¹และโยบได้กล่าวกลอนภาษิตของตนอีกว่า

¹Job again took up his parable, and said,

²"พระเจ้าทรงพระชนม์อยู่แน่ฉันใด คือพระองค์ผู้ทรงนำความยุติธรรมอันควรตกแก่ข้าไปเสีย และองค์ผู้ทรงมหิทธิฤทธิ์ทรงพระชนม์อยู่แน่ฉันใด คือผู้ทรงทำใจข้าให้ขมขื่น

²“As God lives, who has taken away my right, the Almighty, who has made my soul bitter.

³เพราะลมหายใจยังอยู่ในตัวข้าตราบใด และลมปราณจากพระเจ้ายังอยู่ในรูจมูกของข้าตราบใด

³(For the length of my life is still in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils);

⁴ริมฝีปากของข้าจะไม่พูดความเท็จและลิ้นของข้าจะไม่เปล่งคำหลอกลวง

⁴surely my lips shall not speak unrighteousness, neither shall my tongue utter deceit.

⁵ขอพระเจ้าอย่ายอมให้ข้าเห็นว่าท่านเป็นฝ่ายที่ถูกเลย ข้าจะไม่ทิ้งความสัตย์จริงของข้าจนข้าตาย

⁵Far be it from me that I should justify you. Until I die I will not put away my integrity from me.

⁶ข้ายึดความชอบธรรมของข้าไว้มั่นไม่ยอมปล่อยไป จิตใจของข้าไม่ตำหนิข้า ไม่ว่าวันใดในชีวิตของข้า

⁶I hold fast to my righteousness, and will not let it go. My heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.

⁷ขอให้ศัตรูของข้าเป็นเหมือนคนชั่ว และขอให้ผู้ที่ลุกขึ้นต่อสู้ข้าเป็นเหมือนคนอธรรม

⁷“Let my enemy be as the wicked. Let him who rises up against me be as the unrighteous.

⁸เพราะอะไรจะเป็นความหวังของคนหน้าซื่อใจคด แม้ว่าเขาได้กำไรแล้ว เมื่อพระเจ้าทรงเอาชีวิตของเขาไป

⁹พระเจ้าจะทรงฟังเสียงร้องของเขาหรือ เมื่อความยากลำบากมาสู่เขา

¹⁰เขาจะปีติยินดีในองค์ผู้ทรงมหิทธิฤทธิ์หรือ เขาจะกราบทูลพระเจ้าทุกเวลาหรือ

¹⁰Will he delight himself in the Almighty, and call on God at all times?

¹¹ข้าจะสอนท่านทั้งหลายโดยพระหัตถ์ของพระเจ้า ข้าจะไม่ปิดบังพระดำริขององค์ผู้ทรงมหิทธิฤทธิ์

¹¹I will teach you about the hand of God. That which is with the Almighty will I not conceal.

¹²ดูเถิด ท่านทุกคนได้เห็นเองแล้ว ทำไมท่านจึงเหลวไหลสิ้นเชิงทีเดียวเล่า

¹²Behold, all of you have seen it yourselves; why then have you become altogether vain?

¹³ต่อพระเจ้า นี่เป็นส่วนของคนชั่ว และมรดกซึ่งผู้บีบบังคับจะได้รับจากองค์ผู้ทรงมหิทธิฤทธิ์

¹³“This is the portion of a wicked man with God, the heritage of oppressors, which they receive from the Almighty.

¹⁴ถ้าลูกหลานของเขาเพิ่มขึ้น ก็เพื่อถูกดาบ และลูกหลานของเขาก็หาไม่พอกิน

¹⁴If his children are multiplied, it is for the sword. His offspring shall not be satisfied with bread.

¹⁵คนของเขาที่เหลืออยู่ ความตายก็จะฝังเขาเสีย และภรรยาม่ายทั้งหลายของเขาจะไม่คร่ำครวญ

¹⁵Those who remain of him shall be buried in death. His widows shall make no lamentation.

¹⁶ถึงเขาจะกอบโกยเอาเงินไว้มากอย่างผงคลีดิน และกองเสื้อผ้าไว้ดังดินเหนียว

¹⁶Though he heap up silver as the dust, and prepare clothing as the clay;

¹⁷เขาจะกองไว้ก็ได้ แต่คนชอบธรรมจะสวม และคนไร้ผิดจะแบ่งเงินกัน

¹⁷he may prepare it, but the just shall put it on, and the innocent shall divide the silver.

¹⁸เขาสร้างบ้านเหมือนอย่างตัวมอด เหมือนอย่างเพิงที่คนยามสร้าง

¹⁸He builds his house as the moth, as a booth which the watchman makes.

¹⁹คนมั่งคั่งจะนอนลง แต่เขาจะไม่ถูกรวบรวมไว้ เขาลืมตาของเขาขึ้น และเขาไม่อยู่แล้ว

¹⁹He lies down rich, but he shall not do so again. He opens his eyes, and he is not.

²⁰ความสยดสยองท่วมเขาเหมือนน้ำมากหลาย ในกลางคืนพายุหอบเขาไป

²⁰Terrors overtake him like waters. A storm steals him away in the night.

²¹ลมตะวันออกหอบเขาขึ้น และเขาก็จากไป เหมือนพายุมันก็กวาดเขาออกไปจากที่ของเขา

²¹The east wind carries him away, and he departs. It sweeps him out of his place.

²²พระเจ้าจะทรงเหวี่ยงเขาอย่างไม่ปรานี เขาจะหนีจากพระหัตถ์ของพระองค์

²²For it hurls at him, and does not spare, as he flees away from his hand.

²³คนจะตบมือเยาะเย้ยเขา และเย้ยหยันเขาออกไปจากที่ของเขา"

²³Men shall clap their hands at him, and shall hiss him out of his place.
