hand, and took the knife to kill his son.

¹¹แต่ทูตสวรรค์ของพระเยโฮวาห์เรียกท่านจากฟ้าสวรรค์ว่า "อับราฮัม อับราฮัม" และท่านตอบว่า "ข้าพระองค์อยู่ที่นี่ พระเจ้าข้า"

¹¹The angel of Yahweh called to him out of the sky, and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” He said, “Here I am.”

¹²และพระองค์ตรัสว่า "อย่าแตะต้องเด็กนั้นหรือกระทำอะไรแก่เขาเลย เพราะบัดนี้เรารู้แล้วว่าเจ้ายำเกรงพระเจ้า ด้วยเห็นว่าเจ้ามิได้หวงบุตรชายของเจ้า คือบุตรชายคนเดียวของเจ้าจากเรา"

¹²He said, “Don’t lay your hand on the boy, neither do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.”

¹³อับราฮัมเงยหน้าขึ้นมองดู และดูเถิด ข้างหลังท่านมีแกะผู้ตัวหนึ่ง เขาของมันติดอยู่ในพุ่มไม้ทึบ อับราฮัมก็ไปจับแกะผู้ตัวนั้นมาถวายเป็นเครื่องเผาบูชาแทนบุตรชายของท่าน

¹³Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and saw that behind him was a ram caught in the thicket by his horns. Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering instead of his son.

¹⁴อับราฮัมจึงเรียกสถานที่นั้นว่า เยโฮวาห์ยิเรห์ อย่างที่เขาพูดกันทุกวันนี้ว่า "ที่ภูเขาของพระเยโฮวาห์นั้น พระองค์ทรงทอดพระเนตร"

¹⁴Abraham called the name of that place Yahweh Will Provide or, Yahweh-Jireh, or, Yahweh-Seeing . As it is said to this day, “On Yahweh’s mountain, it will be provided.”

¹⁵ทูตสวรรค์ของพระเยโฮวาห์เรียกอับราฮัมครั้งที่สองมาจากฟ้าสวรรค์

¹⁵The angel of Yahweh called to Abraham a second time out of the sky,

¹⁶และตรัสว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า เราปฏิญาณโดยตัวเราเองว่าเพราะเจ้ากระทำอย่างนี้และมิได้หวงบุตรชายของเจ้า คือบุตรชายคนเดียวของเจ้า

¹⁶and said, “I have sworn by myself, says Yahweh, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son,

¹⁷เราจะอวยพรเจ้าแน่ เราจะทวีเชื้อสายของเจ้าให้มากขึ้น ดังดวงดาวในท้องฟ้า และดังเม็ดทรายบนฝั่งทะเล เชื้อสายของเจ้าจะได้ประตูเมืองศัตรูของเจ้าเป็นกรรมสิทธิ์

¹⁷that I will bless you greatly, and I will multiply your seed greatly like the stars of the heavens, and like the sand which is on the seashore. Your seed will possess the gate of his enemies.

¹⁸ประชาชาติทั้งหลายทั่วโลกจะได้พรเพราะเชื้อสายของเจ้า เพราะว่าเจ้าได้เชื่อฟังเสียงของเรา"

¹⁸In your seed will all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.”

¹⁹อับราฮัมจึงกลับไปหาคนใช้หนุ่มของท่าน เขาก็ลุกขึ้นแล้วพากันกลับไปยังเมืองเบเออร์เชบา อับราฮัมก็อาศัยอยู่ที่เบเออร์เชบา

¹⁹So Abraham returned to his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beersheba. Abraham lived at Beersheba.

²⁰และต่อมาภายหลังเหตุการณ์เหล่านี้ มีคนมาบอกอับราฮัมว่า "ดูเถิด มิลคาห์บังเกิดบุตรให้แก่นาโฮร์น้องชายของท่านด้วยแล้ว

²⁰It happened after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying, “Behold, Milcah, she also has borne children to your brother Nahor:

²¹คือฮูสบุตรหัวปี บูสน้องชายของเขา เคมูเอลบิดาของอารัม

²¹Uz his firstborn, Buz his brother, Kemuel the father of Aram,

²²เคเสด ฮาโซ ปิลดาช ยิดลาฟ และเบธูเอล"

²²Chesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, and Bethuel.”

²³เบธูเอลให้กำเนิดบุตรสาวชื่อเรเบคาห์ ทั้งแปดนี้มิลคาห์บังเกิดให้นาโฮร์ น้องชายของอับราฮัม

²³Bethuel became the father of Rebekah. These eight Milcah bore to Nahor, Abraham’s brother.

²⁴และภรรยาน้อยของเขาที่ชื่อเรอูมาห์ ก็ได้บังเกิดเตบาห์ กาฮัม ทาหาช และมาอาคาห์

²⁴His concubine, whose name was Reumah, also bore Tebah, Gaham, Tahash, and Maacah.
